Pros +
- Location: if you are looking to stay in Pangbourne then this is a great location. The staff could have been friendlier The atmosphere is relaxed but sophisticated Nice bar and ales (restaurant was fully booked for high probably bodes well)
- It had a bar
- Good location and lovely room with tea coffee facilities and spacious room
Cons -
- Maintenance is over due. I move rooms due to the radiator not working. The room I was moved into was very small and had a light flickering in the bathroom. Surely these are basic checks by staff.
- The room had was awful it was designed for a disabled person with bars all over the place, extract can was loud, bathroom suite looks like it had been smashed up and then repaired, so many things terrible room
- No faults

Good location and lovely room with tea coffee facilities and spacious room
No faults
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent - especially the steaksRoom was cleanNice tray of tea/coffee/biscuits which makes a changeGood range of bathroom compliments
Unfortuately the bed was very soft and any slight movement it made a noise. The radio from the kitchen could be heard
Comfort was good
Late check in was not good, unattended reception, key not left out as arranged
Breakfast was excellent and the staff helpful and polite
Stayed in a twin room 24. Great furniture and nicely laid out. Paintwork a bit tired and needed a refreshWould have benefited from a couple of easy arm chairs to sit in as there was enough space. The bathroom was disappointing. Needed refurbishing
The hotel does what it says on the tin, its functional convenient and consistent, I have stayed here many times, would recommend it and would stay again. Its not super luxurious but comfortable and welcoming, always has crisp white bedding, and is always clean, the water always hot and a good shower.
The floors creak a little but it is an old building, my room was over public areas so I wasn't going to wake anyone when walking around the room which may be a concern if a bedroom were below.
Room was fine
Bathroom plug didn’t work and didn’t realise had to pay for parking as tiny car park
Quirky decor, nice room, super comfortable bed.
Comfortable bedWell equipped room Good breakfast
The hotel accommodation was fine and the breakfast was fine. The overall stay was fine. I would not say the hotel was dirty, but it did not feel clean. There was just something about it that felt a little tired and in need of freshening up.
Some of the repairs looked as though they had been done to the greatest cost efficiency rather than with care. It just felt a little tired and in need of some attention.
Staff were pleasant and helpful at all timesGood location and close to the station.
On arrival the hotel only had 1 of my room bookings on their system. Fortunately I had email confirmation that I had booked 2 rooms and they were able to find a 2nd room. The mirror in the bathroom had been hung by a very tall person - impossible for anyone of 'normal' height to see into it!Service at breakfast was EXTREMELY slow. Part of order was 'forgotten' and food that arrived later was no longer hot! - seemed very short of staff, who were apologetic
Comfy bed
Tiles missing in the bathroom, room 21. Plumbing noises were hopelessly loud during the night, whistling and banging. Breakfast was alright but the fruit salad was something the hotel should be ashamed of. Dried up bananas, old pears. Really?
Loved the shabby chic decor and the way the elephant decor was carried all the way through from public parts to the bedrooms. Nice breakfast
The location is great and the town itself is cute! The rooms are a bit old and I think slightly overpriced however it is clean, safe and nice.
after we had a problem the duty manager acted very promptly in moving us
plumbing , im afraid it let us down , no ones fault though
Breakfast was not included.
There was no parking available when I arrived at earliest check in time of 3. I was sent to adjacent car park, where I had to pay, even though I have a blue badge. No lift to 1st floor bedroom. No help offered with bags.
Location in the heart of the village with a few free parking spaces
Room was tiny! Bed was tiny (booked a classic double). Not enough power sockets so had to unplug the kettle behind a chest of drawers to dry hair or charge laptop. Church bells nextdoor rang every hour even through the night. Very uncomfortable stay. Another guest somehow unlocked the door in the morning confusing our room (6) for hers. Thank god for the deadlock. Our door was locked from the inside but still. Major security issue. No one asked if our stay was as going well.
Location. Bar. Staff. Funky Bedroom. Excellent bathroom.
We checked in late as at festival and they rang to confirm and left the key out for us with a welcoming note at the desk
Lack of parking as I have a blue badge but couldn’t park in the bay as would have blocked the entrance but can park in carpark next door for a small fee :)
