    Pros +

    • A small hotel with a lot of history. They have a restaurant, but I only had breakfast which offered a variety of foods. They had carafes of coffee, warm rolls and a place to cut them, eggs and sausages, cold German salads & sliced meats, fresh fruit, yogurt, muesli and cold juices & water. You keep your room & exterior door keys with you, so you can enter anytime.

    • Convenient location

    Cons -

    • Room on busy street. Very noisy with trains running all the time
    • The ear plugs on the night table were a hint. While we booked several months in advance, we were surely put into the least desirable room on the first floor above the entrance. Noisy trams passing by shook the room. The hotel and amenities are dated.
    • It needs better bike storage facilities.

Good location. Secure parking. Good buffet breakfast. Well equipped comfortable room. Very peaceful location.

There was nothing we did not like.

The room and breakfast were alright.

Our stay was completely overshadowed by the rude behavior of the staff. From the moment we arrived, they were unhelpful and dismissive, even when we asked for simple directions to the hotel's entrance. This lack of basic courtesy made our experience deeply disappointing.

    rather disappointing !

The noice from the tram was unexpected !No waring from reception during check in.We couldn't sleep

A unique historic ´oriental art deco stylé hotel in perfect condition. Family managed with a smile.

    - Location was very close to the old city center and Schwerin castle. - The room is newly renovated. We booked an apartment with kitchen. It has fridge (with freezer), stove, oven and also water cooker, bread toaster and basic kitchen supplies.- Bathroom is quite spacious and modern.- Breakfast was fine, the service was very good and friendly.- We didn't hear any noise from the outside.

    - The only thing I don't like is the bed. The bed is very hard and the pillow is very soft without any support for your head and neck. We only have 1 pillow per person, so I had to buy myself travel pillow so I can sleep better. - The room is quite warm in the summer, if you can, bring your own air ventilator! :)

Very nice comfy friendly atmosphere with old building.

The breakfast could be better and the room was little cramped

Excellent location. Decided to get off the train at Schwerin Mitte instead of the main station, which was a good choice. We were given a room on the top floor. Nice size bed, room was nice and bright and a good size bathroom.Breakfast was included in the price, which was a bonus.Hotel within walking distant of all sightseeing locations I.e Castle and grounds, boat trip area and big bus for a tour of the area.

Nice gem in the center of Schwerin. The rooms are nice and clean, and it looked like they had just been renovated. Breakfast is definitely an experience in their great hall. This is a nice hotel to start your city excursions. We enjoyed the stay and can recommend this hotel.

The lovely ladies of the staff make you feel very welcoming. Everything was neat, tidy and spotlessly clean. Great location and good breakfast.

Close enough to the old city center and castle. Parking on site. Bathroom seemed to have been renovated. Good breakfast in an old historic room.

Room quite small. A coffee maker would have been nice to have. The picture in the ad for the hotel is misleading as it is a pic of the castle and not the place itself. The restaurant in the hotel was closed, which had not been communicated on booking.com.

    8GracePosted on: 1-17-2024

The hotel is in a fantastic distance of the castle within easy walking distance. While the decor is a little dated, it still has an air of elegance to it which made the whole experience feel very fancy. Our room included a whirlpool bath, which was absolutely wonderful after a long day walking around Schwerin.

The few things that were not quite up to our expectations were the fact you only got a single small pillow each, which made the stay very uncomfortable. In addition, its typical for there to be a kettle in the room so you can make yourself tea, coffee etc in the morning or during your stay, and this would have been an additional fee, which was quite saddening.

    8JaninePosted on: 10-22-2023

The staff was very nice. They especially made us a vegan plate, because we asked for vegan breakfast. The breakfast room ist stunning. The location is wonderful, just 3 min from the lake with view to the castle.

The bathroom was not very modern or big. It was ok, though.

    9BernadettePosted on: 9-30-2023

The room was clean and well-furnished. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The hotel was very convenient to the castle and was about an 8-minute walk from the old-town part of Schwerin. While there is not much around the hotel itself, it is very convenient to walk or take a very short (1 stop!) tram ride to the main city center. I know other people have mentioned the noise of the trams and buses was too loud for them, but I live in a city and am used to the noise of passing vehicles, so it did not bother me at all, even with the windows open at night. The staff was extremely friendly! I can definitely recommend it. The Elefantsaal - where breakfast was served - is amazing. It was a special honor to be able to eat every morning in that room.

The only thing would be the day I wanted to check out, it took a few minutes for me to find the person for the reception area. But this was only very minor. Just give yourself a few extra minutes to check out and don't wait until the last minute.

Schwerin is not that large of a city and I was able to walk from the Main Train Station to the Hotel in (20) minutes. It is an older building with older interior but, at the same time, it is well maintained, clean, organized, and has a friendly staff. There are three floors which can be accessed by the stairway or an elevator. The rooms are a bit small but not uncomfortable and sufficient for two people. All the common hotel accessories are provided: a landline telephone, television, free wi-fi, outlets, hair dryer, tissue paper, bath and hand towels, body & hair soap dispenser in the shower. Housecleaning stops by each day to tidy up. The breakfast room is fun with the elephant head decorations all around the room, plenty of seating and the food selection is varied: cold cereal, juices, coffee, tea, Brötchen with cheeses and Marmelade. I was very pleased with my interactions with the front desk and the staff at breakfast time. Very friendly.

It will sound picky but the shower is a bit cumbersome to get in and out of due to the swinging shower door design. My room was located on the back side which made it quiet from any possible noise on the Main Street but the view was only of the roofs of neighboring building. Outside of these small details, I was happy with my stay.
