About
Now back under local ownership, The Falmouth Hotel is waking from a long sleep to begin a brand-new chapter. Perched on the edge of Falmouth’s enchanting seafront, just a stone’s throw from Castle Beach below, an age-old elegance permeates the Victorian architecture that dates back to 1865. Housing 71 elegant rooms over four floors, each with a unique flair and many complete with breathtaking views out over the water, a stay at The Falmouth radiates a nostalgic charm. A hearty breakfast is available each morning, with a day of Cornish adventure lying right on the doorstep. Free parking offers a laid-back convenience, while complementary WiFi means you can remain connected throughout your stay. When it comes to food, the Castle View restaurant offers an elegant dining experience with a stunning sea vista, while the Castle View bar and lounge invites leisurely relaxation with a hot coffee or a glass of something chilled. Days in the sun can be enjoyed from the peaceful terrace and sweeping lawns that wrap around the property, not to mention the stretch of sand and rockpools on the beach below. With the additions of a gym, sauna, hot tub and indoor pool, as well as bespoke spa treatments, The Falmouth is well equipped for a seaside stay to remember.

car park was full and struggled to find a parking space initally.
Most of the staff well super helpful and the food was delicious
I paid for an upgrade the view was lovely but the room was dated and shabby. The bottle of wine we had with dinner was £57!!!!! It retails at £17 which is an horrendous mark up!!The spa area wasn't very clearly sign posted and to be honest the changing rooms were not very clean and look like they're half finished.
Staff helpful. Room upgrade really appreciated as it was a birthday celebration weekend. Vegan options available.
Dinner menu a bit limited.
The room was very clean and just as requested with Sea view. The staff were very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble when asked for milk, sugar and coffee top ups.
Location, parking. Very clean and plenty of hot water with excellent shower pressure.Breakfast was passable, cleverly they call a full English “The Falmouth “ leaving out fried bread, beans and Black pudding . Staff were attentive.
I understand the hotel had recently changed hands and refurbishment was in progress . However, our twin was tiny, both beds pushed together and barely room to walk the three sides. The built in furniture had reached its end , all the unit tops the original vinyl wrap wood effect was curling and peeling was unsightly . Noise was apparent , stayed Fri/Sat both nights had functions and the noise was noticeable as was from an adjacent room. I should have bought ear plugs! The public areas particularly the dining room need attention, I changed my dining chair on two occasions because the glue joints had gone dry and they weren’t stable.
Liked the refurbishment
Beds far too small for 2 peopleFalafel dish needed more sauce
Gorgeous building in a great location and fantastic views.Lots of parking tooI love the old grandeur of the place, rooms were maybe done in the 80’s / 90’s in not such a nice way.It would be nice to see them restored sympathetically incorporating that old grandeur.Lobby and bar area were lovely, the spa looked lovely too but didn’t get chance to use sadly.
The room was a little old and tired, I know rooms are being refurbished though and there are a lot to get through. The room where breakfast was served could also benefit to be renovated to be in keeping with how the bar area has been done.
The old style glamour and decor, it's next to brilliant beaches, the town and other cafes. The view from the lounges and dining areas changes with the weather, you never know what colour the sea will be from minute to minute. Beds were really comfortable. The food was of a great standard.
Not a problem for us we loved our stay in Jan 2026 but customers should be aware, that the hotel is going through renovations discreetly , the public room and many bedrooms have been upgraded, but some are being done slowly without causing noise and disruption to other hotel guests, so worth checking if you want a newly decorated room.
Everyone friendlyGood location Great facilities
Great view and comfortable
Room too hot - had to have window open whole time (very cold air coming in) so not ideal
Very comfy beds, slept well. The cooked breakfast was amazing, plenty of choice too. Staff are lovely and very helpful. Perfect for visiting Falmouth. Great view on a clear day.
I love the grand entrance and the Christmas tree was fantastic this year
Someone had left a coffee cafeteria fully used in my room
The staff's willingness to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
The piped music in public areas, It really doesn't enhance the experience. I imagine that in busier times there would be a lack of lounge space which would be of concern.
The view, the luxury, the plush surroundings, the warmth and the lovely bath and hot water.
Loved it all.
The view and location
Its a beautiful old building but it was a very stormy night so the sash windows rattled all night..cant be helped but did not sleep well because of it
Lovely hotel nicely decorated for Christmas overall enjoyed our stay
Breakfast was very slow had eaten breakfast before tea and coffee came out
Lovely location on the seafront with friendly helpful staff. Reminded me of a lively 1920's hotel and the breakfast choice was excellent and well cooked. Room was clean with the additional bonus of a side sea view. Would definitely stay again.
Only slight complaint was that we were in a twin room with no space between the 2 beds. Hotel does look a little tired in some areas but can see there is some decoration work underway.
The hotel and room was lovely.
As I have already said. I contacted the hotel when we booked, approximately a week before we arrived, saying that I had food intolerances and asked if fish of some kind could be available for breakfast. I was told no and sent the breakfast menu which meant that neither my wife or myself had breakfast. It's not difficult to get a packet of kippers or haddock, take out the butter and put it in a microwave for 3 minutes, but you weren't prepared to do that to satisfy our needs and have us as life long customers. Instead, sadly we will not return.
