- Restaurant was closed due to staffing shortages so there was no breakfast. Also some of the fixtures and fittings are low quality and seem at odds with the impressive building. Finally, contact details for the hotel were impossible to find.
- Breakfast. Porridge disappointing esp for Scotland. No veg sausages.

Interesting building in a convenient location

Breakfast. Porridge disappointing esp for Scotland. No veg sausages.
The hotel fulfilled its requirement, especially having the venue for the jazz festival there , that is what we went for .I build Hotels the Ladore being my last one , the thistle now needs a little refurbishment to keep up with the general market , but again I enjoyed my stay and value for money and will stay again beautiful location to .
As above
Very comfy bed. Great walk in rain shower. Very good variety breakfast menu.
Been to this hotel when it was the Dreadnought. Big improvement in bedrooms, ours was lovely looking out on the river and large room. Hotel staff couldn't be nicer and we loved the bar area. Location is fantastic
Our shower was really just a trickle and was either roasting hot or freezing cold so took a long while to wash my hair in it. The corridors are looking tired and unloved and could have done with a hoover. Breakfast was ok for what we paid however I don't eat meat and had beans on toast both mornings. I then seen on the second morning one woman getting fruit etc as she was vegetarian but I didn't know that was an option to be honest
On the day we were due to check-in there was a power cut in the whole town and no mobile phone connections working either. Could'nt check-in as all systems were down. Staff did not know when power would be back up due to storm Amy. So decided to continue our journey back home as nothoing was open or working in the town. This was no fault of the staff but did not offer any advice on what to do.
Offer of a full refund would be nice!
Clean, comfortable and convenient for the Blues Festival
TV did not have a connection,
Great location, room and bathroom clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Great bar with live music.
Quite basic and functional, which is reflected in the the price. TV not working but probably due to outage following storm Amy.
The view, looking onto the hills
No tv channels,no heating and broken door lock which had to be fixed. The hotel has no emergency lighting during power cuts.Serious h&s issue.Only had continental breakfast as the hotel had no gas !It was dangerous getting about in the dark.
Nothing wrong with hotel ,music jn bar far to loud and went on for 8 hours non stop.no thought for the guests in the rooms above .this needs sorted also put the correct name on building.
Music to loud and went on for 8 hours
I was impressed by both the size of the room and the upgrade it has received since my last visit. Overall, I enjoyed my stay but it was ruined to a degree by the heavy storm on our first day and night which resulted in flooding. The power went out for several hours as too did the internet and phone services. Not the fault of the hotel of course but we felt it necessary to go home a day early as a result.
More guest information should be available. Reception staff didn't mention breakfast times or where the breakfast was being served. The guest information in our room only gave information about half board or all inclusive stays but didn't mention breakfast time. No details about the WiFi password either.
Hotel is central located. Rooms are spacious.Food from the bar was lovely .
It is a bit run down in the decorating.the bar area needs a full relief.in the rooms you need in the bathroom a blind on r sumthing so your not having to close the heavy curtains.
Comfortable stay. Conveniently located with access to restaurants and shops. Enjoyed the pub/restaurant on site.
I'd been prepared for an uncomfortable stay because of a lot of negative reviews, but had a really nice stay. As others have commented, it's definitely dated, but the room was clean (and huge) and everyone was really friendly.
Lovely place in Callander
Nice staff always helpful and happy taking bags to rooms golf club's
No breakfast
Shower broken. Very noisy during evening.
The location The room was very clean The staff were very pleasant Very close to the centre of Callander The price.
Very datedCurtains in the room were very thin and there was a street light beaming in all night long.Had to shut bathroom curtains to use the bathroom as clear glass meant no privacy.
Good access to all amenities room was large as was bathroom
Both rooms were cobwebs and dusty splashmarks from previous occupant left toilet was next to window very intrusive i gave both toilet and bath a clean before i used them no teaspoons or complimentry toiletries sugar and coffee gone hard and crusty in sachets
Location
Lack of cleanliness in room and ensuite. Decor tired and unkempt. Adjoining bar offered 'special deals for cocktails but staff on duty hadnt been trained to make them. Only redeeming factor was location very central.
