Original Sokos Hotel Viru

Its conveniently located to the old town, shopping and restaurants. Although expensive, having the parking garage attached was a convenience vs off-street parking. Breakfast buffet-included: many choices, food delicious, staff efficient & courteous

Big hotel with plenty of space in reception area

The breakfast surcharge is 18 euro per person, I know it's a fabulous breakfast,but as I only drink 1 coffee and a croissant, there should be an option to pay only for that.

Location was good. Sokos hotel is a Sokos hotel.

The room was not very tidy. I found earplugs and other trash from the floor

The location was excellent for our needs--close to the old town and the center as well. The hotel is next to a large mall with a lovely grocery market. We had a "superior" room which was a good size and quiet. We were on a low floor so we had a view of parking, but probably it would be nicer from higher up. There was a separate lounge area at the entrance to our wing of rooms which came in handy when my partner had to be on the phone. The beds were very comfortable (although quite high off the ground). We both got some good quality sleep.The breakfast was decent, but not exceptional. And, the coffee could have been better. We were able to check in immediately even though we arrived a bit early. We got an unexpected room cleaning without a request. So overall, service was very good.

In the room, the carpet, woodwork and bathroom all showed quite a bit of wear and tear. The room, especially the bathroom, needs some refurbishing. Everything was clean, but it looked somewhat shabby. While very comfortable to sleep on, the matress toppers were hard to keep on the beds.

The view for my room was very nice. The location was great very short distance to the Old Town. Overall very comfortable Hotel.

Breakfast can get very hectic but they do indicate the best times to go.

No playroom for kids in the hotel, nothing to really do in Hotel in the evening with kids.

Worn out faucets and shower, didn't like the bed, breakfast is for 3-star hotel. Overall overpriced, won't come back.

Staff was so nice.Also the place is very close to the Viru gate.

The odor. The bathroom in the room smells like a public toilet.

The room is very small, and the bathroom wasn’t that clean (mostly the ceiling, as odd as that might sound. It has a low ceiling so it’s hard to miss).

Breakfast was pretty good nowadays. If it had also cold salmon slices I would rate it excellent.The breakfast room an the reception hall are impressively spacious.

Lights control in the room is stupid: to have electricity available at the toilet at night I have to switch on any of two master switches near the adult's bed turning all the lights on (pre-switched before sleep with their dedicated switches) in the room along with this.Smell at all the 9th floor is unpleasant (not that disgusting, but makes uncomfortable feeling every time entering the floor). The location of toilet paper, bidet and bidet control in the bathroom is suitable only for very tall people (as I am) only. I can hardly imagine if this could force to walk to them for the shorter people.While the hotel location and height would be perfect for sightseeing, the lift doesn't allow to go the higher floor than the keycard allows.

Travelling as a family. We loved the location, so convenient for exploring the old town which starts just across the road. We were travelling by land and sea and we walked in from the coach station, and walked to Ferry terminal on departure, both about 15 minutes. We chose this hotel because have stayed in Sokos hotels in Finland, and this hotel had rooms with sauna!! Had a twin room with sofa bed and a Finnish sauna at the back of the bathroom. Relaxing in the sauna was a wonderful experience, lafter walking around town and dinner at the main square. Our room was on the 16th floor and had full wall of windows with views towards the city and old town, which was really lovely. Also enjoyed having a minibar, kettle and coffee maker, thank you very much :D The breakfast was great - just like in Sokos Hotels in Finland - we were very pleased to find even Karelia pies, which was a treat! The rooftop bar is also worth a mention for your lovely pics on the 24th floor (if I remember right). Will book the same room with Sauna next time when in Tallinn.

The location and the view. Also they had a decent breakfast.

- Reconstruction with heavy drilling in the room above starting at 9 AM (why would you place guests in rooms adjacent to renovation work?).- Midnight parties seem to be common here, and staff were unable to do anything about them. If this is meant to be a party hotel, please state it clearly on the website.- The reception was difficult to reach, which was especially alarming during a fire alert (they simply wouldn’t answer the phone).- Unfriendly staff: no smiles, no greetings, and they would force guests out of the breakfast area at 10:01 sharp, regardless of whether you had finished your meal. A complete contrast to the excellent service at their Helsinki locations.

Excellent location beside Old Town. Spacious room, comfortable bed, all facilities worked properly. Good breakfast buffet. Great view of city from 12th floor room. Four elevators so little waiting.

Rooms and public space design, very much a result of Soviet architectural design, not a warm welcoming design.

Very professional and helpful hotel staff. Excellent facilities. Good buffet breakfast. Short walk to Old Town and ferry terminal.
