- It is a well maintained 16th century hall not far from the station and many restaurants, shops and amusements. It was quiet, the breakfast was copious and the evening menu had all we wanted. we will be back!
- We absolutely loved this hotel in Whitby. It felt incredibly English in the best possible way - cosy, charming, and full of character. From the moment we arrived, everything felt warm and welcoming, almost like stepping into a postcard. The atmosphere was lovely, the place itself was very cute and full of little details, and the staff were genuinely kind and friendly - everyone was smiling and made us feel truly welcome.Such a delightful and joyful stay. A really special place that we would happily come back to.
- Central location.near the train station.easy walking distance into the town centre.Lovely friendly staffFour poster bedGreat breakfastFree parking
Cons -
- very minor quirks due to the age of the hall but nothing worth reporting.
- The bathroom needs updating. The room was next to the ladies' toilets.People were coming in and out all evening.loud door slamming.Four poster beds are nice.matress very hard.Room above the kitchen.smells of grease coming into the room from 7am.Assumed it was the breakfast cooking
- Definitely overpriced for quality of room. Needs a refurb. No plug to plug hair dryer in front of dressing table. Dressing table chair needs reupholstering as sunk in middle. Mattress was quite hard.Obviously an old building but could do with a lift as top floor rooms very difficult to carry luggage up to. Tea,coffee, water and biscuits were a welcome touch.and the gift of toiletries.

Fantastic historical building and really friendly staff, who couldn't do enough for us. The room was great with original features, including slopping floors in our room. There was a raging storm the night we were there so we chose to eat in the resteraunt. The food was second to none. Sadly, we only had one night available to stay on this occasion as we had to move on.
We enjoyed the history and the quaint feeling
Some of the bar staff needs to step up their game
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Being disabled things like the stairs were hard work. They were helpful regarding the storing of my rented mobility scooter.
It's a beautiful old building but with really comfortable facilities in a very convenient location The staff were lovely and an excellent breakfast
It could do with a lift, but the exercise i suppose does you good
It was a nice experience to stay in an old building like this, the room was very clean and comfortable we slept soundly no ghosts bothered us! Breakfast was nice and staff friendly.
We have no complaints.
breakfast very good, lovely old hotel, nice feeling.
coffee machine in our room was faulty, and there is no minibar, so you have to use the UHT milk provided,
Beautiful spacious room, super comfy four poster bed, great location, lovely breakfast with a good variety to choose from.
Everything was perfect
The historic ambience. Four poster bed.
Not keen on leather suites. Small tv and hot weather would prefer a small fridge,
Breakfast was good.
The bed was too high to get on. Being under 5 foot I had to really jump to get on and when I had to use the toilet in the night it was dangerous. I walk with a stick so had to be very careful. The bed creaked every time you moved. The toilet when you flushed make a terrible noise so had to be careful in the night if you flushed the chain.
Fabulous peopleAwesome locationBrilliant food
Possibly provide plug points for charging. I had to use the TVs usb connection.
Perfect place for a weekend getaway. Great location for an easy short stroll into the centre of Whitby. Rooms are so nice and comfortable. Breakfast is really good with an excellent choice. Staff so friendly, polite and helpful.Whole place is rich in history. Made a very memorable stay.
Friendly, welcoming staff, large very comfortably furnished room, large comfortable bed, great shower pressure, excellent facilities and dining. Wish we had stayed longer
Nothing. It was all fantastic
Bagdale Hall is located within walking distance to the centre. Lovely old building which is decorated in keeping with its age, very quaint. Amazing breakfast and the service was spot on. Will definitely return
Staff are all lovely, polite and efficient.Location superb, just on the outskirts of town, 2 minute walk to the harbour and the shops and restaurants. The building itsrlf is stunning, beautiful old building. Excellent en suite. Breakfast was delicious, fresh high quality produce, preparef well.Parking available.
Our bathroom bin was full of someone elses rubbish on arrival, only one part used toilet roll (my wife took another from the ladies on the first floor). Some days the bar did not have certain draught beers.
Great location,food good,staff friendly, I'd stay again
Lovely building. Central location. Very clean and comfortable. Great breakfast.
Bar was closed when we returned at 10.00pm!
