Pros +
- Nice staff, good location hence it's close to attractions and the lake, and clean rooms.
- Friendly, homely, good food, big room, renovated bathroom, nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, especially Scott who served food. Property had character. We were in a separate building which I had no fore knowledge about until we arrived. However it was large and mainly comfortable.
- A lot of room in the building. Nice and quiet place to stay around the lake
Cons -
- No lift, we had to carry our bags upstairs which was quite challenging. Food options are very limited and you cannot use Uber eat because its far from restaurants.
- Noisy traffic from main road as our window was close to it, dusty room not cleaned properly and bed very poorly made on day 2 , uncomfortable and too soft bed, no air- con, very limited breakfast options with no continental choices of cheese or meat etc and no croissants. The worst thing was the shampoo and body wash which was so watered down l, it was impossible to get a lather. Very limited outdoor seating with any comfort or cushions- Such a shame because the grounds were lovely. Overall though we had a good weekend but simple improvements would make such a difference. Also no sun parasols for very hot weather.
- The receptionist could be more professional and helpful.

The location was very good for exploring the western lakes.
We were allocated a disability room with the disabled chair still in the shower once we arrived. Firstly, we would have liked to have been pre-warned of this at the time of booking as both myself and my husband are able-bodied. The room was situated on the ground floor behind the reception area and we had a public disabled toilet directly opposite our room which everyone used day and night so made it quite a noisy stay too. The other issue we had was at breakfast-time were the two staff who checked everyone in as they entered, who just stood behind the desk staring at every guest while they were getting their choices of breakfast. One female member of staff in particular watched as I placed my bread in the toaster using the tongs and because I replaced the tongs back under the cover with the slices of bread actually came and stood beside me and replaced them on the top without saying a word and then went back behind her desk to stare again - so rude! She was also so eager to take clear everyone’s plates before they had even finished, very invasive. Overall, the stay was okay, our meal in the brasserie was very good and staff were also very good in there. The hotel was a little tired and looks as though it could do with a bit of updating.
Clean and nothing bad, but nothing stand out either particularly for the price
A little dated in bar area, not a good first impression, needs repainting outside, ridiculous front doors, parking was a mess, no marked spaces and no spaces on arrival. Breakfast items had run out. For the money there should be something stand out and exceptional service
Swimming pool was great. Food, both breakfast choices and dinner was excellent. Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking.
Pillows weren't great but I'm being picky!
Everything was stunning! Food was lovely. Staff were all brilliant! And so close to the town.
The spa really let the hotel down. Jacuzzi was dirty and cold. Steam room was out of order with a sign up but the sauna room also didn’t work. We didn’t even bother with the pool, just reported issues at reception and left.
Breakfast area very good, spacious and tables not on top of each other. Breakfast for cereals was a good choice as was fruit juices and coffee. The hot breakfast area for full English was a very good choice and was being topped up continuously. This was very good and the service by staff excellent and to be commended. Evening meals needed more vegetarian choice, one choice was totally inadequate and needs to be addressed. The staff throughout the hotel were always helpful
Needed a better vegetarian choice for evening meal.
Beautiful settings, a great place to stay close to the lovely morning Saturday Park Run, and a good breakfast squeezed in to!
The location was fantastic. The staff were lovely. The evening meal and the breakfast were excellent. The swimming pool was an added bonus. Excellent stay. Couldn't fault it.
Location was remote as i don't drive, breakfast was nice and plentiful, bus stop is outside hotel which was useful.
The shower wasn't great in my room also I could hear the traffic from the road lots of lorries during the early hours.
A nice little pub/bar area for food. Great menu, dog friendly. Great location for being close to the lake. Good parking.
There is a ridiculously busy and dangerous road you need to cross to actually access the lake. Almost impossible to cross with children and dog. Breakfast had very little choice and not very hot. Radiators all on full whack throughout hotel making it uncomfortably hot when the weather was warm outside. Most rooms didn’t have a lakeside view. Pool not the best, very small, didn’t use.
Location and breakfast
Walls are thin can hear tv from the next room late into the night. There was no water provided in the room, that should be a basic given. No fridge. The room we were put in was next to the spa and pool, many people walking in and out and rmdoors slamming for hours it was not pleasant. The reception was not manned at night so I had to knock on the door next to our room and ask them to turn the volume down. Disappointing overall
The staff here were fantastic they absolutely loved my puppy and kept saying they gna take him home lolzzz the receptionist were so lovely and the waitress girls were so loving to my pup and they allowed us earlier check ins with the pool and we had the pool and jacuzzi all to ourselves free upgraded rooms the hospitality was great and we will definitely be back here without a question fantastic views comfy beds large clean quite rooms and I actually slept and I can never sleep anywhere but home lol
Bar staff really lovely and fun.Comfortable beds, plenty of towels. Good storage for clothes. A window that can be opened wide to air the room and let cooler air in.
Raspberry coulis on Melon starter was awful sticky sauce which hadn't seen a real raspberry (just leave it off!)Menu in general very uninspiring, mostly frozen and 'chef miked' or deep fried, needs a salad/ veg option as an extra.Small sausages at breakfast were fab, larger ones were very hard and chewy.Sauna and treadmill not working, swimming pool needs updating ASAP crumbling plaster etcDust under bedside tables and on top of wardrobes but generally clean.
Greeted by a friendly face at reception. Offered a choice of rooms for our party. Allowed use of pool until a bit later than usual. Nothing too much trouble. Rooms great.
Staff member at breakfast a bit frosty when we asked for coffee which had run out it may have been close to end of breakfast time but not usually an issue elsewhere.
Excellent staff - food exceptional - ideal hotel for taking your dog
It was in a good position for everything we wanted to do.
Spa and swimming pool was very poor, not enough changing rooms and a very small pool
- Lovely staff, welcoming - Great Location- Dog friendly, green spaces/litter bins/ bar area accomodated- Good breakfast, good quality - Swimming pool perfect for young families
- Daughters meal of pasta with tomato sauce tasted like it was overcooked pasta in cream of tomato soup. For £8.50. Disappointing.
The property is clean and well maintained. The view from the room of the rear garden is very pleasant.
For the cost of this hotel I was disappointed that the over-bath shower had one of those thin curtains that wraps around you as soon as the shower is turned on. ‘Service’ in the restaurant was awful, and the buffet breakfast poor at best.
