- Service, decor, surrounds, animals, everything!
- A very lovely setting by a loch with great walking from the door. Lovely decor and a very good restaurant for a special occasion. Our second night was spent in a wonderfully comfortable room and we received excellent customer service over our experience of the first night. Had a very refreshing dip in the loch after a long walk up the glen.
- Monachyle Mohr stood out from other (very nice) properties we stayed in on this trip as simply magical. We loved everything about it - the bucolic and charming siting within Trossachs, the artistic and eclectic appointments inside, the delicious and creative food, the VERY friendly and accommodating staff and lovely common spaces. A special shout out to Jane, Emma and Jamie who all made us feel at home and cared for. It wasn’t surprising that we met several guests who were repeat visitors.
Cons -
- Our first night was spent in a very hot, cramped room with two beds combined as one, which were of totally different types of bed! Very uncomfortable and discovered too late to do anything about it. One was super soft and the other had collapsing legs. The fan did not work. However, the hotel fixed it when we raised it the next morning and we got moved to a more superior room. The set menu was delicious but expensive and there were no other dining options. Dogs were not allowed in the dining area, yet the owners' dogs roamed freely in and out. It felt like the owners used the hotel for their extended family and friends as a bit of a home from home so sometimes it felt like as guests we were slightly in the way!
- Bit scruffy in places. Our towel rail which was actually in our room (as no bathroom door) was on all night on one of the warmest nights of the year and it wasn’t until the second time I woke in the night searching for the isolation switch that I found it hidden behind a bin on the other side of the room. When booking I didn’t realise this was a three star hotel. I probably booked in a hurry. Our stay cost us over £620 for one night in a small double room. We booked in for dinner not realising it was £100 each set menu. Dinner was fine nothing amazing. Breakfast was fine nothing amazing. I’ve read the reviews. I am clearly far fussier than most people but for this sort of money, I expect things to be pretty exceptional. Very overpriced. At least throw in the sauna!!

Homely. Staff friendly and we swam in the lock.

A working farm, in a spectacular settting. The old farm house and outbuildings have been renovated superbly without losing their rustic charm. The restaurant was superb, the staff obliging and friendly. It deserves the all the accolades it has received. Breakfast was excellent. Fresh baked bread, seasonal fruit as well as the usual eggs, bacon, smoked salmon, etc. A walk in the surrounding countryside was recommended by the staff and is well worth the time. The loch-side sauna and the mirror box are a fun experience.
There was nothing not to like.
Beautiful scenic location and gorgeous interiors. Cosy bar area, friendly staff and the food was fantastic. The breakfast was exceptional
Nothing I lived everything about it
Wine safari was a great activity and the owner Tom is a true host! Restaurant and service were top-notch. Great focus on top quality food and drink. Huge variety of rooms. Lots of added value like donkeys, highland cows, dogs, horses, morning bread for sale, sauna and the loch in the area. Steam showers in the rooms were an unexpected luxury.
Drinks were on the expensive side, coffee machines in the room seemed to focus on espresso sizes with no option for long coffee.
The location is stunning and the accommodation very comfortable. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful.
There wasn't anything we didn't like
Amazing location. Hotel with character. Friendly staff. And exceptional food.
Space to relax in the hotel is limited
Stunning location. Warm cosy interior with beautiful eclectic designed public spaces and bedrooms. Friendly staff and great food. A magical place .
Setting, staff, food, the animals! Everyone was really friendly and the service was great. The local walks were delightful.
It was very cold, but it was mid winter. Otherwise no complaints.
Dinner was amazing. The peaceful setting.
It was a little out of the way but it was a lovely drive along the side of the loch
Very pretty in a beautiful location. Staff friendly and helpful. Most activities appear to be aimed at high worth individuals and include deer stalking, for those that like shooting animals to make themselves feel powerful, sea plane rides and driving tanks or something like that.
We were really looking forward to the meal and while the service was great the food was not. Tiny portions, greasy and just not good. It represents very poor value for money, I think it was 85GBP per person without drinks. The best bit was the Tesco delivery van parking right outside the dining room window towards the end of the meal, that added value!
Everything. Feels like the most beautiful home away from home. Relaxing, delicious food, lovely staff, gorgeous scenery.
Beautiful location - stunning views and walks. Hotel is a mix of quaint old stone buildings combined with some modern standalone buildings. Bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly.
Our room was small - some might call it cosy, I expected more for the price. The hotel has a shabby chic style, however there were a few areas that were too shabby and could do with some love. Food was a little overpriced.
Everything! From the family owned and operated aspect, to the over the top exceptional service from all staff to the incredible cuisine and the bliss of admiring the working farm on site; everything was perfect, comfortable and gorgeous.
Nothing!
Fabulous location, lovely staff, excellent service but also relaxed.
Everything is effortless at Monachyle. The staff are super friendly and have every detail sorted to perfection without you even needing to ask. It's not cheap, but worth every penny.
Scottish weather!
Great hotel in a remote location. The restaurant was exceptional. The room was comfortable if a little snug. Lovely lounges for relaxing in. The only downside was the music which was intrusive.
Turn off the music!
We liked everything about it. The location, staff food and facilities were all first class
