Pros +
- Everywhere was warm, clean and well decorated. The staff were all friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. The breakfast was lovely with a good selection. We had dinner on one evening and again the food was delicious.
- Food good, but took several tries to get my Americano right! Hotel is beautifully situated and is very comfortable. I would definitely stay here for a third time.
- This hotel is an absolute gem. It's not until you get inside do you appreciate the experience. As we had a small dog, our room had direct access to the grounds, perfect. The public rooms were beautifully decorated in keeping with its style and age, and plenty of history on view. The extensive dining room was superbly decorated and the food of very high quality, both at dinner and breakfast. When combined with the friendly staff and attentiveness of the dining room staff, this would be difficult to beat. The location too, just outside of Hawes, was good.
Cons -
- There was nothing that we didn’t like.
- Unfortunately, our room was at the rear of the building above furnace or extractor vents which caused noise and sound wave pressure in the late evening and early morning which disturbed my sleep. The remainder of the time, during the day and middle of the night, was quiet. The view of sheep in the fields was very nice.
- Our room was located near the staff quarters or laundry and on the ground floors so not much privacy. Next time I would ask for a different room but I would definitely stay here again!

The overall ambience of the hotel is great. The seating on the lawn was very nice for late afternoon and into the evening with beautiful views of the hills. There are hills to walk very near by and it is all beautiful! The nearby town is close for daytime walk across the field and down the road, but I would not walk it in the dark.

fantastic location, very friendly staff, excellent food and breakfast
Beautiful old house close to Hawes.Friendly staffGreat foodLovely room with great views
Well-placed well run hotel. Breakfast is waitress served very promptly, with good variety and local food. The dinner menu is a few options but wide enough for good choice and very tasty. Original artwork of the Dales in the restaurant, which is multi-roomed including a glass extension. Loved the conservatory views of spring lambs gambolling in the fields from our bedroom. There's a heater if you need it. There are great footpaths and views all around the location. I would recommend.
The conservatories join on to each other with frosted glass so you do have an awareness if your neighbours are in their conservatory at the same time. This didn't bother us as no-one is in them all the time, and wouldn't put me off booking again.
The location is amazing. The staff are really friendly and everything is well organised and runs like clockwork.
Minor things, but there was no hard cheese included in the cheese dessert. Given the hotel is in Wensleydale this was disappointing. Also there was no cheesecake left.
Stunning house full of character and beautiful setting with outstanding views. Staff made such an effort to show personal care and were genuinely interested in the guests. This includes all staff in restaurant and front of house.
Clean comfortable quiet very helpful and friendly staff Great food menu
A fantastic Spring break at the Stonehouse Hotel. The staff were unfailingly welcoming and cheerful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was exceptional, home cooked and good value for money. Our room was quite small but not unexpected as it is described as a Cozy King, however this didn't detract at all from our enjoyment. The Lounge and Bar areas were very comfortable and welcoming. Kept toasty with real fires so just like at home we really only slept in our room.
Couldn’t fault our stay here. Absolutely lovely staff, impeccably clean rooms, and really accommodating with our dog :) would 100% stay here again!
Nothing!
A fantastic 2 night stay from check-in to check out. Lovely staff, fabulous food and wine, comfy beds and clean rooms. Makes for a cosy countryside stay in a beautiful location.
Had such a fantastic stay there really isn't anything we didn't like
Friendly staff, who took a genuine interest.Very good food.Very clean and spacious room.Nice country setting.Value for money.Catered very well for dogs without making any unnecessary fuss.
Honestly just a fantastic experience. Everyone was so kind, the hotel was beautiful and clean. We're new parents taking our first trip away without our daughter and everyone took time to reassure us and otherwise make us feel at home.
That we only booked one night!
A wonderful hotel in lovely location every where was spotlessly clean the dinner and breakfast were excellent lovely scenery all around and a short walk into the town of hawes and most of all the staff couldn't have made you feel anymore welcome all fantastic
Absolutely no negative comments
The hotel is beautiful and our room had a conservatory looking out onto the garden and the gorgeous dales. It was our diamond wedding anniversary and we got special treatment and a free bottle of wine. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. Overall we had a lovely stay.
The staff were very welcoming. The hotel was very clean. Food was very good with great service. Location great for walks and visiting local attractions.
Absolutely fabulous hotel. Stunning location. Staff were amazing and friendly and it was so beautiful inside, warm and relaxing.
Choice of menu was limited for vegetarians but the food we had was delicious. Best we've had for a while.
