Pros +
- Spacious, clean and warm. In our king room, the sink plug lever jammed leaving water in the sink. The helpful lady on reception offered to move us next door immediately and without fuss. Great service. Good it has a tie in to the Bishop Auckland regeneration project. It is an excellent initiative.
- Location, cleanliness, decor, lots of parking spaces, staff
- The location and the spacious bedroom
Cons -
- There could be a little more light. The room was large so needed a stronger central light and downward- facing reading lights.
- Shower in room 7 was poor and temp was cool
- The double bed was uncomfortable: the mattress felt very bumpy. The sofa bed was literally made by stacking the sofa pillows together and covering it with bedsheet. That being said my 10yo son said it was confortable. We staid over on Valentine’s Day night : I let your imagine why it is not a good day to stay over in a hotel…let’s put it that way : the wall were thin. Lucky (for us…) it did not last long

Clean. Staff were very friendly. Bar service was good and food was excellent.
I'd booked through Booking.com after selecting 'travelling with pets' and room was booked without pets added. I had to pay additional cleaning fee.
The Restaurant was very nice and the staff were lovely, room was clean nice hot shower and comfortable bed
We couldn't connect to the wifi in our room and there wasn't a smart TV either
Been able to bring my dog with me, we were both so comfortable. Staff were so friendly
Comfort of room
It's not that I didn't like it but a few tips. Im a disabled lady in a wheelchair. I had an adapted room which was lovely well thought out apart from1. Room was carpeted. Very difficult to self propel on carpet so laminate or wood floor is much easier.2. Small hand basin in bathroom. Niether use nor ornamental. At the perfect height for wheelchair user but because basin is so small by the time you turn tap to hot its running at full power and you get soaked, everytime. Also partner not disabled but found the same. He got soaked and basin far to small to get washed at or even shave.I hope you don't see this as a complaint as its not, just ideas from a wheelchair user that would make the room work better
It was nice and clean everywhere. I got the single room. It was probably smaller than the other rooms. but it was good for me working. comfy and I slept all night and felt good sitting in the bar relaxing. All the staff was really nice and friendly. The food took 50 minutes. and I was really hungry. But when the food came. it looked beautiful well presented and tasted amazing. Was a little pricey for the amount you got. But you're paying for quality I guess.
I went to order around 8:15pm. but more than half the things they didn't have on the menu. They had sold out. because they had a lot of people in before me. I know this can't be helped. But I'm really glad I picked the duck it was amazing..
Friendly staff nice facility a little expensive I think
Price without breakfast was a little high and £25 for breakfast is difficult to understand . It’s higher than any hotel I’ve stayed in the last year and many of them were in the London area
Great location. Lovely staff. Comfortable room and good facilities. Very clean. I will be staying again.
I would have booked a double room, but that was my choice.
Callum on arrival, amazing, warm and attentive guy who advised what was available during our stay (or not as the case may be)
Lucy, rude and obnoxious. The bed, was so uncomfortable. The lack of drinks available. The free breakfast that was inedibleThe beds not madeThe dirty glasses not removed daily, we had to do it ourselvesThe filthy bathroomWhat looked like Cocaine all over the desks, rolled up pieces of paper in the drawers
Had a fabulous stay! Clean rooms, comfy bed and excellent breakfast (Gluten free options were provided and were tasty , also there is a separate toaster for gluten free bread this is often overlooked so thank you ) Rooms are exactly like the photos and exceeded our expectations. The staff really went above and beyond and were very welcoming. Thank you so much , we look forward to staying with you again :)
There was nothing we didn't like.
A good location for visiting the Auckland Project.Hotel staff were particularly friendly and welcoming. The King Room was spacious and clean. We dined in the restaurant and enjoyed the good quality food which is very reasonably priced. The dessert menu was limited. The breakfast menu was varied and staff were happy to respond to individual requests. The food itself was very good.Easy parking. Overall
It was clean, quiet and comfortable. We stayed here after checking out of another hotel a night early so we could get a peaceful nights sleep.
All good.
I have stayed several times and am always delighted by the high standards. Staff always very nice. Great value for money. And situated in the heart of The Auckland Project which is a wonderful initiative in Durham.
Nothing!
It was nice to have cereal and fruit available in addition to the cooked breakfast. The staff were very friendly.
We had the cooked breakfast. There was plenty of it but the meat was a bit chewy.
The whole hotel was amazing. The room was large, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfy and the shower was fantastic The bus stops were a 2 min walk up the road making it a perfect place to stay to visit the town centre and Christmas Town
The location was perfect. The room very clean and had everything in. Parking was plentiful and well lit.
Tv remote didn't work. The bedside light didn't work. The blind was halfway down and impossible to close to give privacy and blackout from a street lamp directly outside.Reception said they didn't book taxis and pointed me to a list of numbers. Intermittent phone signal even when logged onto wifi. Told to download the Uber App!After that, left to.my own devices!!
Wonderful staff members. So helpful and accommodating. Very clean, great shower!Try the restaurant too. A bangin’ burger!!
The breakfast choices was very good and service was fine.
The evening meal menu was a little restricted but what was available was fine.
