    • Room is gorgeousStaff very welcoming and attentiveBeautiful building in a lovely location Great spa facilities

    Cons -

    • Outdoor hot tub was cold but otherwise spa was exceptional - loads to go at - good value
    • Unfortunately they are renovating next to the property so it was difficult to get a good choice of restaurants and no cream teas was a huge disappointment
    • I was not told by booking.com whilst booking this stay that the property was undergoing a renovation ir would not have booked itNor was I told in my welcome callThe orangerie wasn't there , one restaurant choice which we opted not to go for as Tierra was closed. Breakfast in a makeshift room you'd expect a ball to be held in due to renovation same with bar they usee to have a nice cocktail lounge just no atmosphere or what I expected for over £400 a night.I appreciate the work needs doing and they need to keep the hotel open to do that , but it should be very clear when booking it and they shouldn't be charging full rate when the facilities are not what people are used toThis info is apparently on their web page but as I have stayed many times I would't have been checking that out .My view was over renovation workSpa Shower both days had pile of hair on floor disgusting.Did complain and although they did apologise but basically got told to let them know next time I am coming back and they would see what they could do.

The breakfast was excellent, the staff were very attentive, couldn’t fault anything .we would definitely look forward to staying again

The leisure facilities were excellent. My husband who has been very poorly found the large pool to cold, so he couldn’t swim, which was one of things he was looking forward to .

The room and food was beautiful, 5 star

For the money spent I would of hoped for more than 4 different jacuzzis,

Spa is fantastic, particularly the ice room . Fabulous facility. Rooms are beautiful. Room service such as turn down service luxurious. Wonderful staff, not snobbish, very professional. Make you feel spoiled. The staff really seemed happy to be working there.

Only gripe, and its a tiny one, is that the door handle doesn't depress. You just push it, of which I hadn't been aware so had to call for help.

We loved the spa and our room overlooking the golf course. Staff we very helpful and friendly. Particularly Mungo at breakfast.

Breakfast was good. We also got an early check in which was really helpful.

    Bars closed up before midnight.

    7GillianPosted on: 8-25-2025

Very large rooms with good quality toiletries and coffee. Staff all very friendly and welcoming. Good smoothies in the juice bar. Spa is good with plenty of loungers and seats with a large pool. Lovely grounds and spotlessly clean.

For over £400 a night you expect near perfection but there were too many things that just missed the mark. We had to chase for our luggage to be brought to the room. The coffee machine flex was too short to plug it in next to the cups etc and so had to be moved across the room. The lights constantly flickered on and off in our room. The room was boiling hot but if we put the aircon on it blasted cold air down on us as the vents were directly above the bed head. The bar is extremely expensive -£9 a pint and £17 for a pot of tea and a cup of coffee. It’s pretty soulless and lacks atmosphere. I was given an enormous pot of tea -it would have served 4 but only had one tea bag so it was very weak. Breakfast was nice but again lacked something. There was limited choices of bread, only one type of cheese and a tiny bowl of berries. No alternative milks and only a choice of marmalade or strawberry jam. For £35 per person you expect an extensive selection of high quality items. The staff were great but overly formal-which makes it difficult to relax when everyone is standing on ceremony. Finally when we left there was over £50 of food that had been charged to our room that we didn’t have. We enjoyed our break but expected more for the money.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. We were stunned with how immaculate the building is.

The only thing we didn’t like about our stay was when we were in the spa no one collects you for your treatment. We were told to return to reception 10 minutes before to fill our consultations in but we felt like we were clocked watching in the spa. Just a personal opinion. Absolutely amazing otherwise.

Stunning property with lovely period features , we really enjoyed all the rooms to relax in and the restaurants and bar. We had a complimentary upgrade and the room was stunning. The staff at the tasting restaurant were fantastic

The spa needs improvement to align with the style and quality of the property.

    The spa! Always amazing!

The ‘Brasserie’ is now in the golf clubhouse - and it lacks any depth of personality. It’s really quite un-ambiente and bland. We were very disappointed they had moved the informal restaurant to the clubhouse. The food was tepid. It was not somewhere we felt relaxed.

Clean and spacious with such care taken on seasonal decorations. Truly wonderful dining areas and lots of space to relax.

Pool showers (female) were tepid .
