About
Nestled between the Moors and the North Sea, Saltmoore is a luxurious, wellness-led retreat offering two distinct places to stay: Saltmoore House and The Beach House. Each room has been carefully designed with calming interiors, plush beds and thoughtful touches to help you unwind. The Beach House is located approximately 300 yards along the drive from Saltmoore House and a leisurely stroll between buildings will take around five minutes. Guests can enjoy seasonal menus across three restaurants, from refined Brasserie dishes to handcrafted sourdough pizzas. Spa treatments, thermal experiences and a state-of-the-art gym are also available at The Sanctuary at Saltmoore. Please note: Spa access is charged additionally and not included in the room rate. Should you wish to use the facilities while visiting Saltmoore, a fee of £45.00 per person for 2 hours' usage will be required. Pros +
- The rooms were very clean, warm, comfortable and nicely decorated. The shower was perfect. The service in the dining room was much quicker than our previous stay and the food was very good. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
- Nice modern and clean
- Staff were all very nice and helpful. The location is excellent for walkers.
Cons -
- I object to paying for the use of the Spa, especially if you just want a quick swim. There was no Greek yogurt/yogurt or muesli for breakfast. Although the food in the restaurant was delicious, both the food and drinks are very overpriced.
- Quite a distance from the car park
- The Construction site at the entrance to the hotel is very messy and muddy. The carpet in the corridors on the the upper floors had an unpleasant odour. The price of the rooms, food and drinks are very, very expensive. In my opinion there are better hotels in the UK at this price point.

Beautiful hotel with spacious rooms we stayed in the back view which had a separate living area fabulous decor. Customer service was exceptional. Lovely staff members who couldn't do enough for you.
Thought the restaurant was very expensive and it was a shame we visited a local fish restaurant and it was full of hotel guests. I think there should be more reasonable choices Brasserie style and include the fabulous local seafood on offer.
Location was great and the orangerie and restaurant were really nice.
Lots of building work going on outside reception on the first day and lots of building work at the front of the land. Lacked cosy spots in the building. And the hooks in our room were hanging out of the wall. For a hotel in that price range it lacked a bit of personality with the decor.
Food was fabulous and the service was great from start to finish
The spa is a little basic and not particularly good value for money
The property is beautiful and the design throughout the restaurants and spa is gorgeous. Staff were incredibly friendly. The grounds and location were also very pleasant. Great breakfast too!
To be picky, some things just didn’t make sense, cafetière only big enough for one cup, kettle had to be plugged in on the floor as no sockets nearby, fridge was empty except for one small bottle of water. The brasserie restaurant whilst lovely is incredibly expensive, very small portions in excess of £40 for a main dish is just too much.
The room was very clean and well furnished
We were unable to book a reservation at the restaurant as it was full. We were told we had the order a pizza from the pizzeria however when we phoned down at 8.30 we were told it had closed and we were unable to get any food from the hotel. We were told the only way to get any food was to book a taxi and go into town. So we ended up having to order a take away. The cafe that was at the spa also closed before the spa so we were unable to get any drinks whilst using the spa. The spa facilities were very small, having paid £45pp to use these. Overall it was a disappointing stay and I have since heard of other people with similar experiences being unable to buy drinks after their evening meal as the bar had closed.
Great location. Fabulous food.
No make up mirror in bathroomSome staff shouldn't be waiting on people
Breakfast was excellent. The room was comfortable, especially the bed, but the fridge wasn't cold (I think it needs some ventilation, being buit-in). Facilities for the dog were good.
I booked through Booking.com specifying that we were bringing a pet, but the allocated room was not pet-friendly. This was clear from the hotel literature but was not picked up by the Booking.com filter.
Location Staff were lovely Food was delicious Spa treatment was blissful, my facial was great with a lovely therapist
Needs much improvement for the price point, Spa area is small with mixed changing rooms, you have to always get a staff member to get in which is annoying. Strange toilet/shower rooms could have been explained better. Pool is cold, hot tub Luke warmCleanliness could be improved, bathroom very dusty Service was slow, bar area was under staffed Restaurant staff were very attentive but couldn’t explain dishes when askedHas a lot of potential but needs a lot of polish and improvement to meet five star standards, staff would benefit from extra training. Would have been nice to be asked how our stay was on departure
Excellent rooms, superb facilities.
There is some building work going on that made entering the estate a little tricky and muddy. They could possibly do with some signs saying where to park earlier on the lane from the main road. We had to wait for a couple of road making rollers/diggers. Not a big problem at all but maybe could have been warned
Loved the location! The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The hotel is beautifully decorated. The staff are attentive but relaxed. Breakfast was also very nice. Really nice stay!
The dinner was lovely, but just not worth £160 for two people who only had two courses and 1 drink. The spa was also quite expensive for what it provided.
The accommodation was excellent. However the fridge didn’t work. Reception staff were first class.
Some of the restaurant staff were un approachable and not too helpful. There seemed to be a lack of information about the hotel. The welcome screen on the tv didn’t tell us anything. The lounge bar was uninviting.
Lovely place with lovely environment and area. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Good food too.
A little costly
The room in the Beach house was lovely, fresh and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful
Location and style
Slightly too expensive spa access 45£ per person. I’d say 30£ would be more fair
The venue itself was stunning, the decor was top notch and it was truly beautiful. The staff were so welcoming and wonderful too. Special mention to Neve (receptionist), William (bar staff) and Caitlin (bar staff/waiting staff) thank you for making our stay feel extra special.
Very very thin walls. We were situated near the lift so we heard every door open and everyone walking past our room throughout the night. The room was also incredibly hot, even with us turning off the heating so we needed to open the windows and there was some unruly guests outside so we got very little sleep.
Lovely room and staff ,pity we wasn't told that we had to pay another £45 per person to use the pool as it was advertised as a spa hotel
Booking.com advertised this as a spa hotel, so we thought that we should have been able to use the pool but on arrival we were told we had to pay another £45 per person to use it, which left us feeling very disappointed, we thought £90 to have a swim for 2 hours was excessive so felt we missed out.
Great Location that a stones throw from Sand send beach and a few minutes drive into Whitby . Fantastic spa facilities, huge big bed and brilliant staff.
Could do with more variety on the menu at the restaurant.
