Pros +
- Pretty much everything was perfect, the room was modern but rustic, the cleanliness was 100% too (if they can sort out the wet weather that would be a bonus :) ). Excellent for a romantic evening. Highly recommend it!! Area / setting looks nice (shame about the weather, so couldn't explore more).
- Everything! From the moment I arrived there the staff was so welcoming and the receptionist even managed to change my room! So I could have a bath and a shower as I had my little girl with me .
- Location, friendly staff, romantic atmosphere.
Cons -
- Only thing that could maybe be improved is that its an old barn / stable conversion and the front door shut wasn't sound tight, was kept awake a bit by people going into adjacent rooms a couple of times. But this should not put anyone off.
- I had not complaints about the hotel at all! The only thing that I had a problem with was on one of my nights when staying at the channels. A couple next door to me had a verbal domestic in their room !! Till 3am . And I did report this the next day to the reception.!
- We stayed in Chestnut room and it was really cold.

Location, friendly staff, romantic atmosphere.
We stayed in Chestnut room and it was really cold.
Room very good, warm and comfortable when we arrived. Facilities excellent, great shower and bed. Fridge and teas and coffee, biscuits etc.
The only small negative was that the room heating went gradually down during the night and there wasn’t any apparent way to turn the radiators up, coupled with a cold tiled floor it felt slightly chilly later that night and in the morning!
i stay here quite frequently, lovely room designs and location.
The room was cold on arrival and took some time to warm up, once i realised the air con unit also supplied heat it warmed up comfortably.
A pleasant place to stay. Lovely ambience and friendly staff.
Building works to get to the hotel. Punctured my tyre, not the hotels fault though.
The room was beautiful, the bed was super comfortable and the breakfast was tasty
Could have done with some slippers. The room could have been warmer. The breakfast staff were not the friendliest.
Our room was very clean and laid out really well with a very comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and good storage space. Very quiet location and very good breakfast.
The cafe where breakfast is served is quite small and was fully booked on the Sunday morning so had to go back 15 minutes later which was an inconvenience.
Cute, pretty, good staff, good quality lovely lodge feel, warm rooms.
Parking was tight
Lively spacious room. Easy check in. Helpful staff.
Can’t fault it
Rooms are very nice you get a nice bathrobe tea and coffee and a wonderful breakfast
Everything was great
Really comfy room. Particularly liked the underfloor heating, the spacious bath and the firm beds. Stylish decor with a touch of luxury - really good value for money. Excellent customer service - reconfiguring the room to our needs, clear instructions. Loved the Christmas decorations! Nice grounds and footpaths on the doorstep for getting a dose of fresh air and exercise.
The room was too hot at night with no obvious way of turning down the heating, and no window that could safely be opened for ventilation (the only windows that open are large enough for someone to climb through). The breakfast was fine and understand why single-person portions of cereal, jam and butter are convenient, especially when short-staffed over the Christmas break. But would have preferred bigger containers of muesli/granola to decant from (less wasteful) and also yoghurt and more fruit selection. But that's just personal preference - for anyone who enjoys a cooked breakfast the selection was great.
Location, easy access to Chelmsford and Broomfield
Draughty window
Style, a lot of space, hige bathroom, tasty breakfast
The settingsThe bathroom was unbelievable Lovely bed
The bottled free water did not taste nice at all, and we didn't want to pay £3 for the water in the fridge. The tap water from the bathroom dis not taste good eitherThe breakfast was very minimal, not a great deal to choose from
Room was beautiful
No one on reception when we arrived. It was easy to get our keys but I feel somewhere like that should still be manning a reception until later than we arrived.
Well placed for Chelmsford where my son lives gorgeous suite and great value for money and very quiet at night
The hotel staff the location was fantastic. The room was absolutely stunning, very peaceful and easy parking.Overall a fantastic stay.
Nothing at all everything was on point.
Have stated previously and had great cooked to order breakfast in this occasion we had a buffet - food was good but prefer cooked to order. Good range of food, not very keen on the orange juice. Fresh ground coffee in bedroom and cafetière was a fabulous surprise
Orange huice
Plenty of room, has everything you need
Cook had not come in for breakfast, limited options as a result.
