Pros +
- Great location and excellent atmosphere
- Room was excellent
- Staff were wonderful. Food was good, with breakfast and Sunday roast being especially good values. Though a little dated, the room was spacious and comfortable and clean. I have no complaints about furniture looking a bit worn, etc. as Ive seen others point out. It felt authentic and comfortable to me. Lovely view of the river from my room, which was enchanting. It is also a pub and Friday and Saturday evenings there was a rumble of voices and laughter from below the window, drifting up from the outdoor seating, but it honestly didn't bother me at all. It was almost a comfort to hear the happy people chattering away. The location was good, and it was easy to walk into the center of town.
Cons -
- Staff was a little bit slow to come to checking in desk and the room had quite a few cobwebs with alot of dust
- Bar restaurant not so good, very long wait for lunch on the Saturday, bar closed earlier than advertised on the Sunday, breakfast not great bacon was poor
- I was very happy with the room, so I don't like to mention this: although it was clean overall, they need to take the extra step of clearing cobwebs from around window sills and the ceiling (admittedly ceilings were quite high,) but there were a couple large cobwebs hanging over the bed. I managed with difficulty to get them cleared out myself. There was a beautiful copper/stainless steel tub in the bathroom, but I didn't use it because it had visible rust in the bottom.

What you see in the pictures is exactly what it looks like in person. I liked everything from the staff to the food to the rooms.
Would be nice if they had a lift. But the young man was kind enough to help us upstairs with our luggage
Great mix of pub/hotel with a happy and helpful staff! Across the street from the river with its constant exchange of little boats, rowing crew, and of course swans.
Happy to say nothing to be unhappy with.
Location, view and cleanliness
Its position
Difficulties finding a parking space.Breakfast not included or not obvious at time of booking., and was very expensive to purchase on the morning.
The location was awesome. Along side the river, it was beautiful. The staff that I came into were brilliant, really friendly and helpful.
Staff very friendly particularly Katie.
No lift. My wife has dementia and restricted mobility.lack of drawers in bedroom.
Great hospitality, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, hot chocolate. Great variety of teas, sparkling clean place, good room temperature and exceptional customer service. The food at the restaurant was great. Steak pie and veg lasagne we tried. Definitely going back.
We were in a comfortable and spacious room and the room was ready to enter before the scheduled check-in time, which was nice. It was only one night, ahead of a flight from Luton but it was a good choice. The riverside location is pleasant and, whilst we did not eat there other than breakfast it was clearly very popular locally for lunch and dinner. The breakfast itself was excellent, with notably good quality ingredients. We would very happily stay again if in the area.
Room was exceptional. Comfy bed and pillows, clean, tidy and friendly staff. Ideal location for business trip. Beautiful scenery outside with river front across the road. Food was delicious in pub downstairs
Breakfast was great as were the staff. Location right opposite the river with great views and walks. Not too far from the Bedford town centre shopping. The actual facilities in the room were very good, TV, iron, tea making equipment et.
A lift would have been good. At 82 I struggled going up two flights of stairs, the lack of a lift was not mentioned when booking the hotel. I just expected a little more for the £130 + a night.
Lovely comfortable room and decent size bed. Plenty of coffee and tea and biscuits. I had a lovely breakfast. Staff very friendly.
I was at the back of the hotel and it was a little noisy with cars coming and going.
Staff were exceptionally helpful. Rooms were clean and nice touches with bottled water etc.Shower was a little less powerful than would have liked but a very minor niggle.
Breakfast very good and staff friendly. Great location
The double bed felt quite small - a king wouId be better. The room got really hot during the night.
Staff, food, selection of beer.
Car parking!
Great location, close to the town centre. Gorgeous view of the river. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The only criticism I would have is the food was not that good.
Location, good tea and coffee selection, options for breakfast. Nice pillows /bed etc
Little soundproofing from other rooms. I could hear talking in other adjacent rooms, people moving along the corridor and doors slamming throughout the night (the automatic doors closers go slowly, then slam). Also, footsteps from the floor above. A shame as the rest of the hotel is great.
Food was good staff really lovely great location
Had the best room we had for 2 nights the other 2 were located at the back of the hotel so would ask for this next time It’s a pub at the end of the day so obviously was noisy so I did not complain they need delivery s
