Breakfast
The property is in a good location Large car park and a fair charge for an overnight stay The bar area and outside area looked great Expectations were highWe understood that this is an older property which would not concern us at all otherwise
On arrival the receptionist was very friendly That’s where it endedThere was a couple being moved due to bad room conditions. The room itself! We understand that something can be of a certain age and as long as it’s is maintained properly that is fine. It is not! Peeling wall paper Degrading carpet Absolutely laughable decor throughout Windows? I have no words! Bathroom stank of urine and this was the best part of the room Itself Television did not work properly. We had to fiddle with the lead but gave up! It is not 1990 The floor made so much noise we pitied the guests beneath We stayed due to meeting family we have not seen for years We could not go elsewhere unfortunately This was not a cheap room! We paid over 80 pounds The bed, Pillows and bedding were torn limp and thin It was like a hostel room from 1970It is a rarity I complain We couldn’t not wait to leave. Choosing not to sit for the breakfast! This room should NOT be for sale at any price
Room was tired cold and damp
It was located near the family we had gone to see
Heating wasn’t very good. Warm at times never hot. Late on our second night staying the plug sockets didn’t work.
Location
Grubby, noisy, my shower did not work and gave hot water for 30seconds before going cold.
Central to town centre, reasonable parking charge £5 for 24 hrs
Could not think of anything on either of the two occasions friends and myself have stayed. Will define stay again soon
Food was good and the prices were good. Great location for getting out and about.
One 1 towel, only 1 cup, tv, and kettle did not work. Bed was right on the wall, meaning only one person could comfortably get put of bed. The room was also immediately under the restaurant, therefore noisy. Room 61 not great for a couple. Previous stays in other rooms have been fantastic.
The Ivy Bush Royal Hotel is a lovely hotel, safe were so helpful and nothing too much trouble for them. We stayed in room 95 which looked out over the car park, which was no problem. The room was comfortable and spacious and had a good night's sleep. We had breakfast and must say was very tasty and once again the staff were great.
Location and staff cleanliness
Small stuffy room. Bedding very thin and pillows very flat. Mattress needs updating
Friendly staff good location food lovely
It was clean but it smelt musty and damp out radiator didn't work told receptionist she was lovely and tuck heater up for us but didn't plug it in so when we got back to room witch was very late it was cold. The bed felt damp.
Very relaxed, nice bar area, and out door area.
Bedrooms could be updated
Very comfortable bed. Very effective blackout curtains. 11am checkout beyond what is normal.
Staff stated surge of dinners resulted in at least 1 hour delay in food orders therefore no dinner ordered even though early in service. Circumstances dictated I just needed to eat and then sleep so very disappointing. Not the hotels fault really though!
Staff were outstanding. Loved the atmosphere in the pub.. Lucy was an absolute star. The receptionist on arrival was brilliant. Didn't get her name, but she went out of her way to assist the guests.
Watery bacon.at breakfast.
Disappointing
Room was outdated in deco . Bins not emptied from previous occupants as bin full of old chinese takeaway. Doubt's whether room has been cleaned as the bin in the bathroom was also full. TV not working asked for this to be seen to several times at reception and was not done. Bed really uncomfortable
Great people very cosy bed was very comfortable
We asked for a double bed but got 2 singles - I will admit I did not ask the staff to change it as I didn’t want to be a pain :)
Room was large. Quiet spot overlooking garden. Easy check in, check out
Bar closed early evening for residents. Rooms old fashioned.
Very helpful staff. Menu simple and very acceptable. Location excellent.
Bit of a maze to get to the room. The Ivy Bush has a really excellent reputation so a little bit disappointed to have just a run of the mill room .
