Grand Hôtel de Valenciennes

I loved the front lobby and how authentic it felt, the service was amazing and really helpful and the location for what we were thre for was amazing. The price for what we got was well worth it, especially as we came from Canada where our dollar is worth nothing lol. Thanks for the stay and look forward to coming back :)

Things that cant be changed, the elevator could have been a bit bigger, but worked, explanation on a few locations around the hotel where to get some other restaurants if there were more local guided items for people not there for tourism but want to know whats open and around would have helpped. But all in all everything was great.

Good location and quite cheap

Decor a bit tired , separate toilet in room is very old school

The room was nice and dark, and the parking was sufficient.

1. The shower was over the bath with no shower curtain so the whole room was soaked. 2. Worst bed I have ever stayed in, not comfortable and not level. 3. Hotel menu was limited and the food was overpriced against the quality. 4. Bus stop outside was used by the local youths to play loud music and hangout. 5. Overall over priced against the quality. 6. Room was really dated, with broken tile in the bathroom.

Bathroom heating broken, freezing space, bath kept draining while in it - dirty blanket

Lovely hotel in a great location opposite the train station and near all other local transport.

Convenient location and check in from 1300h. Large room pretty well equipped with plenty of warm water.

Heated towel rail would help

A good sized, quiet room on 4th floor and a good but rather small lift to it. Location was close to the city centre and the Xmas market and there was a very convenient parking spot.

Not sure there was anything we did not like

Handy place for visiting the town and building is in transition.

The shower was not working well.

The breakfast is delicious, the beds are comfortable, the room is nice and cozy, the food at the restaurant within the hotel is delicious, plus the hotel itself is in a very convenient walkable area as well as cycling and transit area to do some sight seeing. The vibe in Valenciennes is very cultural.

Breakfast was good and the offer was wide, storage of luggage was possible, Wi-Fi worked well, friendly personal

no complains, maybe the breakfast could been open longer than until 9:30

Was a bit noisy by night but that’s the location being opposite the Gare !

Rip off

Old and in need of a serious revamp , dirty carpets, shower was useless and was blocked. The whole place was stuck in yhe 60s style.

Great convenient vicinity, clean, nice breakfast

Staff didn’t speak very good English and supplies in our room not replenished well. Had to ask reception for a second bath towel and fit extra milk ( for 2 of us) no regular tea only green tea supplied. Not easy to regulate air con and because of lack of English spoken didn’t ask for help with this.

Location directly across from the railway station was perfect. Large room which was great for having two suitcases open. Small circular table with two easy chairs a nice touch.

Some of the staff were a little disinterested, others were great. Breakfast is basic but OK. One day the bacon disappeared fast and was not replenished. No shower screen door for the shower which was over the bath. No handles to assist in safely getting into and out of the shower.

staff was friendly and helpful.breakfast is ok. free parking only after 20:00, public but space is close enough.exactly in center of city.

hotel is really old. rooms are ok but furniture is also old.refrigator does not have good capacity. windows are even old.no laundry service. restaurant was closed at first, but was closed some days later. i didn't try.

Easy to find, big roms

Almost non-existent pillows. The aircondition was leaking a lot of water and couldn’t be used. A lot of noice from the street.

In front of the train station. Very comfortable to reach the main parts of the city. Good beer.

Old stuff hotel, poor breakfast.

Nothing at all.

Avoid avoid avoid. Didn’t sleep at all, at night. People smoking in the hotel, shouting, fighting, full of drunks and junkies..

Comfortable, very big room.

Unfortunately the highly recommended restaurant was closed on Sunday.
