About
Within 10 minutes’ walk of the city center, this beautifully preserved Georgian building offers free parking and the peaceful atmosphere of a country hotel. Originally built in 1756, the Georgian House Hotel is a Grade II listed historic building combining traditional, old-world charm with modern comforts and facilities. There are 18 rooms with attached bathroom, each of which is individually styled and furnished to reflect the building’s historic character. Some of the bedrooms offer the luxury of a four-poster bed and all rooms have a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel is close to all that Derby has to offer, including many of the area's businesses, the University of Derby and the city’s shops. With open fires, the elegant restaurant offers an à la carte menu and a selection of fine wines. The cozy traditional bar is featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide, and has Sky Sports, real ales, a selection of wines, good food and one of the largest beer gardens in the city.

Mr grundy’s down stairs was good atmosphere, warm and friendly.Food was excellent.
Room was cold and could do with some working bedside lights and sockets.
Close by for a party , staff were friendly
It was really cold in the rooms but expected with it being a Georgian building , shower wouldn't stay hot Would stay again but not in winter , rooms a little run down but again expected
Bed great. Very extravagant. Lovely room despite being run down. Lots of character. Telly, tea and coffee. All good
Tea spoons dirty - had to wash themBedding smelt of aftershave - sheet under duvet instead of bedding changeOne wobbly socket for whole room. Not sure fixed wiring test would pass this! Sarcastic landlady
Very friendly reception on arrival. Staff have a great relaxed and warm style. It is quirky in a good way. Really good beer on tap.
The staff member who greeted me on arrival was exceptionally attentive and helpful. They immediately noticed that I would struggle with the stairs, as there are no lifts, and proactively arranged a room change without any hesitation. Their kindness and quick support made a huge difference to my stay and was truly appreciated.
My experience during this stay was unfortunately very poor. There was no signal in the room, which meant I couldn’t watch TV that evening. I was told the issue was being worked on, but I wasn’t notified of any update until I had to call down myself. On top of that, the plug socket didn’t work, so I woke up to find my phone hadn’t charged overnight. The hot water tap on the sink was broken, and the bedside lampshade was old, damaged, and didn’t fit properly. Overall, the room felt dark, tired, and in need of attention.I understand that things can go wrong from time to time, but the number of issues in one stay was unacceptable. When I spoke with the manager the next morning, she was understanding about how disappointing the experience had been. However, no form of compensation was offered, which I found extremely disappointing given that I did not receive the standard or comfort I paid for. In my view, a full refund should have been offered.
The price. Last minute booking availability. Bed linen was clean.
You get what you pay for.Strong, stale cigarette smoke in the room, floor not been vacuumed. Broken seat back left on the end of the bed with spikes sticking up. Poor shower. Curtains not properly hung so huge gaps with bright lights shining in. Very old, tired and dated.
Comfy roomGood quality bedding and towels Location... for us very near the CrematoriumFriendly helpful staffQuiet room at the back
The staff lady serving breakfast was really nice and professional.
The duvet was dirty. No hot water in the sink, and hot water in the shower lasted for five mins only. The heating in the room was not proper. Tea cups were dirty, and a pack of biscuits were open and half eaten left
Simon on front desk was really welcoming and accommodating especially with our dog. Room was beautiful too and the bed was very comfy. Great location and the pub seemed busy but did not disturb us. Electric charging in the car park is fast.
There was only one towel for our room, there was body hair in the shower, the wifi password didn’t work and the heating was only briefly on so it was very cold! The staff were wonderful when we first arrived so I am sure these would have been rectified were we staying for more than one night.
Really friendly an welcoming the owners. Lovely old place near all amenities
The atmosphere, the room, bed was comfortable
The toilet seat was broken, road noise( maybe secondary glazing), loud dripping noise coming from the chimney.
We have been here many times and it's one we always return to, top class all staff are very helpful and never any bad experience ,good choiceof drinks and food menu and a top class breakfast, we tell others this is the hotel you need to stay
Nothing bad to say about this hotel.
Staff were great. Very friendly. Room fantastic. Clean, easy access to centre. All round bonanza of Derby class.
Had a comfortable stay the room was spacious and had a lovely view of the courtyard
Large comfortable room. Convenient location. Food availability. Interesting historic building.
Poor shower. Decor slightly tired.
Last minute booking as we went to a gig at The Vaillant. The room was lovely albeit a little chilly at night and would have preferred a back room .But all in all quite a magical night (obviously seeing to The Levellers contributed to the magic )I loved the other rooms and the quirky Fawlty Tower reception.would definitely book again.
Met our requirements for that night so nothing really
Lovely Georgian property with lots of character. Location and cleanliness was good for the purposes of my stay. Landlady was extremely welcoming, accommodating and friendly. She even opened the kitchen earlier to make breakfast.
As pleasant as the property is I wouldn’t class this as a Hotel as the room was lacking in what would be expected. For example: No information about the hotel/rooms /area and no hairdryer although there was tea/coffee making facilities.
