Cons -
- it was a room ,, Troubadur" with an entrance door from the street, there are cracks in the door, I was very cold at night, the battery failed. I had to put on a down jacket and sleep in it, and I had to warm myself with a hair dryer. Also there are too many options on the TV, they need to be turned off forever.
- Nothing to not like. Would use again when visiting family. Maybe a shelf/towel rail in the bathroom for travel wash bags/towels to go on, and we couldnt get the bedside lights to work for some reason but didnt affect our stay.
- It's an old building and the floors upstairs are sloped so be careful if wearing heels or had a few drinks!

Great central location, my little boy loved watching people walking up the high street from the windows. parking secure. We had a family room, sofa bed and a heouge double bed that was comfortable. Room felt recently decorated and clean. Loved the elephant towel gesture. Nice simple decor. Good quality tea and coffee, nice treat! Hot water a plenty for kids baths. It was a sunday night, pub last orders were at 10 so we didnt have loud noise below us and slept very well.

The room was large, as was the bathroom and the shower was huge. The bed very comfy...extra pillows available, plenty of storage.Spotlessly clean, beautiful bedding and huge thick white towels. I had an amazing sleep.Staff were very friendly and helpful.Location was perfect for us for the function we were attending.

Location very central. Warm room, comfy bed, bath.
Price, for size of room, breakfast quiet expensive. Not much natural light.
Friendly and helpful staff. Central location with free reserved parking. Comfortable bed. Excellent shower. Good breakfast, if a little expensive.
The toilet seat was broken, as was the light over the bathroom mirror. We reported the former but nothing could be done until after the weekend, which was the end of our stay in any case.
Parking and good breakfast
Outside room - more noisy
The Rooms were lovely. We were in Madame in the outer building and It was decorated superbly. Lovely and warm with lots of tea / coffee essentials. We visited from our if town and needed something right in the centre. We couldn’t have chosen anything better. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The food was a delight also. An added bonus that they had 40% off on food during our stay. We had breakfast and dinner and were impressed by both. I would highly recommend staying here and would definitely book again when back in the area
I don’t actually have anything to comment on. For my self and my husband, our stay was prefect.
Centre of Newbury (masses of restaurants and pubs on your doorstep) with free parking. Large newly decorated rooms, with enormous bed (Babar, Rataxes)
Both rooms (Babar, Rataxes) overlook Market Place, so some street noise (we could cope with it ok) from late-night revellers, and cars/lorries in early morning rush hour.
Parking room staff and location
Liked the decor and ambience. most staff helpful. Food very good. Room comfy and warm but people banging doors a lot in evening. This did settle down though. Reasonable price for brek compared to other places.
No-one on front desk to check in. No decaf tea in room.
The 2 on shift (Leo and his manager whose name I've forgotten, but I remember he said he no longer lived in the area, but drove in to cover a shift that night) were both incredibly kind and helpful. Absolutely lively, the pair of them.
One of the radiators was broken. Not a massive issue, but worth noting so they might be able to address it. We were in the Babar room... radiator by the desk worked, one closest to the bed did not.
Clean
Outside Door wide open on one of the coldest days of the year. An outhouse in the middle of a car park! Bed like anarshmallo. -3 in the room.
Location in town and proximity to the restaurant
Looked tired in the accommodation. Felt there could have had additional lock like a chain on the door for security as the door was literally onto the street. It did have a side gate but this wasn't locked so anyone could walk through.
Good food, comfy bed and a good shower
Curtains don't black out fullyCan recommend an extra blanket for someone not from the area
Located in the center of Newbury.
We were in a converted barn which was adjacent to the pub situated in a car park so very noisy. The rooms were very cold as the heating had not been prepared for our arrival. Many light bulbs missing so the rooms were very dark. No welcome staff on arrival and to find staff in the busy pub.
Avoid!
The location in very central, the rooms smelt, were showing age and did not represent the photos. Complained about the smell and was told "oh its always like that" My colleague had the same experience with a room that was a converted outbuilding in the car park. The Check in was very poor had to find a member of bar staff who told me to wait by the desk at the back of the pub... no one there... went to speak to the bar staff and with a huff walked off to find some one. The staff member was almost surly, did not want to be there... The only positive was a nice English breakfast however the coffee was mud! undrinkable. on check out I was not even asked, was i happy with my stay? This is one to avoid should have stayed at the travel lodge for half the price. Be warned!
The location is very central and accessible. Parking available for guests
The bedroom had a horrible smell. I mentioned this to the manager as soon as I checked in, and he said that it is a normally damp smell because it’s an old building. The hallway was fine, but as soon as you went into the bedroom, I was overpowered by a horrible stench. The manager advised that if I open the window it would go - I had it open all night and it was still there in the morning! That, combined with the loud music until 11.20pm made it hard to sleep. The facilities are very basic too.
Central location
I was a single woman in an annexe room furthest from the main property with no exterior lighting (that I did ask to be rectified)I felt vulnerable and was unable to sleep being aware of every noise. The road became noisy at approx 3am and got louder as the morning progressed. The opening hours on the website stated from 7am. However I, and a fellow early riser on a tight timescale had to wait to checkout.
