    Pros +

    • Was ok
    • The room was beautiful, view wasnt great but I wasnt there for that. Bed was very comfortable and tea and coffee facilities were great. Staff were also pleasant on arrival and departure
    • Room was freezing as the heating had broken we was not informed about the situation when checking in they supplied at first a six fin oil heater went to say about heating and then they supplied another smaller oil heater so we was cold all night,

    Cons -

    • The room was nice but the staff was quite rude and didn’t make u feel welcome
    • The seal in the shower was mouldy and needed changing, personally that can make a bathroom feel unclean. The bathroom door didnt have a working handle or lock, so you couldn't shut the door. It wouldnt push to either as the weight meant it kept going to fully open. Which is an issue when using the bathroom facilities.Lighting was minimal in main room which was an issue when getting ready to go out. These were minor issues that I got around though

    Very good

Didn’t have no where to hang out clothes the room was tiny the lighting was terrible unable to sit down and dry my hair . The plug in the sink wouldn’t come out .did try to upgrade as we have stayed before but obviously the hotel was full

Breakfast was lovely, mushroom were to salty tho... Nice location

The lifts were old and scary, and the shower isn't the best . There was a bad smell in the hallway... AC was super loud

    4NicolaPosted on: 2-15-2026

Staff were polite and food was good

Heating unit on all night outside a window that you couldn’t shut - very noisy, they did offer me a room change but this was 11.45 at night so not acceptable

    It's a hotel in a great location.

We had no cleaning service for our stay, as housekeeper didn't come round until after 4pm each day, when we'd arrived back from a day out! It seems the hotel is "housing" people there that are foreign and one knocked on our door so a safety issue.

The room was clean and sufficient in size. The restaurant has a lovely view.

The fire alarm went off twice during a 3 night stay in the middle of the night (due to steam from bathroom showers as of guests leaving their bathroom doors open apparently?) and maintenance works were being done directly outside my bedroom door which wasn’t disclosed prior to booking. When raised with the hotel staff and requesting a partial refund they just deflected it wasn’t their fault instead of taking accountability for the guests experience. I suggested that as the alarm was going off for something they were aware of they should perhaps think of preventative measures to avoid this issue, such as posters in the bathroom to remind guests to keep their bathroom doors closed whilst showering. The complaint handling was poor to say the least.

The bed was extremely comfortable. The views across the river, from my room, were very pleasant.

My room could've done with a little tlc, decor a little tired - especially the bathroom (tiles needed regrouting).

Location and comfortable bed. Tea making facilities and storage is easy and available. Great views from the restaurant.

Floors and Carpets look dirty, I wore my socks the whole time including in the shower. Lots of hair in the bathroom (not mine)

    3RussellPosted on: 2-8-2026

Well placed and convenient for city centre

The confusing lay out breakfast on first floor but only one lift stopped there. No signage on stairs to first floor. Room looking tired and cold. Holes in the walls where doors handles had punched through. Lack of obvious signage to the car park from the reception. Staff not answer the remote door opening from car park to the hotel. Heating was a AC unit that couldn’t be adjusted on the controller. Shower got hot and cold without any further input. Two different night the fire alarm went off. No obvious signage to the restaurant.

Clean comfortable let me check in early when my meeting was cancelled.

Didn't tell me I was being charged for the early check in! My request for an accessible room seem to have been lost in translation. I was placed next to a lift which was not necessary on the ground floor but a long way from reception and other facilities. The place is a little bleak and understaffed.

Location and we were allowed to change rooms because our mattress was too soft.

    Location

Room was advertised to have a vanity which it didn’t, very cold, bad smell and I got unwell from my visit as the room I think wasn’t cleaned well

    LocationSpace in room

Breakfast was very limited and we had to ask for baconNo servicing of room and there were no door hangers in roomNo ventilator in bathroom no wonder somebody set off the fire alarms with steam at 0500 rear entrance out of order so had to tail around to front door and the weird stepsRooms as always dark

    8KeithPosted on: 2-2-2026

Room pleasant spacious; bed very comfortable. Staff also very helpful.

Short on drawer space for clothes. Poor location of kettle and sundries beneath clothes hanging space. Moved it to dressing table which then compromised dressing table space.

    8GlennPosted on: 2-2-2026

Location, location, location. Well placed by bridge in centre by bridge. Staff wonderful, reasonable standard of decor and very good value in cost.

Front door steps need an extra step to make safe, is it legal? Also main gripe is this - Lack of menu of beer choice and food menu items for gluten free customers. Very very poor choice of two items, glazed chicken and chicken curry on the entire list. So I Did not bother with breakfast, as I usually take mine or have to find a GF friendly cafe in town. So that was "Abero" just along the river or the local wetherspoons at a pinch. Note: staff could not help on this, so please pass this comment on to Senior managers and directors. That they need to plan, react and provide good value GF food as standard. Doctors now have an easy test, and over 33% of people, that are your potential customers now have some form of this. So the board members are missing a huge new opportunity here to get more GF customers to use their hotels. The staff were excellent, the service and hotel pleasant. It was warm, clean and very comfortable. So why no GF food on the menu and no GF beer except one lager, and no fish, chilli con carne or more normal menu choices? Nice stay, will be back in the summer.
