- My son and I enjoyed our stay here. The couple that run it were very pleasant and accommodating. We had an excellent stay here. She made a homemade delicious meal for the two of us the evening we were there. Her husband served us. We paid 18 Euros each for the meal and drinks. It was truly worth it! Thank you to both of you.
Cons -
- The rooms are less plush than newer hotels, but the host were sweet, caring people who made sure we had something to eat after a very long day on the Camino. They were very kind to us as was their little dog Lucas.

The location was great and the owner/couple accomodated us for early check in as we arrived early. Since we arrived there on Easter Sunday they helped us for church information to attend theEaster Mass. And this hostel has a beautiful chapel where you can pray and be with God.
Clean and comfortable rooms. Splendid views. Warm welcome for pilgrims.
As this is fully automated, you will not know that the hotel transferred me to Rio Eume due to a 'breakdown'. Rio Eume was lovely, at €18, yet I paid €40 to stay at Hostal San Cristobal. I have written to them, twice, and you to ask for a refund of €22 - ie the difference in cost - but have heard nothing thus far

The hostel was fancy! It doesn't quite look like a hostel, rather more like a hotel in a mansion on top of a hill. The interior is beautiful as well as the vista of the city from the garden. However, it is a 15-20 minute walk uphill, along a highway with heavy vehicles which could seem a long one if you are coming here while walking the camino. It is also necessary to consider that one has to walk back to the city for dinner and grocery as well. The next morning, it is the same walk before starting the camino again because the hostel is out of the camino ingles route. That was the only minus point for me in this hostel. Otherwise, the service inside the hostel was amazing!
It was extremely peaceful, on a hill with a garden with views to sit and relax.
The property is very clean and well maintained
Unfortunately, the value for money is not good. I came here as pilgrim (i.e., restricted weight) and the room did not have any shower soap. Also the room was very small for the price paid, with no WiFi and A/C.
This is a friendly family run hotel that is quiet and contemplative. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with any issues.Rooms very clean.
Perhaps a better dryer?
The edge of town location is a virtue. Its peaceful. The staff were welcoming & helpful. Water for showering was both hot and delivered at high pressure (good for me!)
Breakfast arrived later than advertised. The coffee quality (unusually for Galicia in my experience) was deeply disappointing and the fare, minimal. Wifi coverage is patchy & did not include my room at all
Lovely, friendly staff. Good location for walking into town or to the beach. Basic room with comfortable beds, and very clean. Enjoyed sitting outside, in the late evenings, watching the sunset & having a drink while taking in the beautiful view. Didn't eat breakfast there, as were going out in the mornings, but it was impressive that they offered a vegetarian option. As the hostel is primarily aimed at Camino walkers, there is a midnight curfew, which meant that the hostel was nice & quiet at night. All in all, a lovely place to stay.
There didn't seem to be WiFi in the room, which would have been useful. Also, some bedside lamps would be good, in addition to the main ceiling light. The midnight deadline for being back in the hostel could be difficult if you wanted to go to a concert or festival in the evening, as things start & finish late in Spain.. However, as it is a hostel aimed primarily at walkers, who will usually be making early starts, the curfew is understandable. .
This was one of my favorite places to stay on the Camino. It's extremely spotless, everything is so well managed and maintained. The people working there (at this time of the year just a lady and her son, are lovely, very welcoming and do everything to make sure all is good for you. The actual place (a convent in the past), is beautiful, with an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity. It's just very slightly away from the town, but a very doable walk. They offer breakfast and dinner, both OK but I preferred the breakfast
Nothing to complain about
We had the warmest welcome from our hosts who couldn’t have been more hospitable. The dinner was amazing and plenty of it. The views are stunning from this lovely old ex- convent. The showers were hot and powerful. Our host spoke English which was helpful.
I expected a little more from this place but it was very much like a boarding school room however it served its purpose for a one night accommodation along the Ingles Camino. The property has a great view of Pontedeume though.
The courtyard/garden view shouldn't be advertised as its not a great view of a desolate garden
Lovely view, staff were very nice and room was clean.
I enjoyed my stay here in this beautiful building with some history to it and great views. Staff were all extremely helpful and attentive. I agree with feedback from another person that it has the potential to be a great place for a retreat. Without the music (see below) it’s a very peaceful and tranquil place. Although pretty close to plenty of places to eat and drink I opted to do that at the Hostal and wasn’t disappointed. They even set up a table outside just for me so I could enjoy the wonderful views whilst eating.
The background music inside and outside the building became a bit tiring/annoying after a while, not least because inside it was the same album/playlist on a loop. Half way through my evening meal outside - again peaceful and tranquil with beautiful views - a window was opened and at something like the 11th or 12th version of “My Way” I stopped counting.
The staff were very friendly and helpful
Bathroom small and antiquated shower
It is quiet and has potential to be a great place for pilgrims.
The gate. Getting out required coordinating with the staff. A bit out of town and up the hill.
