Pros +
- Everything
- Reasonable breakfast , helpful staff and decent bar food. Lots of parking .
- The 4 bedrooms were perfect for our group of 8 and the location was quiet, comfortable and convenient for us. We enjoyed a delicious dinner in the restaurant. The waiter was delightful, we give him 5 stars!
Cons -
- Music too loud everywhere in the bar . Unfortunately had a fire alarm go off at 1 o'clock in the morning !
- We were a little early for check in and only 1 room was ready. It didn't feel like any effort was made to accommodate us, we had to wait almost 2 hours for the other 3 rooms. I finally knocked on the door of the last room and the cleaner turned off the radio/tv, ended her phone conversation and said she would be finished in 20 minutes.
- Ice-cold welcome as if we were disturbing the lady behind the bar who was on her phone. After check-in she asked us (in a not overly friendly manner) if we had any proof of payment for the rooms. We answered that the amount was taken from our account a couple of days ago. 'Can you prove that?" Arriving after a long day on the road, this is definitely not the welcome you expect. As this was the 8th hotel on our trip, we had to start searching through our bank account instead of relaxing with a drink. On top of that, due to Booking not mentioning the name of the hotel when withdrawing the money, we could not provide evidence which amount was for this booking. Rather than checking herself, she insisted again that we should provide proof of payment. I went back through my mails and fortunately found a statement in a message from Booking that we had paid. When I showed that, she scowled and said, that is what I asked you to show me. Her attitude! I mentioned that I don't expect to having to do the hotel's administration when arriving and that I did not much appreciate her way of addressing us. She only then explained that they had just taken on the pub a couple of months ago and were struggling to find the information on the bookings made before their arrival. If she had only explained that right from the beginning, it could have avoided a lot of frustration. Dinner was OK although the Crumble, looked more like (nice) warm fruit with a crushed biscuit on top than like a crumble.

Rooms are basic, could do with a little TLC. Dinner and breakfast were OK. Lovely young and kind lad served our table for dinner.

We enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of Salisbury in a country setting, but only a short drive away from the sights.
The room was comfortable and spacious. The food and service was good. The dining room carpet needed some attention.
The food , the people , Ben , Karen , Bogden the chef and his wife were all great . Nothing was too much to ask for. This place is probably over looked by people and it should not be .
Not enough time there
Very conveniently located with plenty of parking. We had a twin room which was quiet and comfortable. Great full English breakfast. Staff were cheerful and helpful.
Can't think of anything we didn't like.
The food for dinner and breakfast were fantastic. We were welcomed very, very kind. The rooms were easy, but everything was there to walk up the stairs to the rooms with a dog and luggage is quite complicated. Parking slots are available, which is very good.
lovely food ,very nice staff , dog ? friendly.
A lovely breakfast and a fantastic and comfortable place to stay. Set in a beautiful little village will definitely recommend ?
NA
We travelled to an area we have never visited before.Main purpose was to go to Stonehenge.Room was just right.Bar and restaurant were excellent
the room small but clean and tidy.
Wonderful place to stay, we stayed 3 nights in the twin room. Had tea/coffee facilities in the room, a decent sized ensuite bathroom. The beds were comfortable and warm. The staff were very friendly from check-in to the complimentary breakfast service we received. The breakfast was fantastic, a filling and delicious full english that we took full advantage of each morning we were there. Couldn't rate the reception staff, chef, or housekeeper any higher, and we wished we could have stayed longer. Would highly recommend.
Good but could have been better if restaurant had been open
Bar and restaurant not open on Monday but opening times are hidden in the description of the property
Nice pub,
Menu pretty limited although ok, noisy people leaving pub in car park, noisy residents in rooms adjoining, not pubs fault obviously, a few signs wouldn't go a miss though! If you want early peacful night not the place to stay.
The staff were wonderful, food was amazing
The beds were too soft, but that is just personal comfort preference, not their fault
The staff were all friendly and welcoming, the pub and the decor is beautiful, my partner loved the wooden beams and the large collection of memorabilia throughout. The close location to Salisbury, is a bonus.
Breakfast was lovely, location is lovely, people working in the hotel were lovely, the ambience, accommodation and facilities were all lovely. What made it exceptional were the amalgam of all of the above stated elements which lead to me to give my experience a 9.2 out of 10. If its of any importance to the reader of this review at all, I would never rate anywhere a full 10 as it doesn't exist, its a superlative I would not rate anywhere except for my own home.
Breakfast was lovely.Polite and welcoming especially the blonde lady.Very clean.
Mattress was a bit springy and not very comfortable.
Well the lady who served our breakfast in the morning she was very very nice couldn't do enough for us. She made us feel welcome
When arriving the property after our three hour drive there was a lady collecting some glasses outside and as we walked towards her she just looked at us never acknowledged us and when we got into the pub the same lady she's checked us in but there was no welcome no hospitality she gave us the key and told us to go outside go through the little gate the doors there on your left we couldn't find it for the about ten minutes we had to ask other people if they knew where the room was we tried the key in two different doors and we finally found the one. We were very disappointed
