  • Location was the only good thing!
  • The location was good. The heater heated the room quickly. The power of the shower although the temperature of the hot water was actually too hot.
  • The Food buy it was being refurbished in Gala room so had to spend time in the lounge it's was not nice to be honest. Shortage of staff as well everyone mucked in well. The Disabled toilet is not very good it's need to be changed it's hard to get into the toilet because of the doors aren't accessible in a wheelchair. So toilets not Dusable friendly at all

Cons -

  • Yes, it was very outdated, badly decorated, the bathroom stank and it was BOILING hot!! A horrendous night
  • Large pothole accessing the carpark. The smell when we entered the room.Lack of fridge in the room. There were only 2 plug sockets. A socket by the bed would have been good.A bath mat when coming out of the shower.A modern toilet cistern would be better for reducing water usage.Decor is 'tired'.
  • The Disabled toilets were un accessible when in a wheelchair or Mobility scooter. The doors into the Disabled toilet are nit accessible at all

A stunning hotel. The family rooms are spacious so allows the children movement. Stunning views.

Car park was full so had to find another parking space which took about 20mins. But to be fair it was Valentine’s Day and a Saturday.

The only positive was the location by the harbour, which offers nice views but unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to make up for the rest of the experience. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to others.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Grand Burstin Hotel in Folkestone. The hotel feels very dated and poorly maintained, with tired décor and worn furnishings throughout. My room was not properly cleaned with stains on the pillow cases and bed sheets, hairs in the bed and the room smelt of damp and mould. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been updated in decades. The food was below average, with limited choice and poor quality. Staff seemed overwhelmed and uninterested, and service was slow at both reception and in the dining areas. The overall atmosphere felt chaotic rather than relaxing.

Worse hotel I've ever stayed...

Not clean food was disgusting plates were dirty had to move 6 off the pile to find clean one not much choice and what was there was cold rubbish disgusting crap then went to bar to get a milk shake and to be told sorry got no ice cream so ok pint of soda with lime o no lime its run then some one went out to grab a bottle of lime which was a mission to get them to put right amount in so my wife could taste it was a shambles went back up to room at which point my wife had enough and ask can we go home so at 8 pm we checked out so had all of 5 hrs in there never again this was booked as my wife had cremated her dad the day before and this was for to enjoy and over her dad but just made it much worse thanks burstin for that the whole hotel is very outdated rooms look nothing like pictures

had room only but food in bar was good when ate there but bar staff was always friendly and couldn't do enough to help, only booked single room but it had a double bed in my room anyway

only downside bingo wasn't on every night as hotel not to busy but had a quiz if you wanted to join in or the terrible twosome singers most enjoyed but not to my taste sorry!

The location

Parking was diabolical. Really unsafe and unsure how no one damages their car in the car park. Staff were rude and unwelcoming. 3 of us staying in the room, we were only given 1 large towel.

I booked that hotel ONLY because of the swimming pool. I asked about it at the reception and enquired about using it. At no point I was informed about the swimming pool being closed earlier on that day. I arrived at the pool after 6pm and was told I can't enter. I would have not booked to stay there if I knew that. I stayed at that hotel 3 times and I was always happy but on this occasion I have to complain.

How the room was not hoovered properly, towels were dirty with stains and had to go to reception to get clean ones.

There was other activities taking place within the hotel that weekend, that made the stay better

Very basic, relatively clean, no frills. I think over priced for the facilities

The view was great - window was at a slant so had to be directly infront of the window - but still had full view of the sea. Check in was easy and simple - we did it onlineThe room size was managable for four of us.

One of the plug sockets kept malfunctioning; this could be a fire hazard. The breakfast room was very cold, quite uncomfortable to be in.The room wasn't as clean as I would have liked. I could see hairs over the carpet and dust in easy-to-spot places. It is as though they did a quick wipe around, made the bed and replaced the bin. The noise from the room next to us was loud - not completely the hotel's fault, but some soundproofing measures could be added. Not so important - the vending machine only accepted coins, maybe this could use an update. The car park - avoid unless spaces are obviously noticeable - cars were parking here, there and everywhere, in front of other parked cars that were in bays, many cars just made their own spaces.

Booked one night in addition to a Get2Event. Despite it confusing the issue a little, the gentleman on reception was extremely helpful in sorting out room & making it possible to keep the same room for the whole weekend. I didn’t get his name, but he was helpful, polite and seemingly worked everywhere, behind the bar, sorting dietary issues for one of our party. In addition to him, two of the restaurant staff deserve a mention too - Martin who not only sorted/communicated with the chef over the dietary requirements, but served it to the table himself. Above & beyond the call of duty. The other member of staff was the very friendly and polite Marga. She had a friendly, welcoming smile and never failed to ask how we were. Hope to see all three again next year.

The lifts aren’t quite adequate for the number of rooms/guests.

Bad

It was very dirty and old and the staff said breakfast was at 7AM and it wasn't served till 7.45 making me miss my breakfast as we needed to catch a train and they refused to give us a refund for breakfast

Check in was a complete Chaos. Qued for check in even if we had the on line check in! the room was knackered and the toilet as well. came in with the freezing room and we didnt know that we need to manually turn on the radiator as reception didnt tell this to us. The car park was full in arrival, so what is the point of us asking our arrival time when the service we need isnt available. We have to park at the private parking for the night costing us more. The rate of the room is not even a good value for money. Very disappointed with the view of my room as well as on the web the room looks very beautiful with the view from the marina. it was awful we had the view of the utility. We have traveled from Cambridge and was very tired only to be disappointed with our room. not going back not even recommending this to my family or friends.

It was perfect location to get to the beach, harbour, restaurants. We had a sea view room with a balcony so it was lovely views to wake up to

It is a little dated but we didn’t pay a high price so we wasn’t complaining. The mini fridge in the room had a slight smell of fish and the bed wasn’t the most comfortable( could feel the base of the divan under the mattress so was quite hard when you sat on it ) but we did have a good night sleep

5JamiePosted on: 2-16-2026

The location was amazing with great views

Parking was atrocious T.v didn't work And window was broken constant wind coming in from vents and window seals

7AkposPosted on: 2-16-2026

Was alright not bad , old a little bit nothing extraordinary or too modern . Basic but good value for money considering we were 6 altogether. Staff very helpful and friendly

Old, a bit cold for me, not all that spacious ie room size

7DieterPosted on: 2-16-2026

It was cheap and Sunday lunch

Room wasn’t ready until 3.40pm and when we went to enter the room the door card wasn’t working and so we went to reception to tell them they hadn’t activate the door card and by this time the Queue to check in was 15-20 couples deep and I was told to join the back of the queue after explaining my issue.
