Comfortable room, central location, excellent breakfast.
Great location. Great breakfast buffet. Room was clean, comfortable and the shower was excellent. Walk to everything from the hotel. Directly next door to the monastery.
Alley outside our room was somewhat noisy with traffic
Location was great and staff was very nice. Breakfast was super as it included so much.
The air conditioner didn't cool. Our first room was 24• and only cooled down to 22 with the window open. Switched rooms and that started at 25 and made it to 24. Staff said it worked and they were sorry, but didn't sleep for 2 nights.
We stayed overnight on our way from Lisbon to Porto and it was lovely. The hotel is huge, clean, very new looking, and good value for money. The hotel is right next to the monastery and the old town. Staff were friendly, rooms were quiet. Would definitely recommend.
The pool didn't open until 10am.
You are staying in the actual historic cells of the alcobaca monastery. Rooms have been renovated and modernized to stay in simple luxury. The hallways were magnificent with tiny doors to access your room, which made you feel like you went back in history. The pool was amazing with the cloister pillars in the middle. So peaceful! Breakfast was served in the jaw dropping ballroom. As you walk the halls you can see parts of the monestary not on the public tour . Fantastic!
Loved everything
The hotel is STUNNING! The staff were all very kind. There were some language barriers with the very sweet bartender and we ended up with the wrong drinks we ordered but that's all part of travel! :) We walked into the town and had the best pizza ever! The attached museum is so worth visiting! We had the best time during this unexpected visit! So glad we found the hotel and the town!
They didn't serve food until late - which I know is a European thing - but something to keep in mind!
Spacious rooms, quiet and comfortable.Staying in such a historical place like this is great. The restoration of the property is done exceptionally with the modern comforts not overshadowing the history.
Great atmosphere in a special building which was superbly refurbished, nice and large room, very good food at the restaurant, central location with free parking.
Staf fin restaurant still a little inexperienced
The staff at the restaurant and the bar were lovely, a huge amount of gratitude to Fidel and Mariana .
Esthetics and minimalist clean spaces
A/C was very loud
Lovely remodel of historic building. Very simple and understated. Breakfast was lovely. A lunch not so good. A bit disappointing for the price.
my room smelled really musty or like mildew was growing. I advised the clerk on check out he didn’t give me any feedback. the night clerk seemed hostile or something. Maybe tired but he wasn’t very welcoming.
my room odor
incredible building and experience of being in adapted monastery complex with many five-star features from the warm spacious bedroom to the indoor pool heated to 30 degrees, and very good breakfast
authentic monastic experience means that rooms are a bit austere, and there are some long walks to reach the restaurant and brfeakfast rooms. Breakfast was really good but the restaurant, though pricy didnt meet expectations of five-star options,.
Astonishing renovation of one 16th century cloister of a larger monastery. Fascinating story. Beautifully appointed, austerely appointed but absolutely stunning.
Be aware that even the bar does not open till 7:30pm.
The bed was extremely comfortable and sleeping conditions (temperature and darkness) perfect so had a brilliant sleep. The building is magnificent but the reception area is cold and uninviting and whilst I appreciate they are trying to retain the feel of the old monastery some luxury touches would be nice in the hotel and rooms. The breakfast was very good although for a five star hotel usual to have an egg station for omelettes etc.
Cold and uninviting reception area and the rooms were basic, the shower was good. I would expect a few more toiletries. There is furniture dotted about the hotel but it is like dolls furniture and not comfortable. Even the Christmas trees (we were there late November) were a bit lacking in lights/decorations. Strangely, no milk provided to make tea. I called reception to ask for some and they treated this like a strange request! I expected a better selection of teas/coffees and maybe some biscuits in the room. The pool is lovely but the gym is totally inadequate for a 5 star hotel, a few machines but no free weights. I am glad we experienced the hotel but there is just something lacking, no warmth and no luxury touch to it.
Part of an historical Monastery, well worth visiting. Room is spacious and the breakfast is delicious with lot of varieties
Breakfast was excellent! very clean and organized; loved it!!My wife and I were truly impressed by the property; it is exceptional. We loved everything about it, the history was amazing the construction is a true marvel. Congratulations on this beautiful property. We highly recommend it. ***** (five star service).
A great historical location, amazing restoration, great restaurant, fun spa.
Small detail, but the rest of the hotel is all about details, the cigarette machine at the bar clashes with decor and ambiance.
