Pros +
- Location very good & convenient for exploring Exmoor & Dunster Show. Fortunate to get one of the 3 parking spaces outside the hotel-having dogs does mean you have extra baggage etc. Our welcome was by a very jolly lady.
- Standard pub hotel accommodation, decent sized room, staff that tried to be helpful, well located in Dulverton, which has a lot of choices for dining, and there's a Co-op across the street, making it a good stop if you're on a multi-day walking or cycling trip.
- Bed was comfortable. It was clean. Nice scrambled eggs.
Cons -
- Unfortunately we were informed on arrival that the Chef was unwell & no meals available that evening however there were many eating places close by. I had been informed on booking that they did not cater for Lactose intolerance-I agreed to bring my own no problems. Breakfast was entirely mis-managed which appeared not to have been forward planned. There were many guests & a printed menu on each table would have speeded up the process, also self-service of cereals etc. (usually the norm)-choice was limited corn flakes/granola. Fresh fruit limited to a few slices of banana or apple. My toast never arr-my friend who opted for poached egg on toast commented that the toast was 'soggy'. Another guest handled the coffee percolator to other guests-otherwise fill-ups would not have likely happened. Most guests were keen to get on with there visiting of the area. I had no information about the fee charged for pets. My breakfast certainly was not value for money.
- The wifi was terrible, and the staff, while nice and friendly, was often not around. this is a decent sized pub hotel with a large pub, and when we were coming and going we would be wanting to ask the staff a question or see other people in the lobby wanting to do the same, but there was no one around. It's an older building, so it's expected to be typically a bit musty like most pub hotels, but my friend had a really bad allergy reaction there, and sneezed the whole time. This was about the same price as other places on our trip, but definitely a step down in quality comparatively.
- Staff, very odd. On arrival we were met with a very rude, unhelpful, slightly sarcastic individual. He could see we were struggling slightly with the stairs but made no offer to assist. Wood chip everywhere. Very outdated. Toilet roll holder broken. Breakfast was very disappointing. No cereals or fruit. We had to ask for extra tea and coffee and toast. I found green mould on a slice of toast Wednesday morning. Furniture in room was old, outdated and broken. Bedside tables were extremely shabby and certainly not shique. Parking was on street only, in a cul de sac or a council car park. This wasn't made fully clear in the advertised blurb. Outside of the property is very run down and in need of a fresh cost of paint. We had to put up with some sort of compressor somewhere outside day and night. No view. Room 1.

Warm friendly ambience, great room, comfortable bed, accommodating staff
I liked everything about the property
We were made to feel very welcome. The room was clean and pleasant, the location very central. They accommodated for allergens well and I'm quite sure this hotel does the nicest cooked breakfast I've ever had.
Friendly staff . Good atmosphere. Very good location.
Noisy toilet system. Parking a bit hit and miss. We were lucky and could park for free just out side the hotel entrance. But making so close very limited. If not available you need to park in a public carpark nearby.
We had a very good two night stay , friendly and helpful staff , very tasty evening meals and two good cooked breakfasts
Great location, nice breakfast, beds comfortable. It lacked some atmosphere, basic
Good location
Dirty shabby bathroom.Cold shabby bedroom.Unprofessional staff who looked in need of a wash and tidy up.Poor breakfast, clearly cooked hours before serving.
A warm welcome and our room was comfortable. Breakfast was excellent!
The shower was a bit feeble!
A lovely old building. The family running the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Went the extra mile to accommodate our dietary needs.
Room and bathroom decor is old and basic.
central olcoation. great breakfast,nice bar
couldn't get the telly ot work but didn't bother asking for help
Friendly staff and great location.
Room was not very clean. Dust on the plug socket must have been there for months. Bar not very appealing. A lit fire would have been nice.
Excellent location. Spacious room with really comfortable beds. Quiet. Good cooked breakfast.
Decor a little dated
Superb position, great breakfast, amazing staff
Just needed somewhere to hang out clothes but have been told it’s being sorted
comfortable bedgood breakfast
missing knob on bedroom door lock!
Friendly hotel, lovely staff. Lovely beams and the room was fantastic. We had the three single bed room with en suite. Great selection of tea/coffee/bottle water and biscuits. Breakfast was all cooked fresh and lovely.
The bathroom could have done with a little TLC, there was a hole in the floor near the toilet.
The property is perfectly placed in the heart of Dulverton. Everything is within walking distance. The staff were very helpful, friendly and couldn’t be faulted. We actually forgot our sheet for the baby cot and the hotel supplied us with a bed sheet. The breakfast was very good and the coffee was great.
First of all the staff were exceptionally nice and super accommodating. Location is excellent
The mattress on one side of the bed was collapsed. It was impossible to sleep on. The hotel needs work. It's not that clean, but it's acceptable. We did not stay in the hotel for the nights that we booked and decided to come home early instead. The management was not available but we asked for a phone call upon their return - Still waiting for the call back.
Was in a great location. Lovely village . The bfast was lovely staff very friendly & helpful
Nothing it’s lovely hotel oldie worldie maybe needs a bit of tlc but with older building there going to be bits . But wouldn’t suit doing to much upgrade
