Cons -
- We called to explain we were late - all ok. When we arrived no one around, had to find help, eventually we were given a room key and told room 8. We got there & it was occupied. We scared someone badly! Our room had used toiletries in. Just complete joke.
- Shower curtains....detest them

Beautiful location. Excellent comfortable bed in a large bedroom with a coffee machine as well as kettle, even hot chocolate and very nice biscuits. The Continental and cooked breakfast was delicious with very superior bacon and Sausages.
Everything was excellent.
The staff are amazing
The bed was lumpy and tge linens were poor quality
Really nice big room with a beautiful view of the river. The restaurant was nice and the dinner good. Free parking was very convenient. Buffet breakfast was good.
Wish the restaurant could have been open longer hours like lunchtime, as there weren't a lot of food options within a short walk. A note they gave upon arrival told us to avoid the 8am hour for breakfast, but when we got there in that hour, there was barely anyone there.
Good location.
Restaurant was understaffed and slow service.
We ended up in a spacious room with a cathedral spire view.
Our first room was a very nice room in the old part of the hotel but we were overcome by the moldy smell after one night. Staff readily moved us Breakfast is mediocre for the price. No fresh fruit at all. Room needed vacuuming.
Lovely accommodations near the heart of Salisbury. Friendly staff, great food, comfortable room.
The location was fabulous, we enjoyed the short walk into town, which required a stroll through the cathedral grounds. It was in a quiet part of town. There was also a good selection at the breakfast buffet.
I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. For instance, the bathroom had paint peeling off the ceiling over the shower and the exhaust fan was covered in dust. The carpets were also dusty and there were dead bugs smeared on the window panes, which we cleaned up. The windows were also not well maintained, some were difficult to open and the wood in the window frame seemed to have rotted away and was very unstable. Obviously, staying here in the summertime without any air conditioning, you need to be able open the windows, as the rooms are old and quite stuffy. I was also disappointed they charge 5 pounds per night for use of their carpark. Being guests of the hotel and paying for a night's stay already, I don't see why it's necessary to charge guests again for use of parking. It comes off as greedy.
A little tired, but great location and fantastic Venison & Ale Pie.
A little tired, but comfortable non the less.
Location is great. Views are wonderful. Breakfast was a full spectrum of great food.
Lack of air conditioning. Yes, it's a Europe thing but our room was exceptionally warm. Single beds need a mattress upgrade and if you don't have air conditioning then figure out how to layer bedding/sheets.
The breakfast was excellent. The location is nice, beside a stream and close to the cathedral. The staff was professional and competent, aside from initially trying to put us in a room beneath all reasonable standards of health and comfort.
All the rooms smelled of mold. We booked two rooms, and one they tried to put us in didn't even have windows that could open, while the mold and hot humidity in it were overwhelming. It's surprising health authorities allow this, given the toxicity of severe mold infestations. Fortunately, they were able to substitute a room with working windows. That first, moldy room had been between the busy street and the parking lot, too. Not romantic at all. But the two rooms we ended up in, one in the new wing, one in the older part of the hotel, both had mold smells the fans couldn't fully exhaust through the open windows.
The room was authentic to the original building, very spacious, nice decorated. Very nice bathroom.
It's an old building, so I understand the poor ventilation and minimal cooling, but a ceiling fan over the bed/sitting area would have help immensely, or even a floor fan with a long enough cord to be useful.
Bed was comfortable. view was nice looking over the river Avon
Breakfast wasn't up to a four star hotel. hot water was only warm, ask for more hash browns I am still waiting, staff did seem much interesting in replenish them. Continental breakfast if you call it one consisted of or should I say had no cheese rolls etc.
Location great, room wonderful, breakfast good,
Children running all over the place, there was a wedding reception on, kids running all over the place, worried that they could fall in river, I know it's not the hotel or staff fault, the parent's should take more responsibility,
The food was good as were the staff(with the exception of the older receptionist). The ground floor room opening onto the lawn was very pleasant.
The room was not vacuumed during our whole stay. This had a particular relevance as walking in and out of the French doors to the lawn brought in a lot of detritus. We noted that neither of the bedside lights worked and there was no power socket next to the bed.
Location was fine and room was big
It could have air condition
