Pros +
- The very good standards of our rooms in term of decor / cleanliness and atmosphere as well as insulation and quietness, an excellent value for money !
- Lovely room, comfy bed but NO heating!
- Great location for onward travel to Calais. Perfect when travelling with a pet - plenty of parking and grounds for the dog
Cons -
- Main entrance door was locked upon arrival with no sign indicating what to do to advise as we were standing outside in the dark n cold.. And receptionnist although pleasant was totaly new in the place and inexperienced with quite a few things..
- No Heating
- The property is vastly under staffed. Check in is not manned and is handled by an adjoining hotel which is equally understaffed. The restaurant ( Vasco) is on site but also understaffed. We waited 50 minutes to even order!

Location and setting, just off the motorway . Beautiful building with spacious rooms and several restaurants on site. Plenty of parking. Very reasonable.
Shower/bath room looked stunning but difficult to get in and out of.
Perfectly located for a stop off on a journey from France to Yorkshire Lots of parking and comfortable rooms and beds Great grounds for the dog
The restaurants / bar were closed They could do with a casual dining option. The hotel isn’t near any other options for food so it’s tricky when all closed up
Can be noises from the parking areas that makes rooms noisesYou have to check in and out from chateau so quite a walk on, because this hotel reception is not openSo post to check in at 15.00 hrs room not ready at 16.00. Because no staff!
Overpriced for dated rooms and bathroom, noises from car park, above rooms
The location is good for the Calais. The place is very dog friendly and has nice grounds
It was not easy to work out where you were supposed to check in. The room was very nice but maybe the staff need to make sure nothing is left when making the beds
The room was exceptionally hot with no control available. It was a ground floor room which was good for our dog but as we could not leave the window open we were all very restless.
So the actual La Metairie wasn't open to check in and you go about 400m down the road to the Chateau to check in (this is also where breakfast is). This wasn't communicated until.we actually got to the door and there was a sellotaped sign.... the restaurant on sire (le Vasco) was great and convenient. Location was great for driving back to UK from Alps. Room was massive. Vaulted ceiling was impressive. Room was a little sparse and the bed a bit hard but adequate for the price. Breakfast was impressive and complete (even as a Vegan in France, I had plenty of choice). Staff were unenthusiastic and not what I would call welcoming. Not unpleasant or unhelpful, just functional and a bit robotic. Would stay again for convenience and price.
The location was great as a stop off before taking le Shuttle.
Our only complaint would be that our room was not accessible via a lift and we had to carry a case and heavy bags up 3 flights of stairs. We were offered no help and it was very difficult for myself and my husband as we are advancing in years.Breakfast was disappointing - no fresh fruit or hot food
Excellent location as just off the motorway in a tranquil spot.Breakfast selection was good.Parking outside convenient.Room warm and cosy.Reception very welcoming and made me a pot of tea when I arrived as I was tired :)
Perfect location for le shuttle, excellent breakfast and large comfortable room. Meal in Le Vasco was also very good.
Travelling with disabled daughter who found getting into bath for a shower rather difficult - but managed.
Fabulous setting and lovely breakfast
No signposts or night lighting to find rooms which was very hard arriving at night and trying to find our way from the reception to a completely different unmarked block.
Extremely comfortable, welcoming hotel, great location, very peaceful, with safe locked car park. Dogs very welcome, and lovely grounds for dog walking.
Nothing. It’s great.
Very secure parking, close enough to the motorway but not too close, beautiful grounds, huge room, great breakfast
Nothing!
The location suits us on our travels the choice of restaurants is extremely good and it’s very good if you have a dog as we did.
There is nothing particular that we didn’t like on this occasion. On our last visit there was a big problem with the noise from the cockerels next door but we were situated further away from them this time.
Where I needed to be! Otherwise not worth staying hereRooms ok but terribly noisy…. Hotel supplies ear plugs beside beds because of the noise! I’m not joking either!
When not busy they shut checkin so you have to park at one part of hotel then trudge to the far end where chateau hotel is, which is no fun in pouring rain! Then when you got your key all the way back to the other part of hotel, even worse even though you pay, you can’t have invoice, but have to come back next morning again in this case in pouring rain, then only to find a queue of people and 15 mins wait, then told can’t get invoice because booked through Booking.com then another walk back to car in rain!Breakfast is also in other building too, it’s not a relaxing stay, staying here but a chore!Rooms are noisy so much so, they even supply EAR PLUGS beside beds, so clearly they know it’s serious problem, much of noise comes from restaurants and people parking right outside rooms to go to restaurants and of course even more noise when they leave.Shower water barely warm at 7am
Rooms were very large with a separate bedroom. Choice of hotel restaurants and the evening meal was very good. Lovely hotel with a beautiful bar and breakfast room.
Bedroom was a bit cold and we had to walk up a steep outside flight of stairs to the rooms
Breakfast as previously experienced here. I was disappointed that I had to sit at a table previously occupied which had not been cleared.
See previous comment plus unhappy to be placed in an upstairs room - 22 steps to be encountered entering/leaving the room
Lovely staff. Dinner in the pub was great and breakfast was also very good. Convenient for motorway travel; beautiful grounds, building and gardens. Good location for a wedding. Decent parking right in front of room. Good price for the experience.
The room was extremely HOT with no way of controlling the temp (it was October and 15 degrees outside). The rooms are not soundproofed- heard our neighbours laughing and talking until 4am. The man on reception was doubling as the breakfast room attendant so tables were only cleared and food replenished when he had time to step away from reception. An extra member of staff to assist with breakfast is needed.
