Beautiful setting
The roof leaked creating austy smell in the hallways accessing the room. The room was dry not leaks
Excellent breakfast! Plenty of variety.
Nothing I didn't like but possibly would have been helpful to serve tea to the table as you need 2 trips to get teapot, milk, cup and a glass of juice across the dining room before you even start with food. Minor thing, though, but maybe more of an issue for older people. Maybe trays would be an idea? Perhaps a poached egg option would be nice?
The decor and staff were lovely. The restaurant was great and food delicious, breakfast was great and a good time window, a pleasant stay. Check in and out were easy. Parking good. pool and changing rooms good.
It was cold sat in the lounge / bar areas it needed a roaring fire to make it excellent. The chair in the room could have been two and short on pillows. We didn't like the coffee bags. The radiator was noisy. The corridor needed a refresh.
The quality of food in the Kailyard is exceptional. We have eaten here before. It never disappoints. The standard of food is as good as we've eaten in any restaurant
On this occasion the service could have been better in the restaurant. The staff were excellent and very professional but there simply wasn't enough of them. To give you an example we ate Sunday night, restaurant was busy. We ordered drinks and water for the table but the starters arrived before the drinks and water which is not right. The staff were just swamped. You will need to ensure that there are sufficient staff for the number of customers
Gorgeous outside. Good location.
I wish they had told me upon reservation that they were remodeling outside. There was scaffolding all over the outside and my room. The curtains were half hung. The chair had the leather coming off. I had to call about the curtains which was surprising. The window was broke and didn’t open. I’ve never been in a king size bed with two twins pushed together and no connector in the middle. When I could sleep, I ended up in some sunken divet in the middle of the two beds. The pillows were shit. When you fold a pillow it is supposed to bounce back otherwise it’s too full of dust mites etc. only one pillow did this. I was there 9 days and when they did come into the room they simply made the bed and didn’t change the sheets except for once. I was out of tissues for 3 days. After coming in and “tidying” I was left with no mug for tea and no sugar. I had to actually ask to have them put a mug back. Isn’t there a checklist or something? I mean maybe I am being overly critical but, I really did not enjoy my time there. I went to Doubletree because they usually have high standards. Between the bed and pillows I barely slept a full 6 hours. By contrast my 2 nights before in Glasgow hotel and my nights after in Edinburgh I slept amazing.
Hotel is in a good location to visit area near and further afield
Unfortunately the room was cold and we had to ask for a free standing heater in the room for the time of our stay. Also not very keen on the dining room dinner menu as we have simple tastes and couldn't find anything on the menu that we could eat and ate out during our trips. Beds were comfy but why put double duvet covers on single duvet causing the duvet to be heavy and unmanageable
Location. Five minute walk to the town
Room was very dated and tired. Was not pre warned that there was scaffolding covering our window and drilling going on right outside for the duration of our stay. Workmen starting before 8am.
Advertises a 5 star hotel accommodation is poor for the three star of your lucky
Accommodation block it's all the tired squares upgraded won't be staying there again
Lovely location, friendly staff. Nice meal in restaurant and breakfast good.Clean and comfortable room.Nothing to complain about.
Clean comfortable and well priced.
In need of some modernisation.
The hotel is in lovely grounds and full of character. The breakfasts were excellent and something for everyones taste.
The sauna was not available and there was some construction but this did not impact us.
The staff helpful.
Flys in room as bathroom window was left opened, beds to high pillows not good, felt I was tilting in bed, people banging doors at night., dinner very salty, bathroom door black marks over it, one chair for two people, could do with a make over.
The property is grand and impressive.
Very dated and its age is showing. Bathroom was moldy but bearable. Even had cobwebs in our room. Shower pressure was poor. For what you pay, no robes, slippers, washcloths or basic bathroom amenities (save for spare toilet roll). 2 minutes before opening for breakfast, you are made to wait instead of hospitably sitting you comfortably in the restaurant. Breakfast is meh. Who needs loud doof doof music early in the morning in the bar/lounge???
The organisation and choice of food at breakfast was excellent; the hot dishes were piping hot and very fresh, plates were heated and the staff were very helpful and cheerful! The selection of cold food was also excellent, and what we really appreciated was the separate area for gluten free food with its own toaster, which is exceptional.
Nothing comes to mind!
Friendly and accommodating
The property was positioned on a hill in a beautiful setting. It looked almost like a castle. The rooms were spacious and clean .
Food was very good and service
I did not get the room booked with walk in showerMy bed was broken and the mattress had collapsed on one sideI was emailed and asked if I would like an upgrade to a junior suite for £25when we arrived there was no upgrade receptionist showed no interestWedding at the hotel our room was above front entrance and lots of noise from people and cars until early morning
Beautiful historical hotel. Most food was excellent! One night was not. Breakfast TOP SHELF1 included dinner was divine. 2nd night the beef was so tough couldn’t chew easily
