Best Western Plus Hotel Cargo

The hotel isn't too far from the beach and the the hotel building is nice despite showing some age which it is not trying to hide. The staff were helpful and friendly, despite struggling with English a bit. The rooms were clean, but lack good lighting and look a bit dark. The rooms didn't have a fridge, but the staff let us use a refrigerator at the reception. The breakfast was a mixed bag, but mostly positive. The selection wasn't the biggest, especially for this price, but it wasn't lacking either.

It's a shame that the rooms don't have a good sound insulation, so if other guests at the hotel are a bit louder, you can absolutely hear them. If you are not an early bird, expect to be woken up by door slams from other rooms. Noise was also a problem at night because of people being loud in the street and on top of it, some vandals decided to put up a fight with a trash bin in the middle of the night. Closing the windows made almost no difference.

Good location. Room was ok, but a little tired.

Desk staff were a bit rude and slow. Elevator was very slow. Couldn’t control the heat very well, so we left the window open. Luckily it’s a sleepy town and it was quiet outside.

Breakfast was excellent; the bedroom was a little small (because it was on the attic); the hotel is centrally located with easy access to restaurants and walking distance to the beach.

Noise from a late night barber shops opposite hotel so could not have windows open. Lack of English channels on TV as usual ?

Lovely hotel, in a really central location.We checked in very late due to Ferry delays, staff were very amenable & helpful.Lovely rooms, very spacious & the beds & pillows are so comfy!

Very efficient and friendly staff, great atmosphere, very clean.

Very comfortable, quiet and ideal for getting the ferry the next morning. Took me 25 minutes drive. Free underground parking. Very comfortable bed and freshly renovated bathroom. Easy walk to a nice restaurant, late supermarket right next door.

The car park is accessible by lift from the hotel. You need a key to drive in and out. This shouldn’t be an issue if you’re a couple, but when you’re alone it’s not so easy when you leave and have to bring the key back. It’s a 1-way road system. There is other parking nearby to leave the car while you bring the key back but you need to plan an extra few minutes to sort that out.

Everything about the hotel was brilliant. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was very fresh with a lot of choice. The room was well designed and very comfortable. We loved the fact that it had a mini kitchen in it, with a coffee machine. The hotel is close to restaurants, but not in the thick of it, so a quiet location

Disappointing

I was given a room in the ground floor. Most of the days the music at the reception was too loud until late disturbing the sleep of all staying at that floor. When I asked the reception to lower the sound the receptionist refused. The room had a bad smell of mold and the floor carpet was full of stains. For 2 days someone just came on the side of my window with a lawn mower or grass cutting machine waking me up at 5 am????? I asked to change the room to another floor and once again they refused my request... I was told they had no rooms however, 30 min later they accepted 3 people without reservation. The hotel is a million miles far from being a 4 stars hotel (not even 3). Avoid this hotel.

Very good

Stayed in room 501, which was excellent, except there was no wi-fi signal. The previous week I stayed in room 4, where the wi-fi worked.

Great location to see Dunkirk. After 6, parking free outside hotel. Beware sat nav trys to send you into 37 Rue du Président Poincaré, 59140 Dunkerque, France but it's a One way street.

4 Star?? I don't think so. 3 at best. Paper thin walls, traffic noise & very hot. No a/c. Shower in bath so awkward for mobility issues.. We chosethe hotel because it was described as exceptional. It wasn't.
