    Pros +

    • The hotel is close to town and beach and my room faced the river so I had a lovely view. Wifi available. Pay for car park is around the corner but its pretty busy so had to wait for a space. Breakfast was delicious, staff friendly.
    • Hotel was lovely and a fantastic location .
    • Like tge size of the room, cleanliness- h2o available in recycling bottles, great idea. Same with milk- flask.

    Cons -

    • there is nothing negative that I can say about this hotel
    • The scaffolding restricted our view .We booked specifically for the view but was severely restricted by the scaffolding. I asked for my bacon well done at breakfast it came out pink
    • Bed was very hard, could do with a topper for comfort, wash cloths for removing makeup- not white - then wash cloth for inside shower to wash body. International travel limits weight of baggage- so those items aren't packed.

We didn’t stay, my wife was so poorly treated and the condition of the property was so bed she would not entertain stayi

My wife was treated poorly by untrained staff, the property was run down and dirty. She decided we could not stay in this accommodation. The reviews were grossly overrated and the difficulty in parking and dropping luggage off at the door was not even mentioned in the description. Very disappointing experience.

    Its Location

No parking which was stated but it was difficult to find a spot close by.Inconvenient to get milk & water outside of room.Noisy at night with drunk pub customers Nowhere to put toilet bag in the bathroom.Bath had all fluff in it that had come from fan Breakfast fruit & pastries didn’t look fresh.

Amazing views over the harbour. Right next to the bridge. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was clean warm and comfortable. The breakfast was made fresh as you ordered it. It was very tasty and good quality. We wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else in Whitby.

Great location, great breakfast, nice big spacious room, friendly helpful staff.

Although breakfast was delicious was slightly disappointed kippers were not on the menu.

Great pub, nice food, lovely staff. Really liked the bottled water available in the fridge.

Room and view from the room

Felt breakfast items could have been a little better quality wise e.g better sausage and to have black pudding

    3DavidPosted on: 4-18-2025

    Staff were fine.

Did not realise that it is a pub with rooms and offsite parking meant over half a mile away. Two floors with no lift was also a problem.

Excellent location. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable room and bed. Lovely breakfast.

    No complaints whatsoever.

The hotel is just over the bridge in the old town, tbh we were not expecting much however, the room was spotless, the staff were really good, more than managed our expectations. The breakfast was really good, food served hot an with no fuss. My sister and I really enjoyed our stay hear, and we would not hesitate to book again. We elected to say an additional night however, the Dolphin was fully booked, so we had to stay elsewhere, which was ok however, the breakfast was not as good at the Dolphin

There was nothing we didn't like about this hotel

The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was very big, clean and had everything we needed. The view was absolutely beautiful, breakfast was included in the price of the room, this was really nice and the service was lovely. Honestly could not fault our 2 day stay, the location of the hotel is perfect and we were able to fill up our time enjoying the sites and experiences Whitby offers. It is a busy pub but we didn't mind that and liked that we were given keys to the room and main door to come and go as we pleased.

Breakfast was beautiful, staff were very kind, friendly and helpful and hotel was intimate. Wonderful atmosphere and location. A charming traditional hotel that added to the ambience of the location. Would stay again.

Plug sockets in room were not in great positions and am not sure there was clear transparency over hotel WiFi as no log-in details in the room to connect.

Top notch.... no improvement needed Nothing to dislike.
