Pros +
- We loved the beautiful views, the rustic charm, and the helpful staff!
- The location was perfect (close to my mother's carehome), and we had a fabulous walk before dark, and a visit to the *remarkable* church in the village. It is a magical place, the pub/bar and location especially, and we did enjoy dinner in the restaurant.
- I have stayed here many times now and normally really enjoy my stay. However it was my first time staying in room 12. It was tiny and freezing cold with no way of adjusting the heating. As I love stayed many times before an upgrade on a quite night would have helped. However now I left wondering if I’ll bother going back.
Cons -
- The internet was scarce and hardly working- I spent a lot of time trying to get online, then it would disappear, and I wasn’t able to accomplish some things I needed to do. It would be helpful if the establishment was to get an extender for various parts of the complex!
- It is expensive, breakfast too. For that sort of money, even in Oxfordshire ... And the room is in some respects more quirky than comfortable, though my partner had (I believe) a fabulous bath.
- Was very clean and nice furnishing.

Staff members were helpful, polite and friendly. The accommodation was an experience. Had to walk through a herb garden to the quarters. Really nice. The location was great; peaceful with bird song. Well proportioned with everything you could need. The bar/dining area was interesting. Pictures, a large fireplace; what caught my eye was the cabinet with woven reincarnation of food stuffs long since made redundant. I though they were real at first. The different types of outdoor seating was amazing. I aim to try the rooms as they were all unique, quirky. Just what I like. All in all it was a pleasant environment with all age groups catered for. I will be visiting again.
Location in peaceful countryside yet easy to reach Witney and major roads. Pub and hotel full of character and charm.
A beautiful propery. Great food, comfy beds. Peaceful location
The shepherds hut itself was fabulous, couldn’t fault it. It was fabulously stocked full of everything you would need for a great stay. Really clean and the attention to detail was second to none.
I didn’t like the fact that we were positioned in pretty much what was the pub garden. I think on the description of the property this is really misleading. We looked out onto a really unattractive plastic marquee that flapped in the wind, absolutely nothing like the one shown in the photos, which really spoilt the whole outlook onto the hotel itself. I also didn’t appreciate seeing who looked like the caretaker popping round the back of the marquee to his shed to have a cigarette every 20 minutes or so looking straight into the doors of the shepherds hut. Had I been going the work event I was meant to originally been going to I would have been staying here on my own and would have actually felt really vulnerable. Overall the shepherds hut was such a lovely space but where it’s positioned isn’t ideal and the positioning of the hut in the photos is totally different to the reality. Describing it in the herb garden isn’t totally untrue but I do think it should say the herb garden is situated at the end of the pub garden and people can sit and watch you from outside.
Lovely spot in countryside and nicely decorated and comfortable. Great pub.
I thought the room was a bit disappointing for the price, as in it was pretty tiny. The linens and bed were good quality though.
Beautiful building - tastefully decorated- lovely room with a few issues

Excellent food, comfortable bed and lovely decor and room
Breakfast was delicious, staff very friendly and attentive, beautiful location!
Staff and food excellent.Accommodation comfortable.
Accommodation a little expensive for what was still a pub with rooms.Too many unnecessary ancillary items e.g slipper and dressing gowns,Roberts radio, unnecessary for this type of accommodation.
Highlight of my trip. Amazing, unique room - so many little touches and details. Beautiful!Good parking available on site with two Tesla destination chargers available (and working).
lovely, we’ll thought through rooms. the private garden area to the front of some rooms was a real bonus in the morning to enjoy a coffee in as the sun rose. The restaurant had a great gastro pub menu, everything we had was great-particularly the service!
Comfortable beds lovely breakfast
Evening menu not most imaginative
Lovely room clean and well decorated, Super comfy bed and good size bath. hotel staff very polite and helpfulAlso lovely complimentary strawberries and cream in the room.
Booking.com has the rooms listed as pet friendly with additional charge however on The way there was told the room we booked was not pet friendly and the only option is to upgrade room by addtitional cost (£85 later+£15 pet charge ) or cancel the booking and lose your money (£214.50) as it is non refundable.. So check with hotel before you book due to the listings being incorrect
An amazing, quirky boutique hotel which surprised and delighted at every turn. Our room was comfortable, unusually furnished and quiet. The food in the 'pub' was anything but 'pub food' - it was full of flavour, delicious, with generous portions.. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would score this hotel 10 out of 10, and would happily return. Thanks guys.
I cannot think of a single improvement. The price was a little high (just over £400); just under £400 would have felt more comfortable, but, hey, we had a great time!!
The food was beautiful and the staff
Very cute little out house. Just noisey and as I was on my own as a young woman I would have preferred to be somewhere else. You could hear cars all night and people talking. I just woke up every few hours
the room was luminous and beautiful, staff was lovely
it was overpriced for the lack of experiences it offered and the location was far from everything
loved all the details. The home made cookies, bath, and amenities were so dreamy.
