Spacious rooms and nice facilities, friendly staff, quiet rooms.Excellent breakfast, very nice the tables had a lot of room between them so you can sit privately.Nice christmas decorations.Convenient and large parking space.

Auto triggering of the light under the bed at night at the slightest movement (constant on/off keeping us await). No off-switch for that light so we had to block the sensor.

Modern facilities, good gym and sauna as well. Rooms are very good and spacious.

Some parts of the room need better protection for children.

The room offers a lot of space, and is well organized. The interior is calm, in dark tones, so its great for relaxing. The bath is big - it was one of the main reasons to book. And finally - restaurant. It offers a ultimately great breakfast with numerous options (amazed to find ratatouille!) and the dinner is also great (steak is good)

I am waiting for their extra space opening in 2026, as I really miss 2 things:1. Swimming pool2. MassagesHope to see this soon.

I recently stayed at Van der Valk Hotel Leeuwarden and was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. The hotel is modern, spacious, and immaculately maintained. My room was large, with a comfortable bed, stylish décor, and a spotless bathroom equipped with a rainfall shower. Small touches like the coffee machine, generous desk space, and quiet atmosphere made it perfect for both work and relaxation.The breakfast: unfortunately I didn’t have the chance to try the breakfast.Location-wise: the hotel is just outside the city center, making it easy to reach by car with free parking, yet only a short drive or bike ride into Leeuwarden’s charming old town.What stood out most was the staff: friendly, professional, and genuinely eager to make guests feel welcome. From check-in to check-out, everything felt effortless and well-organized.

Location for non-drivers – It’s outside the city center, so without a car or bike, public transport can be less convenient, especially at night.Price – While the quality is high, some guests might find room rates, restaurant prices, or breakfast costs a bit expensive.Limited late-night options – After the restaurant closes, there aren’t many food or drink options nearby

The breakfast on January 1 was amazing. Lots of choices.I also liked the quality of the bed and the space in the room.

There are no amenities in the room, no slippers, no drinking water, no mini bar, no welcome fruits, no wardrobe, no pen and paper, no phone directory to help call for a service, no turnover of the room, not enough towels and carpets...NOTHING. It's like the room was robbed of it's comfort before arriving !We had to go ourselves to the reception to ask for slippers to go to the sauna, cause there are no numbers stated to call the reception, the room service, etc. Very disappointing experience. Also for NY eve, 31st December, everything closed at 9:30....so we brought our own bubbles but that was a pure coincidence. The lobby is nice when the fireplace is lit. The staff didn't do the effort to lit it on so we had to ask also for this. The sauna is nice but no more towels when we went. So it seems like there is a total lack of service and staff to provide it.

Sauna was exceptionally. Breakfast was a good spread and worthwhile. Front desk staff was very helpful with lighting issue.

Super picky: Toilet bathroom light was automatic and stayed on longer than I personally would have liked after late night bathroom usage.

Rooms have balcony that is shared with the whole floor. This means, you actually can not keep the door open or have the curtains open at all without having control. Ex. All at once a (maintenance?) guy walked by on 'our' balcony. VERY inconvenient !

excellent! Sauna and wellness were really high quality. Also the stylish room.

Luxury room, all equipment new, spacious bathroom with both bath and shower. Fridge and tea/coffee facilities in the room. Located on the edge of town, by the highway, with big parking lot. Friendly staff.

Balconies do not have partitions, so if you leave your balcony door open, anyone from different rooms can walk in. Smoking is permitted on the balconies. Bins for recycling are missing – in the rooms / floors / on the reception. No place to sort out paper, plastic, organic waste.

Big spacious room like - really big, almost a studio, with a giant bathroom with shower and bath, wc in a separate room as is customary in NL and BE, a hallway, a big desk and an AMAZING balcony with an even more amazing view to the Dutch platteland. The restaurant was also excellent.

Nothing in particular, it's not close to the city, but we knew this in advance so it wasn't a problem
