    Cons -

    • No criticism of anything.
    • Our bed was a little too hard but that is a personal preference. I asked reception if I can request a room with a softer matress on my next stay and they were more than happy to accommodate. Will return.

Everything about our stay was fantastic. From the kindness of the staff (we arrived very late due to appalling traffic), the comfort of our room and the quality of breakfast. We can't wait to stay here again.

I always enjoy my stays at the Jockey Club (approx 3 times per year) the staff are welcoming and helpful, the ambienceof the building is magical and quite unique. Quiet and very comfortable - the bedding and pillows are a joy. The bathroomsare always well equipped. The best part of the visit for me is the breakfast - its so tasty and the staff very attentive to your needs. Great place to visit.

    Leaving!

What an incredible experience staying at a property with so much history and elegance and class. The breakfast was to die for. The artwork and furnishings exquisite. Absolutely loved it.

With luggage to get upstairs with the small lift was the one tiny criticism.

This is a great place to stay in central Newmarket. It has loads of character and the room we had was spacious and very comfortable. We had views of the training grounds from our window and watched race horses being put through their routines in the morning. The cooked to order breakfast was first class and the staff were outstanding.

    Nothing at all.

The whole building was exceptionally interesting and we would have loved to have explored more or it and delved into the fascinating picture galaxies. The bedroom was clean and comfortable with a great comfortable bed and new up to date shower, although finding how it worked needed a degree of interpretation. Breakfast exceeded expectations with superb service. I could go on forever.

Lots of stairs and a long walk to breakfast. We would have loved to have dinner there as well. There was a lift if needed.

What a fabulous place to stay. Not to be missed. Lovely room giant bathroom. Wonderful time looking at all things racing. I even found some relations and their horse on the wall!! A must for anyone. 5 ⭐️

    Parking, great bathroom

Poor lighting in room. We had booked breakfast with the room because we had an early morning funeral. On arrival we were told breakfast wasn’t available and no refund to cover breakfast. We had to get up early to find a café and pay £25 we hadn’t accounted for. Accommodation was lovely but this spoiled the experience when we had travelled 200 miles.

Fabulous location on the high street with plenty of secure parking. Beautiful building and garden, full of history. Great spacious room with a huge bathroom and despite being close to the high street the room was very quiet and comfortable. All the staff were extremely helpful and polite. Definitely worth paying a bit extra to stay in this amazing place. We were travelling light so it was good to have all the toiletries supplied and robes and slippers were a bonus.

The room was a little dark as there’s no ceiling light and the table lamp didn’t work, I’m sure it would have been sorted if we asked but we were only there one night so we managed. The shower could do with a bit of fresh grout and the lip around the top of the bathtub needed a good clean ( you have to be in the bath to see ).A coffee machine would have been lovely as I’m not a fan of instant coffee.

The greeting from the team was excellent and very welcoming. The room was clean and exactly as described. The breakfast team were also very professional and the food was really enjoyable.

    Clean good location

Lack of milk tea bags in the room very small

So much to look at around the hotel - so much history. Considering the size and age of the building, and the fact there is so much to clean, the place is spotless. Staff are super friendly and tentative, especially Lauren who absolutely went above and beyond to help and accommodate me, she was amazing.

Central location, close to local restaurants, nice decor, free parking, you can see horses practising in the morning

The bar and restaurant are on site, but when we visited, they were closed for member function

We always love coming here and so do our family. This visit was disappointing. On arrival we were told we had an upgrade. No-one is going to complain about that but we had chosen a deluxe room for its extra large bed. The upgrade was a flat with facilities we didn't need such as the kitchen and dining room, but a smaller bed. I must have mistakenly booked room only as I had to pay for breakfast which also put a damper on the stay.

The Queen's suite, though magnificent to book if we had needed an airbnb, was draughty. we were freezing for a couple of hours as wind blew in all the windows during a rain storm

Very spacious room and bedroom. Everything is clean and love the full sized Bamford toiletries. It’s in a great location, plenty of parking and lovely being surrounded by all that racing history.

The room was a little hot for my preference.

    9BrianPosted on: 11-22-2025

Almost everything plus as it was a Thursday the "bar" was open!

The furniture in the room was in keeping with the decor but the chair very rickety. The breakfast room was lovely but cold.

    9RichardPosted on: 11-20-2025

It’s very english heritage. The centre of town. The breakfast.

More of a rorschach test, but its heritage may be off putting for some.

Staff were polite and very proffessional, rooms were exeptionally clean and well presented I will be 100% returning when i need to return to the area
