    Pros +

    • -
    • Love the location. The staff when available were kind and helpful.
    • We had the king size room with a tub and we loved it. The bathroom was big and warm. We loved having a kettle and tea things as well as a fridge. The breakfast was amazing and there was plenty of room.

    Cons -

    • Was given a dirty room that hadn’t been made up.Changed rooms and this one didnt have any shower gel (the bottle was completely empty).Only one staff member was around for check-in but was not there permanently so had to wait. Was quite noisy in the early morning (possibly due to building works)
    • No staff! Arrived have to wait after a long journey for someone to actually be on reception. Room is up in the gods, top of the building, no lift is working. Room was tired with water damage on the ceiling. Some of the lights didn't always work all the time. Filled a bath but the water wasn't very hot. The girl/staff on the first morning at breakfast was brusc, unhelpful and looked v stressed. She needed more help. The tables were covered with old dirty dishes and the floor had food trodden into that looked like it had been there for a few days. This was supposed to be a treat getaway. I've had a lot of stress lately. We've stayed at your brand of hotel in Cambridge which was lovely so we thought to try you again. It wasn't much of a treat.
    • The lift wasn't working and there was many sets of stairs so beware if you have mobility issues or have heavy bags.

    The location was perfect

Waiting to check in due to one member of staff only on reception. Having to find someone on several occasions to serve us at the bar. The rooms were very dimly lit and the side lights were flickering, staff said it was a wall switch issue. I also don't usually stay were dogs are allowed. Dogs and nice hotels is a big no for me

Stylish room. Lovely building. Nice staff.

    Location, room

Lady on reception was so miserable when we arrived. Ruined the entire stay

Great hotel, stylish, clean & great location. Staff were lovely & extremely helpful. We had our little pup with us & they were super accommodating & even set up a little table for us just to the side of the bar area so we could dine in for dinner & breakfast & have our pup sit with us.

    Not much at all

Receptionist was unfriendly and unwilling to give me a good price for a second night. She advised me to “look on booking.com” and then she would match the price! Also the room could not have been further from the reception area - with no elevator. As a result I found somewhere else for the second night, and I cancelled all future bookings at this hotel.

Wonderful breakfasts both days in a beautiful spacious downstairs area. But these were extra and very expensive. Staff were always friendly and very helpful. Lift not working. Lovely spacious shower, but for safety a grab rail woud be a useful improvement. Draft through one window. No toilet brush. But lovely soaps, hand creams, etc. Luxurious and spacious bed with excellent TV and reasonable lighting. Towel rail didn't get hot, but powerful radiator in bathroom did. Excellent meal in th Bistro in the evening, but it was seriously expensive, Great location for walking into town and to catching busses, etc. We had a particularly good trip to Nature in Art to see the Michael Fairbairn memorial exhibition of glass engraving, Crystal Clear.

Some costs were ecessive but races that weekend limited choices and inflated prices. Awful for staff, as we saw them carrying very heavy suitcases upstairs because lift not work. A prestigious and expensive hotel should maintain its lift!

We were greated by friendly, helpful staff. The bedroom was beautifully decorated and our sizeable bathroom had a roll top bath. We had the dinner, bed and breakfast offer, which was good value.

An excellent location close , easy walking distance to the centre. Boutique style of the hotel. We enjoyed the restaurant.

Room missing enough towels but quickly sorted also parking tricky for a large car due to space restraints.

Good sized standard room on the second floor in an old historic building. Great location with parking (for an additional fee). Really nice staff. Was a close call between this and the Malmaison just up the road! If you are staying we also recommend the Gustav Holst museum (about a 30 min walk away).

Both the evening meal and the breakfast were excellent. The room was ok, bed very comfortable and toiletries were lovely.I would say that the hotel pays a lot of attention to detail and I cannot fault it, it was a fantastic stay.

Although the rain shower was very good, I would have preferred it it was in an enclosed cubicle as opposed to a bath with a shower curtain, as it was difficult to stop the water from soaking the floor.

    Breakfast was very nice

Check in was very slow even though I have supposedly Checked in on line.Lots of stairs, both up and down to get to our room, which had not been in the hotel information Dinner in the bistro had a very limited menu and one of the beef dishes had a very high fat content. Whilst they offered to replace it, that was going to take a long time and disrupt our time. It's a shame about these issues as the hotel seemed to have a lot of character

Lovely hotel good ambience comfortable bed

Being cgarged 10 pounds for parking

    Excellent location,easy parking,nice decor

The property needs secondry double glazing throughout, the rooms are cold and when it is very cold outside they never get warm enough even with the extra radiators supplied. The lift is STILL unserviceable! It was unserviceable two months ago! This is not acceptable.

    8LPosted on: 1-5-2026

    Great bathroom and Loccitane products

Sounds minor but no decaf tea in the room. Also noisy heating on all night on account of the cold weather.

    10TraceyPosted on: 1-4-2026

The room was exceptional and very comfortable. Loved the shower and we were able to upgrade to a Deluxe room with a Bath. Th Reception staff were also very friendly and helpful.

No dislikes. Just wish we could stay longer.

    9SarahPosted on: 1-4-2026

Beautifully presented rooms and common areas. Loved the double bath in our room. The hotel is well situated to explore Cheltenham centre. The staff were extremely friendly and professional.

Although very clean. The bathroom could do with a deep clean around the fixtures and fittings as well as the grout. Our room wasn’t particularly sound proof and could hear everything in the corridor.
