Pros +
- I did not have breakfast and was not aware it was available. I ate dinner in the pub, and food was very good.
- Comfortable room, good communication from staff regarding check-in/checkout procedures, nice meal at the pub. People in the village very friendly and helpful.
- Clean room, comfortable, clear instructions for arrival Two double rooms were quiet and peaceful Tea and Coffee making provided Nice touch - little Easter eggs on the beds (it was Easter weekend)
Cons -
- We got in late and it was so hard to figure out how to get in. This is just rooms over a pub which was closed so there was no staff to talk with. When I called earlier they said everything was through Booking and wouldn't help at all.
- Tiny room with twin size, uncomfortable bed. Very hot, no tv. No staff around. Grumpy man helped me get key out of lock box. Very hard to carry my suitcase up steep stairs -- no offer of help. Duvet cover was too short and did not cover feet in bed. Mattress was yellowed. I was very worried about bedbugs, but did not have a problem. Blanket at end of bed seemed dirty. Very isolated location.
- As others have stated, internet coverage is not good, but I was given access with the private account and that worked well. Only a few of the TV channels came in properly, but I didn’t really care as I was out most of the time. There is also quite a bit of traffic on the road just outside, and when warm/with windows open, it’s a bit noisy.

No breakfast available; not clearly communicated beforehandImpersonal process; key box on a wallVery loud noisy music from one room in the accommodation
Very easy in every respect. No contact with staff so unable to comment on that. Just one observation; there was no easy chair in the room. An upright chair and small table to work at were all the furniture apart from bed and bedside tables. Bathroom was excellent. Bed was excellent. Thank you.
Easy location for our Pilgrims Way walk (near A31 for collections and drop offs). Easy entry to accommodation - key lock fully explained (code arrived on day of arrival), room large, very quiet, tea, coffee and small fridge. Good food served in Pub, happy staff. Easy parking. Oh and any CPAP users, good socked located next to bed.
Our shower - not sure if working correctly in Room 4, but used friends in Room 3 seemed to have far more pressure.
Comfortable room at a pub with a great menu in a quiet location close to Alton town centre
Large comfortable room with excellent parking adjacent. Separate access from pub below. Heard no noise. Accessing room from coded key box easy and communication from the owners good.
Minor issue connecting to the wi-fi but this was resolved. Would have loved a biccy with the tea & coffee provided.
Food was great and the staff were really friendly and helpfull
It's rural, so the WiFi dropped in and out, not their fault though
Nice location not that far from the town and on the bus route. Nice clean room.
I didn't feel safe as there were people running around outside the room in the corridor in the night.
Character, location, pub food. Dog friendly.
Very poor wifi. Room was not refreshed in 4 days- bin not emptied, tea/ coffee/ milk not topped up. Decor a bit shabby.
Good pub lunch and atmosphere - prior to accessing the official stay period in the property. Would recommend for a Sunday lunch.
No breakfast. No evening food available in pub on a Sunday evening. Two journeys to local town required. Not clear from the booking that we were effectively just hiring an overnight room.Booking.com offer the choice of a pre-paid full English breakfast or an optional breakfast for the same price that is not pre-paid. No mention of a prior reservation before the day. No staff interaction during the actual period of stay.
The add states it as a bed and breakfast .Not so,they do Not do Breakfast at all
The room has a key safe outside . We should of had a key code from booking .com . So i had to get it from three horse shoes. It should have come with the booking. Not so.Anyway we got in .The tv is a joke only works with internet Internet no signal poor phone cover. And on Monday the pub is closed. Will not book on line again in future go direct.
A very pleasant night and extremely good value for money. Lovely old style country pub with lovely walks around around the vicinity. Served us a great meal. A pleasant, country style room which felt homely and relaxing after a day working.
Near the party
Did not get my key card till a day I arrived and then no room key in the box then someone was in the room that was for me
Welcoming & very easy going Food was lovely
Unaware of booking breakfast
Food was excellent and the owners ad staff were very pleasant and obliging
No breakfast, nowhere to hang clothes, noise from kitchen extractor fans. Room was small and the bathroom sink was without a plug.
Love the ambience and the food was spectacular. Entertainment was glorious and the people of Hampshire are exceptional
No problems. All good.
Our room was very comfortable and well equipped. Bit noisy from nearness to the road and car park.Breakfast was non existent. Were told we should have booked it when we booked the room. This is not at all clear on the Booking.com website. Luckily we had tea making facilities in the room so started our 3 hour journey home home with only a drink.Lunch with a large group of friends was very enjoyable. Interesting choices.
Lack of breakfast. Arrangement for access to the room seemed a bit impersonal-----a key safe. Enjoyed our stay but felt a lack of the personal touch. All locked up when we left so no one to thank or say goodbye to.
Location was good. Bar staff very nice.
On arrival there was a function on - luckily for us, as there was no way to get into our room. ( normally the pub would have been closed at this time). Details about where the key was arrived 1 hr after our arrival and even if it had come sooner there was no key left out for us. Due to the 'function' staff were there and were able to locate the room key.Room was small as expected but first night there was a noise in the chimney breast that sounded like a washing machine spinning until approx 6am. Not only did it keep us awake it also had another guest knocking on our door in middle of the night re the noise - he wanted to know if we heard it too and who could he ask to have it sorted. We didn't know. No one available on premises to sort it.We mentioned it the next day to the person who appeared incharge and she dismissed it showing us everything was off , they dismissed it as though we were hearing things!. We noticed from the outside on top of chimney there was a large fan device! Next evening there was no noise. An apology and admitting they had made a mistake by leaving something on would have been understandable and much better than total denial !
