Pros +
- Helpful and friendly staff
- Excellent food, spacious room, friendly, helpful staff ( especially Nathan!)
- Even though we were the only 2 guests in the hotel as it was way out of season, we were treated to the full experience. The breakfast is to die for, fresh hot and filling full English. Large pot of coffee, The room was ample for my needs and the bed sooo comfortable. If it wasn't so far away i would make regular visits.
Cons -
- A mini fridge would have been nice
- Not many powerpoints in room, and not very sound proof, however aware it was a very old and probably listed building so not sure if these can be addressed
- The weather was cold and wet, you are bordering Scotland after all.

Breakfast was Brilliant Good service ,Staff was Great .
Bed was cheap and un comfortable, shower had mould on tiles noise in car park was terrible motobike going up and down the car park .shame because nice main building.
Staff great, lovely food location and place to stay
Ideal location in the centre of town. Breakfast was fabulous, really lovely staff
Location, couldn’t get better, nice parking onsite, nice breakfast.
Room over 2 levels, not ideal for 3am toilet visit. Water for shower kept going cold.
Great location, comfy bed
Sauna didn't work, light was broken in sauna also. This was one of the main reasons I booked. Shower leaked onto bathroom floor. Food crumbs under sofa cushions.Hot water wasnt hot enough turned right up to 50 degrees. It was warm, but not hot shower
Situation, clean simple Scandinavian style. The food is high standard.
Excellent establishment. I like the loft-style room, the beds were quite comfortable, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious. The designated car parking area in the back was most welcome as well. I highly recommend this hotel.Jim Swift, USA
Great central location The food was amazing, breakfast was included and there was a great menu, with huge portions which set us up for the day.Our room was clean and comfortable.Every staff member we met throughout our stay was friendly and keen to help us have a nice stay which we definitely did.I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.
There was honestly nothing I didn't like.
Unexpectedly modern, continental style charm. Great beds, good food, tasty breakfast and an intriguing history. The Centre of Britain surprised us with a beautiful skylit dining room, decorated with plants (that may or may not be real!) and serving excellent food.
The room we stayed in was a mezzanine style. While there was nothing wrong with the room per se, the toilet isn't on the same level as the bed, so going to the loo at night involved negotiating the stairs. This was tricky for me as I was struggling with a foot injury during our visit. Not an issue but worth bearing in mind that accessing the parking lot is quite tricky as the road to it and gate entrance are quite narrow for modern cars.
Lovely location. Bar and restaurant was very nice. Food was good and staff very helpful.
The toilet had a poor flush.
I have stayed in this hotel many times over the last 20 years, nearly always when I have been walking Hadrians Wall. This time I was in a spacious room in the annex, and it was clean and comfortable as always. Extremely well situated for the AD 122 bus service for various stopping points on the Wall
Nothing at all.
Short walk to the train station and bus stop. Very quick bus ride to Hadrian’s Wall. Right in the middle of town. Breakfast was enormous and the staff were just so helpful and lovely, even running out to the shop to get avocado for me when they’d run out.
The room was actually stunning visually but does need some upgrading.
Good spacious suite, excellent friendly staff and excellent breakfasts and dinners. Nearby facilities included a Sainsbury's store a couple of minutes walk away and a decent pub opposite the hotel.
Nothing in particular to dislike - all was as expected.
Refurbished restaurant and atmosphere
Loss of space taken by the sauna
Great location in the centre of town, very clean and very comfy beds. Great breakfast and free parking. Ate dinner in restaurant which was very tasty and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful
Breakfast was excellent as was evening meal which we had in hotel. Family run, very friendly and helpful . Bathroom was really nice and big.
Maybe a fan in room would have helped as window wouldn't open but really that's a small thing.
First time here.A novelty to have a stair to bed and entering from outside courtyard.Loved the salmon and egg for breakfast and also a varied continental breakfast.
Smoke alarm went off whilst boiling kettle.Moved welcoming tray slightly with kettle and alarm didn't go off again.Staircase a bit narrow.
