    • The staff, and another guy that I can't remember his name were awesome. I never had customer service like this group before. We had an issue with Avis and they tried their best to resolve for us. We will absolutely go back!
    • Everything was perfect. The grounds, the room, the food, the services, and the price.
    • We absolutely loved this hotel!! We got a gorgeous room with a balcony overlooking the vineyards. The spa area was also very nice and comfortable. Then we had dinner, and it was delicious — but what really made it extraordinary was the amazing staff throughout the whole meal. They were all so friendly and sweet! The staff at the reception was also very kind and professional. And the breakfast… so nice!! The scrambled eggs, all the sweet pastries, the cheese… everything was perfect. We also rented an electric bike, and the staff gave us an app with a map to get around — it worked perfectly.Really, we loved every detail — how beautiful everything was, the swans in the small pond… just wonderful!

    Cons -

    • I don’t know, we really enjoyed everything. We were so relaxed, everything looked so well maintained…
    • All in all we liked everything but perhaps breakfast options can be better.
    • The room was acceptable but not really anything special for such a high end property and definitely was not a good value for the money. The receptionists were young and not very mature and also had a haughty attitude and did not appear to willingly accommodate our requests. Would have liked to have walked into St Emillion but there were no sidewalks and it is a very busy road.

Beautiful property. Great staff. Very helpful and polite. The location is also very good. You are right in the middle of all the wineries if you want to do tours. We loved it! also the staff at the spa were excellent. We loved our massage and facial.

All in all we liked everything but perhaps breakfast options can be better.

The grounds of the property were in a idyllic setting and it was close to St. Emillion. Appreciated the free, plentiful parking.

Château Hôtel Grand Barrail is lovely - ideally situated in the middle of vineyards with top-notch facilities, services, and food/wine. Highly recommend as a great place to rest and recharge. The pool area is nice as well with full-service waitstaff. They also have a convenient shuttle van that can take you to and from St. Emilion so you don't have to drive yourself. Everything was perfect for our stay.

    We enjoyed everything...

Ordered eggs, and we were totally satisfied with the service and the food. The staff at the front desk was particularly thoughtful and helpful. I would stay with this hotel again if I return.

The location and the grounds that were beautiful!

Breakfast was nothing special The croissants were not buttery as they typically are in France;the bread wasnt great either! The food at the restaurant was good but nothing special, But the service was very good, with special chef's offerings before the appetizers and small sweets at the end.

Woman sommelier running the wine bar was disinterested in serving us properly. She didn’t explain anything, brought our wine and then just left.

Lovely chateau on a beautiful vineyard outside St. Emilion. Could not ask for a nicer location or accommodation. 10/10 rating for all categories!

    8CindyPosted on: 9-14-2025

Stunning property, 5 minutes to St Emilion with very well appointed rooms. The grounds are spectacular!! We took advantage of the free shuttle to St Emilion so that we could enjoy all the wonderful wines.

The location close to St Emilion, the ambience, the setting, the beautiful building, the out door dining, swimming pool,in fact everything. Lovely Chateau experience. Probably the best we've ever had in France and we've travelled alot throughout France over the years. Even the parking was so easy and so close. Nothing was too much trouble for the excellent staff.

Beautiful setting. Great restaurant and facilities/ rooms.

It lacks something extra or special for a 5 star. Too close to the road. Doesn’t have anything really to do with Kids. If it rains, no interior swimming pool and the exterior is not warm. But again, nothing to do with the Kids. They have only one electric bike that you can take or carry kids however it was booked for the entire period we spent there. The only day that we got the bike it was not fully charged, we had to get back in the middle of the way with the help of the other bike and they didn’t do anything really to compensate.

The grounds are absolutely stunning, and the interiors of this hotel are absolutely spectacular. They have beautiful bikes you can ride around the Vineyard, the restaurant had FABULOUS wines and sauternes that blew me away. The accommodations are gorgeous, even for the standard room. The spa was so relaxing, and easily accessible. The gardens were breathtaking. Absolutely stunning start to finish.

Loved it one hundred percent, the only thing to keep in mind as a visitor, is that it may be tough to get any kind of uber. Taxi might be easier, but the town and area are pretty classic, so If you want to go around to a bunch of other vineyards in one day, consider renting a car. They have ample parking that does not cost extra.

Pool, our terrace and room. Dinner at the restaurant.

Bar was understaffed and had limited food options.

    Location and view

The air conditioning was noticeably weak and struggled to cool the room, even with the high summer temperatures. It couldn’t be adjusted manually, and unfortunately, the staff did not provide effective assistance to resolve the issue.

Everything about our stay there was amazing: property, location, rooms, service, restaurant and nearby activities.

    Nothing negative to say.

Beautiful setting. Wonderful food and attentive staff.

    10GuyPosted on: 5-10-2025

We liked everything about Chateau Hotel Grand Barrail! Our ground floor executive suite looked out into the vineyard (about 10 meters away) and the housekeeping was impeccable. The breakfast was fresh with good variety, and the 2 dining areas were elegant. Dinner was first class. When we return, we will stay here again, only we will stay longer!

The property is beautiful. The location is perfect to visit many wineries and the town of Saint-Émilion.The food was great and the patio was lovely.

The property was a bit expensive and it would have been nice for the hotel to provide more assistance for securing wine tasting.
