    Pros +

    • Brilliant and dog friendly room which was excellent!
    • Bilderberg stands for quality. For a very nice price. Good food, nice wines and a great breakfast. Everyhting with a smile.
    • Very nice hotel in general.

    Cons -

    • Historic, lovely and green immediate surroundings and purpose adjusted (pet) rooms.
    • The salmon came out totally undercooked, it was closer to sashimi than being cooked.A day before arrival I received a message informing us the sauna was closed for maintenance. Later found out it had been closed already for two weeks. I felt like they waited just so you can't cancel the stay. It makes you feel cheated. Not a good feeling and doubt we will return.
    • although not doable; the parking lot is too small for full occupancy.

location, building are gorgeous, and rooms are comfortable. Good breakfast.

Spa and castle itself very beautiful

The bed was two single beds together... why???

    9Teodora D.Posted on: 5-25-2025

The sauna, the food, the comfortable mattress, the amazing view around the building.

We informed the staff 2 or 3 times about the fact that in the ashtray of the backyard (next to the sauna), there were some birds nesting. They kept saying that they would hang a note for people not to use it, but we haven't seen any.. Hopefully, this was done later :)

    Locatie, restaurant, kamers met uitzicht

Loud shouting, playing children in the Pool.

    8PaulaPosted on: 4-22-2025

The place is gorgeous! There are pretty gardens to walk through, the bar is nice under the sun. Nice saunas and indoor swimming pool. Room was clean and comfortable. Nice bathtub. Toiletries by Rituals gave the place a special touch.

The minibar doesn't cool by default, so bringing food from the market is challenging. No vegan options at the breakfast. Fitness center is good, but it could use a few weight lifting options.

Beautiful all around! Nice walking trail and beautifully green and flowers are starting to come. Garden fun to walk through!

Comfortable rooms Delicious dinner and breakfastAn amazing location - really feels like you are in a little castle. Serene and scenic.Friendly staff

The sauna/pool area could use an update. A little outdated. But it's a small minus.

    Good

Kitchen wad closed at 22-00, so no room service, no snacks in the room. We left hungry

    The view from the room

There was an empty detergent bottle outside our room the first two days. Check in can be improved. One was handled the keys for further info like how long is the pool open, where is the dining, how long is it open etc I had to ask. It is expected to get this info during check in. The lady at check in seems bothered by these questions. There weren't any customer at the reception during my check in time.Check out was great though.

    Location and setting

Everything else. The main problem was that there was some sewage issue so the whole room smelled awful (originated in the bathroom). We complained so they had sent a housekeeper who sprayed the bathroom to mask the smell - that combination was even worse! At checkout, we were told that they were aware of this problem and were working on it. However, I subsequently read some reviews from 2022 that also highlighted this issue, so clearly it’s been a problem before. We considered leaving but thankfully we were staying for 1 night only, so slept with the windows slightly open. Then there was no complementary water in the room. The mini bar was completely empty. The heating was impossible to control. The decor was extremely dated (carpets old and stained). No tables were available in the restaurant. The room service menu was limited. We were kindly provided with a list of restaurants we could have gone to in Venlo.

The room was absolutely superb, offering a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. The cleanliness was impeccable, with every detail attended to, making the stay truly pleasant. The service was exceptional, with a friendly and professional staff always ready to assist with a smile. It’s clear that great care and attention to detail are at the heart of this experience. Everything exceeded expectations, creating a stay that was both relaxing and memorable. Highly recommended!

Historic, charismatic, nicely restored. Lovely, helpful staff. Great for travellers with dogs

    Nothing!

Nice old building though not as nice as the photos suggest. I had a large room with the most comfortable bed of my whole trip away. The restaurant is excellent and well worth a visit. The menu was really good with plenty of choice and very attentive service.

Twenty five euros for breakfast was a definite 'no' from me. If you are spending well over two hundred euros a night to stay there and use the restaurant then why charge an excessive amount for a bite to eat in the morning? If you don't have a huge appetite at breakfast like me then you leave the hotel hungry which is a shame.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Everyone was friendly. The food was excellent.

The spa / gym was a bit tired / limited. One of the beds was a too soft. No BBC channels available on the tv,

    Very good

old furniture, the wardrobe is all broken, the interior of the corridor and the entrance doors to the room are all in poor condition. The room itself is good, but needs repair, price quality 6 out of 10. The staff is excellent 10 out of 10
