About
The Alverton is perched on the outskirts of Truro city center. A magnificent, grade II listed building steeped in history, boasting original architecture dating back to the nineteenth century. Tradition meets contemporary, as you walk through the oak door, past ivy-draped stone walls and mullioned windows, to be met with sparkling service, award-winning food, and charming bedrooms. Enjoy two AA-rosette awarded food from the Alverton’s restaurant, overlooking pristine lawns, ancient beech and maple trees, and an outstanding array of bright flora. Much like the gardens, Head Chef Ollie Wyatt’s menus transform with the seasons, relying on the bounty of the county to deliver unforgettable flavors with every forkful. On warmer afternoons, nothing beats relaxing on The Alverton’s suntrap terrace with a signature cocktail, or a Cornish cream tea. The Alverton’s rooms marry classic stately home touches with contemporary, quirky interiors. Look out for original features, left untouched from many moons ago. The Courtyard suites offer extra opulence with decadent roll-top bath tubs, designer furnishings, and stained-glass windows. When you’re ready to explore the coast and countryside of Cornwall, you’ll find yourself in the optimum location. From Truro, hop on a bus, train, car, or boat and start venturing to our most famous landmarks. From the Eden Project’s indoor jungles, the old Cornish tin mines, and dramatic North coastline, to a mapful of National Trust treasures, fascinating museums, and exhilarating watersports, The Alverton is the perfect central base.

Everything was great.
Good location, lovely staff and good value.
My too was very worn. Black damp around windows and threadbare carpet. Bathroom was much newer it seemed.
Lovely hotel with beautiful rooms and friendly staff. Delicious breakfast too
Traditional hotel in lovely old building a short walk from Truro town centre with friendly welcoming staff and a spacious comfortable bedroom and en-suite.
More teabags including herbal teabags in the room would have been nice. Despite the dining room being fairly empty we didn’t get to choose where to sit for breakfast. Eggs Royale was served on burnt toasted crumpet and the coffee wasn’t great.
Beautifully presented and well maintained. Comfortable room with an excellent range of complementary drink options (and the local shortbread treats were delicious!). All staff were friendly, welcoming and very professional at all times and clearly take pride in their work! The breakfast was simply delicious and the restaurant food was top quality. The bar staff were knowledgeable and accommodating. Can’t wait to return.
The courtyard rooms are lovely. The staff always makes a fuss of you. The building is stunning.
This is our fourth visit and the food in the restaurant wasn't as good as previous visits. We stayed in exactly the same room as last time and the marks on the wall are still there it needs a bit of love.
We booked what I thought was a good hotel to have a comfortable place to rest our heads. Our room was no.12 top floor. It looked ok at first sight but it got excessively hot and stuffy even though the radiator did not feel hot. Tried to get to sleep but the pillows were hard and flat. Asked for replacement pillows but these were not that much better. We both felt absolutely shattered the next day when attending my cousins funeral which defeated the object of staying there. We spent over £200 not to get any rest and were very disappointed. We ate in the restaurant onOur first night and was charged for a sweet even though we could not manage it. In a positive note the food was good and we did enjoy our meals. Strangely my cousins funeral which was as Lao staying at that hotel but said her room was freezing cold and found it difficult to get warm even with the duvet on ending up using the duvet doubled over to get more warmth. Surely it is the hotel who should ensure comfortable temperatures throughout the hotel.
Its history. It is also a very beautiful building.
Very pleasant & professional staff. Hotel building is very interesting & set in attractive grounds. The rooms were a good size & nicely furnished and the food was a very high quality & plentiful.
The bed was comfortable but the pilllows were flat & hard - made it difficult to get to sleep. Money would be much better spent on high quality pillows rather than the 4 useless cushions that "decorated" the bed. Also I woke up in the early hours as I was very cold ( it was February ) & could have done with an extra/spare cover. However good the staff, facilities & cleanliness are, a hotel cannot be given top marks if the customer does not get a good sleep.
Absolutely everything just so beautiful, spotless and extremely welcoming too. The staff can’t do enough for you just so lovely, this was our third stay at the Alverton because it’s become our favourite hotel in Truro without a doubt. We have booked the executive suite for my birthday in August so looking forward to that already. Thank you to the Alverton hotel for another amazing stay at the weekend.
Everything is excellent
Very tasty breakfast, with plenty of choices. Comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
No lift to rooms but it is a beautiful old property.
Room excellent and comfortable breakfast superb and a great choice, I also had an evening meal there which was excellent as well very relaxing over night stay at an incredible price which was cheaper than premier inn and travel lodge
Always a lovely place to unwind. A free upgrade this time was a very nice surprise. Staff are without exception very friendly and professional. Easily the best place to stay in Truro.
So close to town centre. Free car park. Such friendly staff. Amazing breakfast. Room luxurious but comfortable. Fab walk in shower.
Room too hot at night despite turning radiators off.
Room clean and cosy, Bath towels great quality. Breakfast was great
A beautiful building in a perfect location.Hotel clean, awesome shower, comfortable beds .staff friendly , great breakfast choice .
Rooms too warm .so had to open windows.squeaky floorboards, but as old building, it’s to be expected.
The ambience and the professionalism of the staff. Beautiful surroundings and good food.
Room was a little dark.
Restaurant food generally good (but see below).Garden Room spacious, well furnished and clean (but see below).Nice clean ensuite. All hotel staff very friendly and helpful, made us feel welcome
Cobwebs hanging down from bedroom ceiling. Restaurant meal vegetables tended to be overcooked.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The service was excellent by well trained staff. Food was excellent and very well presented. Bed was very comfortable in a large well equipped room.
Coldness from the windows in the dining room. Better to sit away from the windows if you feel the cold.
