- Excellent room, very comfortable bed and food of the highest quality
- Fantastic location, clean, had everything we needed. The Team were friendly and polite, it had a family atmosphere. The chef created some fantastic meals. We will definitely stay there again
- Superb service from the staff. Wonderful location with plenty of parking. Delicious breakfast too! The evening menu looked great but sadly, we couldn't stay for dinner.
Cons -
- Shower pressure was a bit low but that is a minor issue.
- I enjoyed my stay here so nothing negative to say
- My only complaint would be the £10 price tag on a tiny starter. I have a feeling the kitchen ran out of the ingredients and still served it up but in a tiny portion.

Comfortable accommodation in perfect location for us. Comfy beds and well stocked tea and coffee tray. Fabulous evening meal in the lively bar.
Shower pressure was a bit low but that is a minor issue.
Lovely quiet locationI enjoyed the breakfast and evening mealMother and daughter were very friendly. My drive here was very scenic I'll be happy to return here in the future.

Great central location & friendly family run pub. Comfortable beds, ample parking & nice bar area. My group also loved the breakfast.

Staff were friendly & helpful. The location was in a lovely peaceful village, locals were very friendly also Food was beautiful & tasty both the evening meal & breakfast Great to have local art dotted around which you could buy Will definitely return
Only minor detail was the bedroom was in need of a bit of tlc but didn't detract from the stay ,
The breakfast was as expected
Unfortunately the water was freezing cold so we couldn’t have a shower or bath We did try to ring down to tell them but no answer however he did refund us £30 but it sounds like there was quite a few complaints that day
Dinner was really tasty. Breakfast was excellent too.Room was well appointed and a very comfortable bed.
The location is perfect for hiking to Dunkery Beacon and around the Moors. And it’s situated in a very pretty village.
Nothing not to like but the Wi-fi is very sketchy and in an area where mobile signal is really poor.
Great choice of continental and full English breakfastCatered for different dietary needs eg gluten free breadsStaff all very friendly and warm welcome when we arrived for check inWe had dinner at the hotel twice- excellent value for money & wide selection on menuLovely to be able to sit on the benches outside watching the Exford world go by- looking over the village green with occasional car, bike, tractor or horse going by! Perfect setting!Good central base for exploring the Exmoor area
Lovely setting in the middle of the village. The staff were really excellent and very helpful. Breakfasts were very good and catered for every taste. It was very busy with a wedding on but the atmosphere was excellent. The beer in the pub was excellent and a proper country pub.
Great breakfast, friendly staff, good local walks and dog friendliness a big bonus
No dogs allowed on ghreen opposite ut that's not the fault of the hotel, which has its own dog friendly garden area.
Couldn’t have asked for more amenable hosts. They made our visit completely accessible. The hotel was quiet, the bed was SO comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious!
Easy parking, comfortable rooms, nice location, great breakfast with a menu we could order from and very nice staff
Slight smell of mold in one of the rooms

Getting a little dated
The Crown is in a fabulous location, both within the village, and to tour Exmoor. The Bar staff and those serving breakfast were very friendly. We had a good evening dinner, and breakfast, not bad at all, but we prefer a ‘self service’ for Cereals, toast and Juices. The cooked breakfast was nice. The ‘real ale’ served in the bar, did have a problem, as the same ‘Exmoor Ale’, available from another pub in the village, on this occasion, was much better. So a ‘bad batch’ from their supplier, I think. Probably should have been taken off the bar, as the other ‘Exmoor beer’, was very good, and tasted the same as other local suppliers.
Some of the interior is looking a bit ‘dated’, but whilst we were there, workmen are replacing a flat roof and looked to be refurbishing a room downstairs, so investment is going into the well run hotel. The water pressure for the shower, was poor, and the supplied toiletries ‘basic’. I would have happily paid a little more for better quality, but this is only a minor, in what was a very nice stay.
Food was very good. Rooms were clean but disappointed they were not serviced during our stay. Outside of hotel looked a little shabby, inside was good.
Fact that rooms not serviced during our 4 night stay. Outside appearance of hotel shabby - peeling paint on windows and doors.
Absolutely amazing spot for hiking, friendly staff, great bar in the evening with friendly locals and a wonderful breakfast to set you up for the day - felt very welcome as a solo traveller! Comfy bed, and very clean.
Nothing to not like … staff were amazing and very friendly, all super clean but some areas of the hotel were a little ‘tired’
