About
The Hotel has been created within an elegant Regency building, which was once owned and loved by the Duke of Wellington. Many of the original features have been maintained with high Georgian ceilings, ornate coving, and big sash windows. The original entrance remains consisting of several steep steps up into the hotel. The Clarence Court Hotel is just over half a mile from Cheltenham Racecourse and Centaur Conference Center. The hotel is a grade 2 listed building, and this does not allow for a elevator, but we are happy to assist with your luggage. We do not have disabled facilities due to the nature and classification of the building however please inform us if you have limited mobility and you will be allocated a ground floor room. The hotel is privately owned and run by professional hoteliers with the emphasis placed on a warm welcome, friendly service, homemade food, comfortable beds and a fantastic freshly cooked traditional English breakfast. Our newly refreshed Restaurant and Bar, located on the lower ground floor is the perfect place to unwind, whether it’s for a coffee or a cocktail, or dinner. We can accommodate private parties for birthdays and special events. All Guests (over 16 yrs.) have complimentary access to Everlast Gym located within the Brewery just a few minutes’ walk away from the hotel.

The presentation and position of the hotel was lovely and very convenient for the town centre of Cheltenham. The staff were really helpful regarding parking and at breakfast. The room was comfortable, clean and well presented. However, we booked the hotel hoping to have a swim and to our surprise there was no pool at the hotel. On bookings.com it says the hotel has a pool but, this is not actually the case. When I asked about the pool, I was told it was a 3 minute walk away and didn't I read the email I was sent 'after' I made my booking. I clearly didn't as I wouldn't have been asking! Now that I have read more reviews, it seems that other people hadn't read the email either. The lack of a pool was a shame as, other than that, the stay was excellent. I feel sorry for the staff. They must have to keep defending the decision to list a pool. It must be very frustrating for them.

Central heating poor cold rooms
Skeleton staff
The hotel is in an ideal location with a nice bar setting.
The room was very small, it was fine for 1 person, but if you were to have 2 people in their with luggage it would be a bit pokey.
It’s a lovely building with character in a quiet part of town. The breakfast was good and came quickly. I slept well as it was quiet. The room was well equipped and had everything I needed with iron, lots of towels and a really good hair dryer. I liked the decor too in my room and the reception and breakfast area.
There wasn’t anyone on reception when I was there and no one came when you rang the bell. There didn’t seem many staff about and when you did see them they weere pretty quiet/lacking in customer service skills. I stayed for 3 nights and didn’t really feel anyone at the hotel noticed even though the website talks about how welcoming it is. I think communal areas carpets and rugs need a good clean. At breakfast they had a radio on really loud in another room and nothing for the people sat eating. It didn’t really feel like it was for the guests which sort of sums up the general feel of the place. You’re a bit invisible to them.
Excellent location, great room, our 2nd visit.Great breakfast, very helpful and friendly staff. We will be back !!
This is a beautiful period style hotel, we only stayed one night but were very lucky to be upgraded to an executive room which was amazing. The staff were very attentive and accommodating and we enjoyed a great breakfast the next morning, we would definitely recommend this hotel for any future visits.
Paying for parking on what appeared to be their own land.Teacups at breakfast table were too big for the size of teapots, would recommend smaller cups or larger teapots! Products in bathroom were very nice however lots of small plastic bottles, which aren’t very environmentally friendly.
Very nice building and a lovely park Cheltenham well kept very comfortable bed enjoyed our day
Everything was fine we both enjoyed it
Good location, easy parking. Nice food in the restaurant and comfortable room.
Quite outdated room and bathroom felt as though it was just built inside the room, was quite odd. One of the towels was still damp and I didn’t feel like it was worth £158 a night (with breakfast).
Location was great, room was big, breakfast was lovely.
Water in bath and shower didn't get hot enough.
Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, large rooms. Close to shops, bars, restaurants and park.
Communication before hand could have been little better
Clean, great location and the staff were great.
Lovely spacious room stayed in the suite. Perfect location 5 min walk into town and small hotel car park was great. There is an ncp right around the corner too. Breakfast and service was fabulous
Quiet & beautiful location with private parking. Convenient to have a good restaurant at the hotel. The evening meal was excellent. The Bedroom was warm & well decorated & appointed. Within walking distance of the lower end of the Promenade and shopping
There wasn’t a ‘period’ sitting room for guests to enjoy, which was a great disappointment to us and the only area for relaxation was a small room jokingly called a library in the basement opposite the entrance to a noisy bar and also the dining room, which thankfully was nicely designed. Pity about all the laminate flooring in a listed building which is a shame.
Bad
There was no heating on a very cold nightSub zeroWe told the staff in the pmThey got one rad working a bit and said it would be on all nightIt went off at 9pmHardly slept I was so coldThere didn’t appear to be anyone in the office to talk to about this when we got back at 8ishThe full English breakfast was poor1 small sausageSmall amounts of everythingSeemed like penny pinching The room was expensiveContacted owners after we left about this and got no replySmell of cigarette smoke from restaurant belowI’ve been in a few unjustifiably expensive hotels in my timeThis was the worst
