breakfast very good
looked for Gideon Bible, not Good News For Everyone to read in my bedroom drawer but there was none. So no opportunity
Location is in the middle of forrestNice and big toilets
Location has a pig farm in the neighbourhood, smells bad inside (room 2), and smells bad outside .Also the room 2 was not worth the money.Small and ridiculous TV ,place in the corner of the bed,no wardrobe doors. Shame!! We requested to change the room, and the staff managed to give us another room with dirty frame windows, with dirty flies, and we hardest managed to open the window. It was a bad experience.
Loved our brief stay, such a treat to be able to share it with our 2 dogs. The staff we met were smashing; very accommodating (despite our very late arrival), warm and friendly, and love dogs which is a huge bonus!! The hotel is quirky and still has the feel of an old, traditional manor house, serving as a peaceful retreat in a great location. The room was just what we needed; clean and spacious with a super comfortable bed. Breakfast was great value for money with a good choice of cooked items and a range of cereals, yogurts and fruit. We didn't take our dogs to breakfast with us, but this is an option! Overall a great place and we would happily stay again ?
The only issue with our room was a stiff cold tap that was hard to turn, and noisy, whistling bath taps!
Lovely quirky hotel, with friendly staff.Good value for money, although having paid extra for a garden view, to look out on rusty catering vans wasn't great.Would go back, but not pay the additional cost.
Very friendly staff. Clean. Good food.
Public rooms appeared impressive. Breakfast was very good and waitress friendly and helpful. Bedroom was spacious and bed comfortable. Light in bathroom very dim. Unfortunately, in spite of seeking assistance from staff on duty, Wi-Fi wasn’t available in the bedroom. Door to bedroom wouldn’t lock but we have advised the lovely waitress who checked us out that this needs attention.
An old impressive looking building which is showing signs of its age!
I came for Sedgefield races. It was about 20 minutes away from this course; I arrived after Service had finished in the restaurant, but they made me a sandwich anyway, which was very kind not least as the staff had knocked off.
Staff were friendly and would do anything for you.
Place is really out dated and I major need of an makeover. The whole atmosphere in the bar areas is slit your wrist stuff
Breakfast served by the lovely Sharon. Beautiful dining room. Faultless. Staff on Mondsy were really lovely. Friendly, bubbly, attentive. Evening meal in the bistro dining room was delicious. On Monday having friendly & attentive staff who were clearly enjoying their job was refreshing. I rate those staff 10/10.
I felt a little pushed into not having a chef & waitress kept on just for me. I travelled from N.I - arrived at 6pm. No alternative of having some sandwiches or snacks. I did feel obliged to say no & I asked if there was somewhere close by I could go to for food, was told yes. I checked in then went looking for the recommended pub close by, only to be told they weren't serving food, service had finished. I ended up with a soggy coop sandwich after a 9 hour journey. My room - 15 had a dreadful noise coming from inside. Like an extractor fan left on. I had brought ear plugs but could still hear the noise. My room looked delightful - well & tastefully furnished. Bed was not comfortable, I could feel the springs, armchair was very uncomfortable too. I couldn't get the lamps working so had to ring reception.. The light switches by the door had to be switched on. I don't think I got the room I had paid for. I couldn't use the shower over bath, I'm disabled
We had stayed here before. It is a useful stopover en route North. Lovely interesting old building Room clean and comfortable. Good food , very friendly and helpful staff.
Great room, very well appointed. massive bed. very quiet at night. Excellent Parking.Evening meal was beautifully presented. The bar staff have really got it nailed

The food was excellent with abundant choices. A spacious and comfortable room. The staff were delightful, nothing was too much trouble, Happy smiling faces,
There was no lift, but this is only an issue for those with limited mobility.
The staff were really friendly and the food within the restaurant was of a high standard.
Shower water pressure was a bit low
Very friendly staff and a great breakfast. Rooms are very comfortable and the manager was able to facilitate our room request. Overall a very good hotel in a lovely part of the country.
