County Hotel

Booked the 2 bed apartment and it was huge! Had everything you could need. Walking distance into town. The beds were very comfy - even the sofa bed in the lounge.

The cabinet door does not open easily; you have to lift it because it touches the carpet,very old bathroom

The staff esp the lady in the reception (black hair) and Lawrence from the restaurant . They're both lovely and so the rest of them

The noise of the fan in the bathroom The parking fee of £10 BEC we booked our hotel through booking.com and not direct. This shouldn't be the case ,how will customers know that ???Also the room showed when I was booking it , it wasn't the one we had...it's small. We didn't complain as it's only 2 of us what's the big deal but I was only expecting that they will deliver what has been shown

Idea location. Room was clean, warm and comfortable. Value for money. Food was good.

I think i would find the noise level of folk allowing their room doors to slam especially in high peak time too much. Fortunately there were not too many guests staying in the month of Feb when I stayed.

The hotel was in a good location, the room was clean and well stocked for tea etc, it had everything required for a nights stay

Ths mattress, although not uncomfortable, could do with being replaced as the springs kept 'pinging' !

My room was perfectly good for a short stay. The bathroom was small but clean and adequate except that I was unable to work the shower over the bath. Instructions would have been a good idea!

I have never been to Chelmsford and I came for a one night stay to be close to the Easters the next day. I had the greatest difficulty finding the hotel although I could see it vaguely on my map. I nearly gave up having been down the dual carriage way under the arches three times and eventually found myself at the university and somebody was able to describe how to get there!!! You need better sign posting, perhaps on the roundabout, as it is v difficulty to find ones way round the back.

Heating was iffy' and shower was pulsing - not the shower head, the water pressure.

Shower in the room did not work. This was reported.Layout of the hotel is quite lengthy and difficult to navigate round to rooms with luggage.

The housekeeping was very polite and very prompt

Bedding was clean, nice refreshments in the room and great value breakfast with quality and varied choice. Also great location and staff were lovely.

Not the hotels ‘fault’ but between midnight and 2am it was very noisy from, I think, the room above. Sounding like stomping around and dropping heavy things. Could have been a corridor and loud door above but I think it was a room - not sure if anything can be done from the hotels side really, if people walk loudly and slam doors.Also as a solo female traveller, staying in a room with an exterior lock door to get to the building and then a fiddly key pad door it did cross my mind that if I had returned late at night I may have felt a bit anxious to get in the room quickly. Otherwise my stay was fine and value for money.

I wouldn’t know. I turned up at about 12 midnight after pre booking the doors were locked, nobody answered the buzzer and nobody answered the phone. Refusing to refund even though I didn’t stay there and it wasn’t my fault that there were no staff to answer the door.

No heating on in room. Walk-in shower had two wooden, slippery steps Room was changed for second night but was still cold. Heating in shower room not working and no hot water. Lift had broken down.
