- Amazing room. Great staff. Really lovely food. Breakfast was excellent. Eggs Benedict a big hit as was the omelet and the full Welsh. Pork belly and duck both excellent also. This might explain why we have been coming here for 30 years.
- Staff were all extremely accommodating, friendly and helpfulFacilities were really good, location is absolutely stunningTravelled 4 hours to collect a rescue dog with staffy aswell and the hotel was more then happy to accommodate both my dogs :) Perfect dog friendly hotel in my opinion
- Great location in a quiet corner of the main square. Comfy big sofas in the lounge area. Michelin star restaurant just down the road. Montgomery a lovely place. Great walking stop on the Offas Dyke path.
Cons -
- Leaving It's a shame that the pool is no longer in commission
- Nothing I couldn't fault my stay it was perfect
- My room was small and quite tired and basic, but I didn’t pay much for it. Perhaps manage expectations by describing the cheaper rooms as ‘economy’ or similar. The evening meal in the bar (fish and chips) was awful. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good.

Stayed over night with a group of friends while visiting Powis Castle & Welshpool. We had 2x premium twins & a king size rooms on 1st floor - good size, excellent condition, great shower. Watched a 6 nations match in the bar. We booked dinner in the bistro but ended up eating in the bar (same menu) as bistro was empty. Lovely meal, staff were friendly, relaxed service which was great as we were in no rush. Delicious breakfast. Recommend the cafe in the post office across the square.
Kingsize bed in room 14 was a bit squeeky.Pool was closed for s refurb (but they emailed and told us in advance
Kitchen staff looked after us even though we were a bit late arriving, the staff were great and a good cooked breakfast. Bonus being it was economical.
A small, interesting room that had everything in it.
It was a bit cold; the radiator at the bottom didn’t heat very well
Lovely old building - though there was a low bit of ceiling that we kept finding with our heads! Perfect location, free parking, excellent restaurant, quiet and peaceful at night until the clock outside chimed at 7am! The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The “small double” room that we booked was bigger than expected, perfectly adequate for one night. Would definitely go there again.
Slightly spoiled by a misunderstanding about the bill, they were struggling with some new software and it was quickly sorted out.
Location
Small and uncomfortable bed, dirty shower ,sink in shower blocked..stuff didn’t turned up on time to serve breakfast on Saturday morning
Very polite, welcoming, helpful staff. Food was of good quality - beds were comfortable and rooms clean and good provision of tea/coffee, handsoap etc - things you dont want to worry about when you're staying for just one night
Building could do with a bit of tlc but of little consequence when you feel welcomed and comfortable
Nice location and food was nice
They gave me two single beds as a single person and the mattresses weren’t very comfortable at all. Rooms quite dated.
The staff were very pleasant and friendly. We had an evening meal that was excellent. Breakfast was again very good. The bedroom was a good size but we did book a premier room so it should have been. Perfect location for being out and about around Mongomery.
We booked a premier room - as I thought these had a bath and a shower so we were totally disappointed when there was no bath. After a days walking it is so nice to have a bath. Especially when we saw loads of pcitures of beautiful baths including a lovely roll top one. We had a small shower and as far as I could see no heating - so we had to leave the door open from the bedroom to make sure it was warm enough for us. Opposite a door to the outside that took all the heat. We just feel this room should not have been classed as a premier room - otherwise everything else was clean and comfortable.
The staff were excellent.Food was very good.
The dining room should have warmer, very cold.
Heater, kettle, hair dryer provided in the room, lots of plugs, good food for dinner and good food for breakfast, staff was great.
Mattresses were lumpy and worn out
Don’t book with booking.com
Booked through booking.com, didn’t realise payment came out before the stay and subsequently paid as normal on departure, so ended up paying twice. More than 4 weeks and still waiting for refund. Hotel and booking.com as bad as each other

Very friendly and helpful staff, great location. Food is very good - both breakfast and restaurant.
Parking wasn’t as easy as I thought, can get busy.
Tha breakfast was excellent. Cooked to order and first class.
The drinks invite var we're too expensive
The breakfast was ok, the waitress was nice
The whole hotel was freezing cold, and the room was filthy. I had to spend half an hour cleaning the bathroom and a filthy toilet before we could use it. bare wires showing on a ceiling light.zero parkingthe list is endless
Comfortable beds, clean and welcoming Food including breakfast and Sunday roast excellent All in a lovely town with a lovely walk to the castle
The room is warm and clean, good for a short stay.
We didn't like that they included 10℅ service charge in our dinner receipt without notification, not right.
