About

Located in the heart of the Gaillac Vineyard, Château de Salettes dates back to the 13th and 15th centuries and features air-conditioned rooms with views of the Tarn countryside. There is an outdoor swimming pool and a terrace with sun loungers. At an extra cost, you can enjoy a well-being center which features a sauna, hot tub, massages and various treatments. All rooms are spacious and decorated in a contemporary style. Satellite TV, free Wi-Fi access, air conditioning and a mini-bar are provided in each of the guest rooms. Private bathrooms include a bathtub and a hairdryer. A cooked breakfast is offered daily and evening meals, prepared with traditional, regional produce are available at Château de Salettes's gastronomic restaurant upon prior booking. In the summer, guests can dine outside on the terrace, which offers views of the vineyards. Every evening, at 18:30, a wine tasting is offered. Free Wi-Fi access is available from the public areas of Château de Salettes. Free parking is provided for those exploring the Midi-Pyrénées region by car. Chateau-de-Mauriac is 0.6 mi away and the fortified town of Cordes-sur-Ciel is a 15-minute drive away. Albi is 16 mi away.

    Pros +

    • Only booked a ‘comfort room’ but it was very comfortable and perfect for a short stay. Very attentive staff, exceptionally clean.
    • The location and the conversion of the old chateau. Staff friendly and helpful
    • The amazing views, the peaceful and beautiful location, the wonderful pool. The furnishings are unfussy and beautifully designed. Every member of staff is a joy.

    Cons -

    • Booked dinner and although starter and dessert were excellent the duck was served ‘well done’ and therefore tough which spoilt an otherwise delicious meal.
    • Not really a Spa hotel, Dinner was rushed, three courses in just over an hour
    • The breakfast is the only thing falls a little short — the buffet room feels gigantic and soulless (esp for such a gorgeous place), tasteless eggs and no choice of milk. Also, dogs should not be allowed in dining room/bfast room.

It was a nice place with a comfortable bed and good air conditioning. The pool is in the most beautiful location. The breakfast is good but expensive.

They don't provide any snacks. They do provide drinks but difficult to find anyone to serve them. If you want a glass of wine then fine but otherwise very limited, not brilliant for children on that front. The whole place feels more like a bnb rather than a hotel which would be fine if there was anything close by where you could go and grab a snack or drink but really you have to drive about 15 minutes to either Cordes or Gaillac. More facilities and staff would have been appreciated.

Swimming in the pool in amongst the vineyards was beautiful. As was having a drink overlooking the vines as the sun went down. Food was amazing- our 19 year old son said dinner was the nicest meal he’d ever had

Worth flagging up the steep stairs to some rooms. It a very old building with no lifts. My mother in law struggled a bit

The surroundings, the rooms and the restaurant. Extremely friendly staff, very patient and welcoming, although we arrived with 3 kids.

Lovely location. Very clean. Modern bathroom. Great restaurant and very friendly staff.

Ground floor room with only patio door, no windows so couldn't open at night so room was quite hot. Air con a bit noisy.

    Disappointing

Overall, we were not impressed and didn´t get value for money in this Chateau. Location and pictures speak to a quiet and relaxing place with sauna, hot tub, massages and not least a nice pool with good views over the wine fields. Reality was the pool area was crowded and there weren´t sunbeds for everyone. Our stay unfortunately overlapped with the stay of a quite disrespectful family (which we ended up naming the Flintstones). Its fair enough the Chateau accepts children, and yes children can be noisy, but in our opinion the balance here was not ok; or we were just unlucky or grumpy. In the end it wasn´t quite what we had in mind when we booked a relaxing stay.

great view and chilling swimming pool area

mattress is too hard and shower room not designed properly worst thing is they charged you twice!!be aware of thatI’ve paid thru Booking.com, and my husband didn’t know about it. when check out they asked another full payment!! horrible after 6 days until the day I write this review they still have not refund my €172

the location was beautiful and easy to get to from Gaillac

Would be great if they could get an electric charging point fitted

    3BerniePosted on: 7-22-2022

    Very inconvenient

No wifi, inconvenient and difficult access to the swimming pool four flights of stairs down a rickety wooden tower, no bedside tables so kindle, reading glasses and water glass had to go on the floor, shower drained too slowly so to avoid flooding the bathroom only a gentle shower was possible, no place to put suitcases, no hand basin anywhere near the lavatory

The setting, friendly staff, superb food in a relaxed atmosphere

    6RobertPosted on: 8-3-2021

The spa was very nice as was the pool. The room was good. The bathroom was very nice but did not have a stand-up shower (strange). the food was good but expensive.

The decor (furniture, doors, etc). of the rooms was not in keeping with a historic building and was rather cheap looking. There was no shower.
