Pros +
- Breakfast choices were good, cocktails were gorgeous!
- Beautiful setting. Good food.Friendly staff.Very good wine list from less than 20€ a bottle.
- Stopped in gatehouse which is 180 m from main house. Flight of stairs to our room. Lovely bed, shower and tea and coffee making facilities. Had great meal in restaurant
Cons -
- Furniture could have been more traditional as befitting a chateau.
- On arrival there was nobody on reception but a number to phone for which I had to use my own phone. The room had a strange set-up with the bathroom and toilet situated behind the bed head but the toilet was at the opposite side of the bed to the bathroom. The rubbish bin in the bathroom had not been emptied since the previous guest.
- Dining room is mostly glass so bring a jacket in Autumn, it gets cold at night

The food was magnificent. A very small menu but everything was delicious Make sure to eat in the restaurant in the main building

Not far feom puy du fou, overprizd for a 4 starSole part of the staff not very freindly
We had a room in the out-building. It was a nicely renovated room with all facilities (air conditioning, Nespresso machine, water boiler, safe, etc.). Easy parking. Good breakfast. Amazing dinner in the restaurant. Easy and quick service from reception.
There was a plastic bathtub, which was unusual to step in to for showering.
The room in the stable block was modern and spacious, The evening meal was tasty and very well presented
The castle is beautiful, the restaurant for dinner was superb, the staff was friendly and helpful.
Our room was not in the main building, which made us feel a little less important ?. The room itself was smaller than we needed for the family of three traveling with a few suitcases. We stayed three nights and wanted to have our clothes in the wardrobe or chest of drawers, but there was only a shelf unit with 4 shelves.
The location
The fact that rooms NOT in the castle were not CLEARLY described as other rooms but NOT in the castle, but actually in separate buildings across the castle! We got a room that was on the first floor of a 2-story building across the castle. Although not having an elevator was disclosed, the stairs was quite a climb with suitcases for a 2-month travel!
Dinner and breakfast both excellent.
The light in the lavatory in bedroom turns off automatically far too quickly!
The accommodation clearly needs updating and attention
The air conditioning made an intermittent loud clicking noise every few minutes through its use over night. It was reported however still occurred on the second night resulting in two terrible nights sleep. The staff offered the aperitifs for one nights dinner (3 drinks) as compensation.
Great pool. Beautiful setting.Especially liked the boat trip from the hotel to the city centre .
Very nice property in a beautiful and calm location. We arrived late after a full day at Puy du fou and were able to check-in very late. Staff was here to welcome us and take us to the room. The room was large and comfortable for us with our 2 kids.
Could add curtains for privacy in the room
Clean room, nice white crisp linen, good quality towels, reception staff friendly, helpful & attentive.
We only stayed for one night, but smelt as if a wet dog might have been in the room.
Great location and large room
Breakfast was quite basic
most everything
amenities .... would be nice to have bathrobes in the room ... expresso machine with capsules ... longer and later hours for breakfast
Cleanliness, personnel's kindness, great room in the castle... Really good!
location was great and parts of building show great history
grounds were run down and not well kept for a house like this. House itself was ok but big kitchen building stuck on front of main building looks awful
location and grounds were lovely
modern, cheap interior and plastic chairs not in keeping with the property
We had tickets to Puy de Fou and (luckily) couldn’t get into any of the on site hotels so booked at Barbiniere….what a stroke of luck. The hotel was a great place to relax after a theme park day. Tranquil swimming pool, lovely grounds to wander around and a horse with her goal just next to our room! The château has been decorated very stylishly with some great pieces of art work and a clever mix of old and contemporary….. we like this as it’s such a change from anonymous chains or horrid bad taste brown french decor ( we are still in shock from a hotel in Normandy which has brown carpet on the bedroom walls!!!!!)We will be back!PS the rest of our family stayed in another chateau near to us…..more expensive and looked the a school holiday camp!!!!!!
It would have been great if the hotel offered dog rooms
