    Pros +

    • An impressive driveway
    • Location and spa
    • I liked the service and the place itself looked amazing

    Cons -

    • The rooms are shocking, worse than a budget hotel. The breakfast situation is an embarrassment
    • Room 422 was noisy , in contecting door creached all night , windows have seen better days and could hear the wind / rain outside.Room ceiling had crayons marks on it - you would have expected this should have resolved. Bathroom outdated.Resturant is way over priced and has had the same menu for 4 years
    • Few very small issues, a bit dusty in places and hairs in the bath. The room I stayed in and the stair case leading to it could do with a lick of paint, but the bed was clean and very comfortable and overall we had a nice night away from home

    The spa

    Loved the nature and views

The spa was too busy and isn't included with the room

    The history

The cleansyness of the spa showers black mould everywhere, the interrupted sleep due do an extremely loud banging against the wall of my room every time someone walked up and down the stairs … I am still waiting on a reply regarding this situation

Bed was comfortable. Reception staff nice - food at dinner was lovely. Wine and cocktails very nice but very expensive.

Rooms are nice but dated there were a lot of things broken or stained. Toiletries supplied but no shower gel in the shower only shampoo and conditioner. Breakfast was badly organized. Some items on buffet some you had to order but nothing telling you - just told to sit where I wanted and go to the buffet, Coffee terrible! Ordered poached eggs not asked if wanted white or brown bread came on white. Lots of nice bread but no toaster so you couldn't make your own toast - what a simple thing to fix! Room at front had nice view but very noisy in the morning

This hotel has no facilities at all . The gym , pool and spa are part of the spa complex next door . You have to oay a fee to access the spa

No facilities. Room were below average and very nosiy. Very expensive price for what they are offering

    10LisaPosted on: 2-6-2026

Breakfast was excellent although pricey! Especially as I only eat fruit and yoghurt in the mornings so maybe an offer of continental breakfast as a reduced rate would be good. Health center facility was also amazing - although would be great to have free access if staying at the hotel.

Loved everything - in fact so much that I'm looking to book a weekend there privately rather than just travelling for work.

Excellent location, great service, great food and drink options and loved the parting and fires

The spa access could not be met on either day of the stay which was disappointing. The bedrooms weee quite dated and felt quite limited in terms of the star rating. The breakfast room was always very warm in the mornings and was having some maintenance completed which was quite disruptive.

    Location and setting were wonderful

Poor levels of staffing meant no concierge available for luggage transfer for lowing spa dayWe wanted to watch live sport in one of the bars but staff closed after we arrived despite the published closing time stated as 10pm. Very disappointing. Staff had poor local knowledge of the area sending us to a local pub to watch live sport but the venue didn’t even have TV screens, let alone was showing live sport. Plus the unnecessary taxi cost

    1OlhaPosted on: 2-2-2026

    extremely disappointing and fell far...

Everything was unacceptable. The staff were unhelpful, the spa facilities were completely unavailable, and the room condition was far beyond acceptable standards

    6NatashaPosted on: 2-1-2026

Spacious room with some freebies, ideal location, spa facilities were luxurious and really nice restaurant.

Spa not included which is stated when booking (subject to availability at £15pp). Except what we didn’t realise is that they prioritised “in case members turn up” over paying guests. We sat for an hour and a half, and watched 8 people be let in. After a lot of pestering, the lady finally allowed us to but said she shouldn’t because “it was full”. Everyone after us was turned away. When we actually got into the pool area - there was a total of 9 people!! In no way was it full, and we actually felt awful for all the paying guests that had been turned away and could have enjoyed the facilities too.

    Lovely facilities

The noise throughout the night until around 4.30 am from other rowdy residents which disturbed our stay and wellness day

    10BilliejoPosted on: 1-26-2026

The style was gorgeous! Spa was unreal & the restaurant food was amazing, great vibes

Rooms a little dated but spotless

    10SaffronPosted on: 1-22-2026

The terrace room was gorgeous, opening onto a lovely area overlooking the lake and fountain. It was a little 'tired' (i.e. the coffee machine was stood in front of the television in order to hold the cover on the electrical panel) and there was no kettle to make a cup of tea. However the seating area was comfortable and the bathroom was lovely with roll top bath and walk in shower. We had told them it was our anniversary and, as well as the towels folded to lovely swans on our bed with rose petal, there was a lovely selection of champneys treats, with chocolates and sweets. The restaurant was wonderful in ensuring we had a lovely romantic experience and ALL the staff were so pleasant as well as being so very professional. This is a MAGIC place and we can't wait to go back.

It's a small point but, although there was a 'pod' type coffee machine, there was no way to make a cup of tea. I'm quite sure that, had we asked, one would have been provided but for one night it was fine.

We stayed at Mottram Hall for my boyfriend’s birthday and had a lovely, very relaxed stay. The spa was excellent and the charcuterie board was delicious. Everything felt calm and well looked after and it was a really nice touch to find birthday gifts left in the room for him. A great place for a peaceful getaway — we’d happily return.

    Beauty of the property.

The directions for the walking tours could have been clearer. It would be better to have a map, in addition to the written descriptions.

    5JohnPosted on: 1-19-2026

A very nice bedroom overlooking the lawns and fountain

There was a wedding on and the bar was restricted to guests. The trek from the car park and also to the spa. It was a wet weekend.

    7GaryPosted on: 1-17-2026

    The location

The fact that the spa was actually a seperate business with ridiculous additional charges to use the facilities, maybe I was naive but assumed when I booked a Spa Hotel then access to the pool and gym would be included. I have gone back on and still feel it is not clear but cannot find the prices anywhere. On the upside we’re on the second floor with no lift so got a free leg workout
