Cons -
- Had to run the hot tap for three minutes to get some hit water for a shower....interesting.Maybe it's worth briefing your staff about this so guests know this happens...saves staff time and guest disappointment.....it's an old hotel with quirky things....no problem.

Very relaxing food great staff friendly and helpful a great time away extended to 2 nights
Too short
I arrived early and was able to park in their car park. From start to finish, all the staff were lovely and very accommodating to my request to eat in the restaurant rather than the main pub. The food was lovely, from breakfast to their main meals and puddings. I would recommend The Bear to anyone
I was in a room with a step outside, a notice inside the room to 'beware of the step outside' would have been good as I nearly forgot about it the first time I left the room. I was meant to say something to the staff but didn't get round to it
Food was
Beds rock hard and only one towel in a double and needs repainting
The Bear Hungerford was very comfortable and the staff were very happy to ensure our stay was great, we hosted a Burns night event for 50 people which went perfectly… Thankyou
Lovely building and courtyard. The room was great, very clean and comfortable beds. Our room looked out on the river flowing. Would recommend and definitely stay again!
The larger toilet button was broken but did not affect the stay! No other thing to fault, great place!
Location staff bars
Very dirty windows very dirty window sill view of rubbish on one side patio door was unlockable no safe bathroom needed layer of human grease and soap removed some black mould on sealant and corners. Not a pleasant place to stay great potential but this standard is not acceptable. I emailed this to you and received no reply
Staff very friendly and room comfortable.
We stayed in a ground floor room which was great for us. There was rubbish outside the door which obviously had been there for a while. I reported it as I left.
It was historic convenient and very warm also easy to find, with very friendly staff
Lovely hotel with great parking, I was over in the annexe so nice and quite, great staff and food and a nice pint.
Good location and good size room
I could hear the TV of the room next door so clearly. Shower was not so good and there was a cobweb in the door way. Rooms were a bit tired.
I've been staying at The Bear weekdays for 6 months whilst working in the area, great hotel with absolutely fantastic staff, great pint, food is nice and rooms have been lovely and warm in this cold spell. If I'm back in the area I won't hesitate to book back in..
Nothing not to like
Room was warm and cozy, food was good
Bar area was cold and not cozy
Comfortable, spacious, amazing locations, characteristic rooms and venue
The room was beautifully warm, and the beds/pillows very comfortable. Our dinner was delicious and served quickly. Free parking is always a huge bonus in this day and age, and The Bear was easy to find and right in the middle of Hungerford.
Unfortunately, the shower/bath/toilet let the hotel down badly. The bath plug did not fit, and it was impossible to draw a bath - the water drained away almost as quickly as it came out of the taps. Resorted to the shower, but the water came out in a powerful jet, rather than a spray, making the shower an uncomfortable experience. One of the toilet flush buttons had no cover, and the wooden board covering the cistern did not fit, and kept falling into the void. Note to management: the bathroom in Room 21 needs urgent attention.
Friendly staff hood food quiet location
We were given the bridal suite which was lovely but attention to detail in the cleaning is needed. Cobwebs on light water stains on wardrobe door shower head dirty
Breakfast very good. Dinner on Christmas Eve very good too and my room no problem
Nothing really
Location. Cleanliness. Nice staff. Very friendly and helpful. Good food and nice bar. Parking. Rooms good.
The room was lovely and the bed very comfy. We had a small issue in the bathroom which when mentioned, they got sorted straight away. Breakfast was really good as was an evening meal. Centrally situated so very easy to walk to shops etcWould definitely stay again.
