Pros +
- The location was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful even when busy. The restaurant was great and so was breakfast.
- Great location and authentic Tudor charm.
- Cute bedrooms, full of character and looking freshly decorated. Impressed at thoughtful touches like the Nespresso coffee machine and magazines - amazing value for the price we paid, including a great breakfast. We also had a blow out steak dinner in the restaurant which was fab.
Cons -
- A minor quibble, but the menu in our room differed from the one in the restaurant, which was a little disappointing when we were looking forward to a particular starter that wasn’t actually available!
- A security light outside our window stayed on all night, which bugged me.
- The shower's mixer didn't work well.

Very friendly staff, beautifully appointed rooms and comfortable bed.
The shower's mixer didn't work well.
Great location, wonderful staff who were welcoming, friendly and professional. Breakfast is great value. The restaurant has an amazing menu, great to be able to taste South African food. Very busy every evening, so remember and book. The building is very old and bursting with character. You won't be disappointed.
No parking, however the public car park is a short distance away and the hotel sells local authority parking tickets at just £8 for 24 hours.
It was an old property and all the floors sloped and it was sometimes difficult to retain one’s balance, particularly on the stairs. Nevertheless it was a reasonably comfortable place to stay.
The uneven surfaces and stairs as mentioned above
The room i stayed in was old wood panels throughout the place, it had a brick fire that was no longer used for that purpose, lovely large shower, although i faced a busy main road it wasn’t intrusive , the food was great and plenty of choice for breakfast, in all a very pleasant stay, staff attentive.
Only one gripe the bedside table lamps were difficult to find the switch in the dark
History of property. Welcoming atmosphere.
Only way to get to room was outside, up metal staircase. Not ideal if mobility issues. Cleanliness - cobwebs in room above window curtain and wardrobe and needed cleaning around skirting board area. But a very old property. Bathroom and toilet clean. A working second socket needed under kettle and coffee machine.
The atmosphere amd age of the property is wonderful as is its location.
Having stayed here several.times we had hoped this stay would be as good as previous stays. Sadly it wasn't. Several items including a light in the bathroom ceiling were broken, staff were not particularly friendly (unlike previous stsys). Everything needed TLC from roo.s to customer service. A great shame.
We really loved our stay. The room was perfectly adequate for our one night away, with great character, a lovely bathroom and nice decor. The staff were really helpful. Highly recommended.

Place is awesome.Brekky good.
Couple of loud functions occured during stay but guess this keeps wonderful places like this viable.
Great location close to Cathedral and town. Hotel full of character. Excellent Breakfast
Really quirky, old building, full of rustic charm, fantastic location for the cathedral. Room was immaculate and the staff were all lovely, welcoming and extremely helpful. Especially when we arrived late due to work, although the kitchen had not long closed they still allowed us to order and eat in their beautiful bar/ restaurant.
I do not have anything negative to say, it was wonderful.
Great central location, lovely room, coffee machine Warm, quietGood breakfast

Beautiful ancient building , very atmospheric x Tasteful decor , comfy beds excellent breakfast x
Although the hotel is central and near the cathedral , our room was on first floor and next to the road x double glazing but still traffic noise and no privacy if beautiful curtains were drawn . Also bathroom and separate toilet very small .

The rain!
