Pros +
- The staff was very kind and accommodating
- Beautiful location. Good pool area.
- The friendly receptionist (Marta) who can assist you with any tourist needs
Cons -
- Wifi didn´t work I usually don´t have my expectations high, and you would think that for a 4 start hotel would be better, but no. I mean not bad, but I believe the hotel should better manage people expectations, sell this idea of spa or terms, and is nothing is on the grounds, is on the surroundings. It was just one night, and we stayed for work, so for what it was it was okay, but just because we had a sale and didn`t pay much. It is a bit expensive for you maybe consider somewhere else.
- The beds are to hard (I guess the mattress is too hard to sleep on and one extra pillow would be nice)The outdoor bathroom is dark, the light turns off bbb
- Mixed feelings on the staff, some were great, others not so much. Lacking breakfast buffet, and worn out rooms. AC not working on the first night and the first room we had, had black mold under it. Switching rooms was not a problem. The beds were good, comfortable.

Mattress, pillows and blankets are a bit dated
Friendly staff, nice breakfast, no noise in the room.
Cold common areas including restaurant, room also got cold fast, very basic bathroom and the shower didn't hold its position. Dinner was not fully cooked.
The location
The 114 bedroom had a moldy smell, the sink was clogged, the hairdryer was broken, the floor was dirty with dust and debris. Worn out bedroom furniture and facilities. Not suitable for a 4 starred hotel
very quiet area.parking was easy.room was very clean and comfortable.food was very good.
Nice location clean and comfortable but staff weren’t the best and the breakfast was a real turnoff.
The breakfast was awful….unripe melons and tasteless pineapple, dreadful institutional coffee , a sad collection of hot cooked options and stale pastries.
Beautiful site and outdoor facilities
Mattresses in very bad condition, old and very hardBreakfast very limited and poor options Hotel Staff jumping on the swimming pool and being noisy, when myself and another guest claimed that they were sprinkling us with their jumps on the pool they went to the other side, nevertheless very noisy because of them, didn’t like at all having hotel staff swimming in the pool and sunbathing mixed with guests
This hotel is stylish converted from a Convent and beautifully designed with a real sense of history. The dinner and breakfast were wonderful and great value for money. The staff were very helpful. We stayed here last year and returned as we enjoyed it so much. We were upgraded to a junior suite was was spacious.
Sadly, a few small touches let the stay down for a hotel of this quality. The bathroom was tired, the shower head would not stay in position and had to be hand held and the tap/ shower adapter head came off in my hand and the grout had mould in places.
Passable
Bathed both nights in cold water. Had a bath tub without a bath plug. Complained first night but problem not solved. Breakfast quite average.
breakfast was amazing! location was beautiful with stunning gardens and history surrounding the grounds
our room location was a bit drab on other side of property looking out at apartments behind. Didn't make sitting out on the room patio appealing.
Location and wonderful historical building.
Bed not very comfortable. Breakfast could be better.
The location was so tranquil and the hotel immaculately clean .
Seeing as this is a destination hotel, o wasn’t a fan of having the local kids playing football in the pool. This should only be allowed when visitors are not sitting out by the pool. Also, we booked the Spa to only be told just before use that the facilities were not available . That was disappointing.
Peaceful surroundings, tasteful interior decoration.Pleasant breakfast.
Location, beautiful grounds.
No tea/coffee making facilities or even bottled water! The old building was amazing but the staff were not welcoming or very friendly.
Great location. Breakfast was excellent.
Rules aplenty. Car park hard to find, not signposted from the road. Didn't like the shower above the bath, prefer a separate shower unit. Booking in time strictly adhered to, 3pm, breakfast time to be booked in advance. Hair on the floor of the shower and room. Towels well worn. Bed harder than I like
We loved the grounds, the view, the pool, the town
Breakfast was meh
Character hotel, I thought I was in a Monastery ?I was also able to sit outside my room working or having an early morning coffee
8am breakfast start was just too late for a busy day
It was a new experience for us - stay in a monastery, whose walls and structure is from the old times, but the furnishing is modern. We liked it! The restaurant is good, the specially - bacalhau à lagareiro, we recommend.
The pillow and mattress could be better, the temperature inside the room in the night was not that comfortable (in November it was cold).
