The Elephant & Castle Hotel

Good location, town centre without much noise or bustle, it's a pretty quiet town!Bathroom clean and well-fitted.

They don't normally provide cooked items at breakfast on Monday mornings, just continental style. But we normally eat like that at breakfast anyway so it didn't bother us much. If you really want a full-fry, you can go to the Wetherspoons next door!The sash window in the bedroom was broken, so I had to prop open the lower half with a coat hanger! The upper half was seized solid shut. not good in warm weather, needs fixing (205)

Breakfast was excellent. Room was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our stay.

We would have preferred a double bed in the room but we were only there for two nights so we would ask about this before booking next time. We on a conference at Cefn Lea and we would have preferred to have stayed nearer, but we booked late.The hotel wanted to know when we were booking in and when we texted to say a time when we were nearer the hotel after a four hour journey, there was no one on reception and we had to wait 15 minutes for someone to appear. We left the conference in order to book in at the correct time and we were on a deadline to continue with the conference, so this was disappointing.

The room was very stuffy - windows didn’t open (due to being in 2nd floor) which meant it was very hot!

Breakfast could have been better - coffee was poor quality.

Very clean and welcoming. Its an old building so a little creaky and navigating around it keeps the brain ticking over :)

Exceptionally clean, but some elements of the room would benefit from some TLC.

The floor in the room we were in creaked and was not stable. You could not take a single step without loud creaks. The paper on the ceiling was coming away and the toilet seat was loose.There is no staff on site overnight.The plates on the cooked breakfast were hot but the food was not. Sausages tasted funny and we wouldn't eat them. Choice of ceral, fruit. yogurts and preserves was good.The television was on top of the wardrobe and could not been seen from the settee.

We had a room above the bar, flooring all creaks when walking on and no very insulated walls or doors. Bed was hard and uncomfortable, and room requires a refit..We went for breakfast on Saturday morning at 8.30 which was closed so we ate up the road!!! Also over priced.

Paid B and B but they don’t do breakfast on a Monday and they couldn’t do breakfast before 7:15 the following day. I start work at 7:30

Convenient for our visit to your football ground on Friday night. Lovely friendly staff. Comfy bed !

Liked everything about hotel except couldn’t find out how to get normal channels on tv!! No instructions. Other family members had the same problem.

This place is unfussy with great staff and adequate comforts. The bar is popular with friendly locals.

We had a fantastic view of the river and the room was very modern and new super comfy !

The desk is not manned at night ….any issues hard to resolve !
